  1. don't chop the dinasour dundan..... wait. chop it.
  2. and yes kimi in shorts getting ice cream and coke half way through a race was gold! he was already thinking about booze and strippers no doubt. lol. all the other guys were wound tight worrying about whether or not they'd be asked to race again, but he just said fk this i'm getting some ice cream!
  3. how farking good was webber. finally showed he can race, and can make some ballsy moves. just like he used to in the lower categories. also everyone jumping up and down about how lovely vettel is have a look at how light he was! he was a good 10kg lighter than the next heaviest car, and massively lighter than most of the field. what happend with web? he was in 4th but was classified 8th after the red flag? had he made up 4 spots in that last incomplete race lap or something?
  4. he is a spoilt snotty nosed little wanker. lucky he has a fall guy who he can blame for his own actions. shame it'll ruin the blokes long career with maclaren. but what the fk does lewis care? team player my arse. he is a team of 1.
  5. nah I'm with dundan. forget EC. keep doing OP till they bulldoze it. don't worry, once all we have left is EC you'll be sick of it soon enough. make the most of what we have while we still have it.
  6. it will not be a problem. I own a personal import. An 07 legacy GT. it has factory xenon's. and it's been through the Vehicle Identity Check.
  7. the standard GTR set-up has 2 blow off valves. so having 2 isn't really want. that's how the factory system does it. but yes they are not a problem for decent power. there are plenty of other things to change first. if you want more bov sound out of them look at getting some pod filters and/or metal hard pipe kit. that will get you more noise out of the stock BOVs. the HKS SSQV kit for GTR will come with 2 BOVs. as does the blitz kit. the trust kit just has one but it's the massive type R BOV.
  8. do they have stuff like floor mats? tool kits? stuff like that yet?
  9. actually, I have a question, do the aus cars have the integrated sat nav like the japanese cars? and do they have it on standards and premiums? or what's the deal with the navi?
  10. I would absolutely LOVE to see a big timing screen showing each car and say their last 3 laps as they are going round, but not even F1 have that and it costs $600+ for a good seat at that. They would need a much more advanced timing system and some good software to run it all. it would be so good though, I've wanted that at just about every motorsport event i've attended. boxhead: as for the timing equipment cost, i've never personally hired or paid for it, but that was the price I was told. I'm sure it costs more than $500 though, for starters there is 100 transponders which are not cheap plus the timing equipment and people to manage it all. to be honest I think they do pretty well at making it interesting. it's a big step up from a supersprint or regular track day. the commentary is good as you know who is on the track and what times they are doing. and the level of cars they've attracted is awesome. the trade stands and chicks both add something too imo. the interview idea could be a winner too. anyway, there are lots of good ideas floating around. i'm sure it will continue to improve. personally I thought this event was a big step up from the first one, and i'm sure the next one will be better still.
  11. well most clubs don't pay any of their staff. hi octane do. most clubs don't pay for magazine advertising, and many clubs don't pay the $5K for proper timing. and many clubs run at a loss, they rely on membership fees, donations and other fund raising to finance their events. hi octane doesn't want to shell out dough for people to race, they want to break even or make a profit. i'm not saying they are crying poor. I have a pretty good idea of what this event cost them, and it's a fair bit more than I thought, but doing rough numbers in my head tells me it's viable and they probably do make a profit.
  12. they had big ads in car related magazines, and lots of banners and flyers at workshops etc. I understand linton's point though about price being an indicator of quality. I can tell you the big name GTRs and evo's etc would all have money spent in the hundreds of thousands to get to where they are, so yeah you are seeing the best 'tuned' cars in aus. so maybe I do have it backwards, maybe higher ticket price would get more tickets sold.
  13. yeah good points and I agree with it all except cost. I reckon maybe look at $10 bux and you'd get 3 times as many people so 50% more profit and lots more people at trade stands.
  14. sony experia X1 is pretty good too. i've used one for a day and liked it. HTC touch HD is money. like I said forget diamond unless you just want a cheap-ish one. they are superseded now. apple 3g is so easy to use and means you actually get the most out of web browsing, you tube, email etc. it's a gret phone. and there is an ap for everything. i was installing a washing machine the other day in my place and wanted to make sure it was level, downloaded the spirit level ap and away I went! phone turns into a spirit level. nice. omnia really is a rubbish phone. the touch interface is crap. typical samsung junk. I had high hopes for it but after two days was ready to introduce it to kindly doctor foot to put it out of it's misery.
  15. R35s that were imported under SEVS will have a 6U90X vin. aus delivered R35s will have something else. they are birthed with a proper 17 digit vin from scratch. like I said it's purely to get the chassis number to conform with aus VIN requirements. the aus delivered cars would be given an aus complaint chassis number (VIN) from birth as they are destined for aus. JDM cars are given a JDM compliant chassis number as they were only ever intended to be sold and used in japan. hence the need for a new vin. and as I said over the years it's been different.
  16. yep, my usage is well under 5,000kms a year, and i've been a customer for a number of years. you are probably right, multi car discount would not be huge, but probably the usage and the number of years, coupled with the number of cars would mean the difference. I still think your quote is not too bad, but I imagine if you took it out it would improve by more than $1000 next year.
  17. sadly a big production like superlap costs a lot of dough to put on. think about what tracks like oran park charge for track hire garage hire carpark use for trade stalls corporate box use then add timing system public liability insurance advertising wages (staff on the day, staff taking entries, staff calling people, security, etc) merchandise trophies have a guess at those costs, then double it! then there is the problem that there is only so much the market will bear in terms of entry costs and spectator costs. I would say it would get pretty close to breaking even, may even make a small profit on paper. but it takes a lot of work to make it happen and it may not be viable to run more than 1 or 2 a year as you'd lose some entries from interstate as they may just chose to do their home round, instead of the 1 big one a year.
  18. can't believe rubens didn't get a penalty for taking webber out. which bloody race were they watching. also vettel again fked up and took out the cube and himself. great job sebastian.... i'm with you troy. webbers maiden victory this weekend.
  19. well the key differences affecting price will be: age of youngest driver recent claims and driving history usage (low kms get a decent discount) how many cars you currently have insured with them. I currently pay a fair bit less than $3900 but I have: good driving record. no at fault claims a number of other vehicles insured with shannons garaged in a secure garage and in a low risk suburb super low usage youngest driver over 25 that all helps.
  20. have a look at giant's R35. he had a lovely cage built for that. i drove it at oran park gp on the weekend and it was lovely to drive. very easy to steer on the throttle and even though the chassis is pretty good to start with the cage does help, and of course adds to the safety. his has been retuned too with more boost etc and runs very nicely. the only thing you need to do is keep one eye on temps of trans and engine oil. the biggest improver to driving feel would be: seat and harness wheel and moveable paddles those things transform the way you can drive the car.
  21. omnia is crap. i've used one for a few days. hated it. iphone is much better. very easy to use and fast browsing. easy to use and fast email. good sms. good phone. HTC touch HD is tha shit. HTC touch diamond is old. there are better phones from HTC now. even the HTC touch pro i think is better as it has a nice keyboard. blackberry are rubbish. 90% of people who have one only have it cause that's what their office uses and gives them for free. sort of like a dog collar... ihpone is a great phone. don't discount it just cause you hate apple (i hate them too, have never owned an ipod, or any apple pc except at work). i think ihpone 3g is the wiener.
  22. well it can be an installation problem, but most often they just fail. once the things been pushed in and out so many times they weaken and break. it can happen and 80% of the time the clutch feels fine, then you'll hear a little noise and all of a sudden the pedal feels really light and it's hard to select gears. then later it may go back to normal again. the main point is that sadly whether it's a collapsed release bearing (also possible), bent fork (highly possible), stuffed fingers/cover (also possible) or even a broken clutch plate you have to take the box off and examine it. so no matter what the problem the process is the same which is a good thing.
  23. sorry mate, I was replying to terry. it got kind of muddled as I didn't see your post between his and mine.
  24. you watched today tonight. that was your first mistake! it's not exactly known as a shining beacon of high journalistic standards...
