  1. no they are not brakes to the chassis rails.
  2. sounds like fked pressure plate to me. maybe a bent 'finger' or two. that will cause the gear selction problems, and can make a noise where it meets the release bearing. and i've found that when the pressure plate is knackered sometimes it will be ok, sometimes it wont so that matches with the inconsisten problem. the bottom line is the only way to find out for sure is whip the box off and see what's up, which you'll have to do anyway to fix it, so my advice is get that box off.
  3. fatz is too much of a snob to ride in a 35 GTR. for him it's 31 or walking...
  4. like so: http://www.picsandglass.com/store/ImageFol...img=128&tt= and here is russ. hmm thought you were going to stay off the curbs russ... hehe. http://www.picsandglass.com/store/ImageFol...img=128&tt= http://www.picsandglass.com/store/ImageFol...img=136&tt= http://www.picsandglass.com/store/ImageFol...img=240&tt= and this one is an especially high quality cut! http://www.picsandglass.com/store/ImageFol...img=240&tt=
  5. lots of corner cutting done at the S bend after you come off the bridge, the left hander before the flip flop and a massive cut action over the flip flop (basically allows you to straight line in a car if you don't mind smashing johnies diffuser.... did I say that?!?). there is definitely 1 or 2 seconds in the cuts. maybe a little more depending on the car. it's farken nasty on your car though, as they are mostly big saw tooth curbs (to stop cutting lol).
  6. no, the crashing aud and flat local car market meant the end of grey R35s. second hand ones cannot be imported. sevs compliance was only gained for low volume NEW.
  7. i'll give you another tip. the day before you are due to go get the car. ring an insurance company and get a quote. ask them to send the paper quote out to you. the quote acts as valid insurance from the day it was issued and I believe it's valid for 14 days (it will be stated on the quote). so even if you haven't paid it, in 2 days time your car was stolen, you are covered by that policy as you had intended to take it up within the allowable period.
  8. sorry that's not what I menat . it's just that if the car was imported and first registered in qld, then it would have been done according to QLD transports rules. NSW RTA rules may be different for registering 15yo cars. I know under the old 15yo scheme many cars imported to NSW were issued with a kind of compliance plate but in other states it was not done or needed to be done. that is the problem with the old 15yo scheme, all that was required was the state rego requirements which of course are different every state.
  9. if it's a track car there are a few other things you should really consider: 1. trans and engine oil cooler upgrades. the stock cooling system will get too hot after maybe 6 laps or so. if you want to run more than that in a session, you'll need to upgrade the cooling, it's a good idea anyway. 2. paddles that move with the steering wheel (MCR carbon paddle kit). it's a bit awkward (and dangerous) needing a gear mid corner and having to take your hand off the wheel to grab a gear. 3. race seat (good to save some weight over the stock seats and of course greatly improve the on-track driving. add a harness to that too. 4. cage. this one is not so neccessary if you just want to do sprints and track days, but worth thinking about. R35s are a very fast car, and very heavy too. I would put this gear ahead of the bov kit, evc6 and the crank pulley. also think about some track wheels and tyres too.
  10. the blue plate on the firewall is not the 'import plate' as you call it. in fact there is no such thing as an import plate. the blue plate is the original nissan plate with the chassis number, build date, driveline code, paint code etc. the first thing you need to establish is what scheme was your car imported under? what state was it first registered in after it was imported? first piece of advise is never let rego lapse if you can avoid it, as problems like this often come up when needing to re-establish rego with blue slip etc. is your car an 89 or 90 model? if so there is a big possibility it was imported under the old 15yo scheme prior to 06. if that is the case the requirements for it's registration would be a state thing. 15yo rule cars were 'complied' differently in each state. some times they had plates affixed with the new aussie VIN and the compliers name etc. sometimes they just had the aussie vin engraved and/or a VIN plate affixed. this could cause you some head aches. if it was imported under the old CPA scheme it should have a compliance plate fitted. if it was imported under SEVS it should have a compliance plate, or compliance sticker/label fitted. if it was a personal import it will most likely have a personal import plate fitted. as you can see there are too many variables. you need to establish how it was imported. do you have the VIA?
  11. plus of course the "dealer" you bought yours from was awesome, and delivered the car on time and just about a year ago now! he must really be a top bloke. I remember your face when you picked it up and took it for a little squirt. expectation was met within about 12 seconds of being in it i reckon. lol, I remember when nissan were saying deliveries would start in september 08... hehe. anyway, I agree it's great to see nissan selling them here, and I can understand the high service costs too. nissan dealers are not the enemy. they spend their own money to become a GTR dealer with all the training and paraphernalia that requires. so it's only fair that they will want to recoup some of that money through increased service costs.
  12. lol, you are the only fag that needs to accelerate between 1 and 2 at oran park big boy. it's because your r31 is such a slow POS that after farting on the brake pedal at turn one you need to increase speed just to make it to turn 2 without the car stalling.... Chris, those are awesome photos mate. Love the variety. the photo of the civic, is that the left hander before heading up to the flip flop? he must have bounced it off the inside ripple strip or something?! un-usual to see some air there (well 2 weels but not all 4). either way it's a great pic, you should send it to him as I'm sure he'd love to have it.
  13. lol, russ would never joke with dundan. he's far too sensitive.
  14. your local snap-on man will have one. they are nothing like the ones pictured. they are very low and have a very low snout which is at minimum height. they are the way to go for sure. and they are not a new model, i've been using one for nearly 10 years. at least 7 years +.
  15. yep, very good point. It certainly does target a different group of buyers to the traditional market for 32s-34s in aus. the people waiting for aus GTRs are also a very different group to those who bought JDM. most guys who bought JDM R35s (that I know, and I know most in aus) had previously owned a GTR of some sort, and most had owned a few different models of low volume import. So they were not worried by lack of factory backing, or by a few japanese buttons as they had been down that path before with previous grey models. the general public are still scared of grey imports in general, not just JDM R35s. anyway, well done nissan for attracting new buyers.
  16. no they don't. lol. second hand cars that are imported without an aus compliant 17 digit vin are issued with a new vin. it's been different over the years. at the moment they pre-fix the original vehicles chassis number (providing that number is compliant, ie no "O's" in it) with 6U9 and however many zeroes are needed to get to 17 digits. in the past it's been different pre-fixes like IMPRT etc. cars that are sold new in australia are issued an australian VIN before they are sold. they do not get a chassis number that is prefixed with 6U90XXX.
  17. btw, remember the nismo slave is larger bore so it will have less travel than a stock slave. so if your problem is travel don't get it. I had a problem with my old twin or tripple (i forget which) and hard gear selection. it was not enough travel. went back to stock slave, problem went away.
  18. agreed. OP GP turn 1 to 2 can make up good time if you have the large ones and can really pick a good braking point. 2 3 and 4 though there is not much time between a gun driver and an average one. no time made or lost there. but from the bridge to the last turn is where it's at. they all really flow into each other and you need to be smooth, but aggressive enough to grab some curb too. yeah EC turn 1 is not too scary. I reckon the kink at OP is much harder to get right than turn 1 EC. and if you mess up turn 1 at EC you (mostly) just run wide, unless you really get it wrong and pirouette into the inside wall (which is really nasty), where as OP turn 1 can cause some grief (and often a roll over in the sand trap) if you balls it up. EC is really a bike track. but still good fun. good for the big power stuff.
  19. all i hear is excuses!! haha just kidding mate. well done. 140+mph is very rapid! it must feel damn quick now.
  20. I'm sorry we didn't get to meet harry. would have liked to say hello. good result mate. just goes to show you don't always have to be super flash to do well. make sure you find me next time. i look a bit like brad pitt, only really well hung and with chicks usually following in a neat line behind me. with fatz behind them... how did you like EC? personally I much prefer OP GP, but EC has it's place too.
  21. yep, it's named after the biot number, but we knew that some time ago. still nice detective work
  22. so how did compak attack go? did it run the 9.44 or 9.1? pic looks good.
  23. how can you have enough time to paint the intercooler, but 'didn't have a chance' to make a 5 minute phone call and have it insured in your name? any car I buy or import (and it's quite a few) I ring the insurance company and get the insurance before i leave to go and collect the car. it's easy. takes 5 minutes. and means if I crash it or get carjacked on the way home I am covered before I've even had to shell out a cent. there is no excuse really to go un-insured.
  24. it's an x-pipe. gas can flow between the two banks.
