  1. lol, no worries mate. I wasn't pissed. just I have a sore voice from saying the same thing for 1 and a half years now! but yet still no one believes me. maybe they will believe morely....
  2. yep, that is often a problem. and it's a problem for the customer too. if you build somewhere and tune somewhere else who do you blame when things go wrong? it's not always clear who is at fault. wherever possible get the one shop to mod and tune your car. much better results that way and a clear blame path!
  3. I'm sorry mate but if you knew how an R35 works you'd know that's not possible. in an R35 power goes from the engine to the rear mounted transaxle, and there is a shaft sending drive back to the front. so you could disconnect that and run in RWD, but if you disconnected the rear tail shaft you'd have no wheel drive. and even trying to run in RWD i'm not sure if the ecu would allow it.
  4. nice elaborate on the speakers etc. as for spare budget, can't promise anything...
  5. I'm with you troy. webber is as good as any of these clowns, and I reckon he'll have a few surprises for vets. sure the young fella is quick, but I too reckon webber will have his measure this year. webber has punished some highly fancied team mates, vettel has not really had that challenge yet in F1.
  6. take out the lining, and the brace (only 4 nuts) then start unbolting that big panel. must be 30 or so nuts and bolts. I did mine with an electric rattle gun and it took 10 mins. if I'd used spanners and ratchet probably would have taken me 30mins+ just to get that panel out. you may be able to squeeze it out another way but I couldn't. so I say bite the bullet and remove the big panel right off the bat. makes putting the new one in easy too. now the real hard part is finding the same size battery as stock (they are like motorbike sized) with the external vent tube on it as well.
  7. yep, on top of being able to flash the ecu with different performance maps, it also has valet mode maps (ie rev limited etc), and it can clear any error codes without you having to take a trip to the dealer. and it will work 100% on aus models. snowy has one already. I know he used it on jeffs 35 which I believe is aus spec. it's basically a very handy tool to have, and of course being able to run maps with more boost etc is nice too (providing you keep it sensible - small increase only is the sweet spot).
  8. yep, russ put some in the JDM 35 I sold him and he is liking it. I'm sure a fair few people have used it by now. My advice if you're picking up your new R35 there are 2 things you should get straight away: 1 : Cobb tuning access port 2 : mid pipe (and the willal one looks as good as any, and is made in aus and fair price too). these 2 things are a great addition to any R35 GTR. then after a bit of hard driving or a few track days change out the trans fluid for the willal stuff, and if you are planning more track work then consider investing in a trans cooler as well. enjoy
  9. thanks mate, great looking gear from origen too. I'm getting excited now. this should be a nice set-up.
  10. very good time mate. 1:17 in a stock 35 with semis is well on the pace. let me know next time you're heading out and I'll try and come out with something.
  11. thanks boys. ash, those case look great. that is definitely like what i'm after. you've given me a bit to think about. this weekend i'm going to talk to some local stereo guys again, but if I need to go further a field I'll give your guys a go too jas. cheers. I quite like this case too http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_p...roducts_id=6423 and this one would suit as well http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_p...roducts_id=6675 it seems the silverstone ones will have something suitable. and perhaps I can use the sonos gear to multi-room it and use the bose amps and speakers (just buy the non-amped sonos receivers). lots of possibilities. edit: OK we have a new contender!!! http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_p...roducts_id=4827
  12. front diff is not in the transfer case. so replacing your transfer case does not replace the front diff. the front diff is in the engines sump. so if you were assuming that the diff got replaced when they swapped out the broken transfer case I'd say it's unlikely unless the diff was damaged too. and yes sometimes on driveways etc you will get some real wheel slip before the fronts kick in. after all it's an active torque split car, not locked 50/50. also, you can't just divide the two numbers of teeth to get the ratio. you need to divide one by the other. divide the crown wheel by the pinion. ie 37 tooth crown wheel and 9 tooth pinion = 37/9 = 4.111:1 (standard 32 and 33 GTR).
  13. well I've only been saying this since DECEMBER 2007!! and posted it on the forum at that time too. but no one listens to the poor old beer baron. I asked nissan japan myself way back then and the engineer that I asked nearly fell off his chair laughing at me when I asked if the engine needed a rebuild every 100K kms. he then explained than even the RB26 will live for well over 200,000kms without rebuild (in standard form) and that the VR38 is more advanced and that the plasma coating extends engine life, not reduces it.
  14. lol, told ya they had no idea. as I said, 110 on the street is not too hard. 120 on the track is about 3 hard laps of oran park. as for what is acceptable and what isn't, martin would know better than me having actually tested the stuff. but I'd be cooling down if it gets to 130, then get back on it. the new fluid may help too, or at least it should have better film strength and maintain viscosity at a higher temp. so did you have fun or what? 35 around oran park is a day well spent.
  15. I wouldn't care if the steward was michael bloody schumacher, if they can't tell the difference between unintentional power oversteer in a powerful (predominantly) rwd car, and intentional drifting, then they clearly need some motorsport re-education. It's ludicrous to suggest that mark is TRYING to drift his R34. he has spent bundles of his own time and money making that car one of the finest CIRCUIT RACING cars in the country and spent a lot of effort to make it fast around a circuit, not sideways around a circuit. Michael too bought and tuned his GTR for circuit racing not drifting. there is a massive difference between driving a powerful rwd car that can be prone to some oversteer and actually drifting a car (in drifting the car is sideways BEFORE THE CORNER ENTRY, and carries that slide angle through and beyond the corner. I saw no evidence of that). I can't believe they think power oversteer is dangerous but that side by side grid starts with amateur drivers is safe... that's a good one. perhaps they don't want cars moving around at all. in that case it should have been explained at the briefing that anyone who tries to drive fast will be asked to slow down or leave... great times...
  16. agreed! the mid pipe like what snowman has should be a compulsory mod to any and all R35 GTRs. it improves the sound greatly, takes no time to fit, costs less than $1K and I would say improves the performance a bit too. It gives the car a great 'warbley' V6 engine note. like a hot alfa V6 or something.
  17. yeah agreed. I have been looking at the local bose dealer (david jones in this case) and I know they can spec the system and get a proper installer to do it but the cost is pretty harsh. the sonos gear I have no idea about, but that too came from a professional high fi store here in sydney too. just got to thinking that maybe it could be done better if run by a decent PC with some nice software for the UI and some decent hardware to store music etc. you have a point though, it has to look nice as well as sound nice, and be reliable, not look cobbled together from bastardised PC bits.
  18. 70RTY you have raised a very valid point and one that not many people thing of. you are right. the car is so fast that you cannot enjoy it's flat out acceleration for any length of time. in the beemer you may be able to accelerate for 4 seconds from 20kmh without breaking the limit, in the GTR with all the torque and the perfect DSG shift flat acceleration for more than than about 3 seconds from any rolling speed and you will be breaking the law in any state in aus. accelerate for say 6 seconds straight and you are looking at a big fine. I too thought about this. after driving the GTR for a few days and enjoying it I drove an E92 M3 for a while. it felt like it had all of about 40hp (despite the 420hp claim) and needed the nuts revved off it to go fast, but it sounded great, and being able to wind it up through the gears without hitting stupid speed was good fun. I wouldn't say MORE fun. Just DIFFERENT fun. just the sheer acceleration force of the GTR is entertaining enough though. they are an amazing car, and so much fun on track. Same thing with the aston V8 vantage, not super quick in a straight line, but sounded great and was still enjoyable. so different things make different cars fun. but the GTR is still a great road car. I don't think you would regret buying it.

  20. ok, nismoidski. help a brother out with some advice. looking to build an integrated home music system. must have: hard drive nice remote (s) hooked up to TV etc in the main lounge room and speakers in there. out door speakers kitchen speakers plus 1 other (maybe 2) room speakers so basically 4 rooms, HD etc. I've been looking at a bose system and so far it's in front, but total cost will be near $30,000 by the time it's installed. ideally $20,000 or less would be nice. I've also been looking at some sonos gear which looks good. I've been looking at this: http://www.bose.com.au/site/index.aspx?pat...=3&pgid=184 and adding some of these: http://www.bose.com.au/site/index.aspx?pat...d=6&pgid=18 or these http://www.bose.com.au/site/index.aspx?pat...d=6&pgid=17 and this for another room http://www.bose.com.au/site/index.aspx?pat...=7&pgid=108 and this for anther room http://www.bose.com.au/site/index.aspx?pat...12&pgid=196 need a couple of these to drive the outdoor speakers http://www.bose.com.au/site/index.aspx?pat...d=8&pgid=27 there are a few other bits needed too, but that's the basics. it also has to be easy to use, and the more it can do the better. This is the sonos gear http://www.sonos.com/Default.aspx?rdr=true&LangType=1033 Does anyone have experience with the sonos stuff? I quite like the bose home gear. The other option of course (and why I'm in this thread). is to get a kick ass media PC. have it connected to the HD TV and use the TV for the GUI with a remote of some kind, and then add in some good amps and speakers for the other rooms, but have it commanded by the PC, with a good piece of software and a nice remote, and a BD drive, and maybe a pair of 500gb HDs. Could also then use it to record TV etc with a good tuner or two in the box. Any idea on good cases and what type of software to run? and what specs I'll need?
  21. you are right. the big drama will be the strain on the clutch and on the engine. but sure its worth a try if you find you are getting lots of wheel spin in 1st gear launches. you'll need some decent power to get it happening nicely though.
  22. I can top it! 1000kms in 1 day. although admittedly half of that was in NSW and only half in VIC.
  23. gooooooone.
  24. are they reliable? the short answer is standard = yes. modified = no.
