  1. well in some countries they like UPS are licenced duty collectors so they do levy whatever applicable taxes on their customers. can be a nasty surprise for some people. on a serious note it's a very sad occurrence. and a very strange looking accident. from that one piece of footage it certainly looks like either mechanical failure or wind shear. poor crew.
  2. most of it is. it's just been painted... bonnet carbon bumper and carnards carbon front undertray FRP front guards carbon side skirts carbon rear quarters carbon rear pods carbon boot lid carbon wing carbon doors carbon the only real body work on the car that's not carbon as far as I can say off the top of my head is the roof. and come to think of it the bumper may be FRP too for strength and some durability. most of the interior is carbon too and the windows lexan. and all the carbon gear is the real deal. most of it was made in japan by composite experts, designed and built properly with all the right gear (autoclaved, vacuum bags etc). no half measures.
  3. having had and driven both I have to disagree. the R35 offers a lot more than 3 times the performance of the 34. Don't get me wrong, a nice R34 GTR is stupidly good value at $50K but in standard form they are not very exciting cars, nor are they super quick on a circuit or in a straight line. at triple the price the R35 is even better value! Things like the brakes, the interior, the beautiful 500hp engine and most of all the DSG make it a whole other ball game to a 34. I'm not saying it's the best car in the world but it's pretty close to the best $170K car in the world. Through a winding road you'd need a 34 GTR with way more power and serious suspension and brakes and lots of gear to keep close to a well driven R35. the DSG alone counts for a lot of that.
  4. guys, duncan is talking standard BREMBO (ie 324mmX30mm) not standard 32 (296'ers).
  5. furthermore, you are a cant and I hate you.
  6. tell them I want Vpower Racing back. it was great fuel. I'll even buy a years worth up front if it'll help matters... also ask them how they fell for the joke of inviting you along.... and ask them do they feel silly about it? hehe.
  7. who sends parts via fed ex anyway..... they ream hard!
  8. I concur. obtursive is a perfectly cromulent word and state of being. and I must say hokkaido in general and sapporo more specifically is definitely on my list to spend some time in soon. I've been meaning to get some naked sushi for a while now...mmm fishy. I can see akeenans point though. the first time (few times) i went to japan I was massively interested to see lots of tokyo, osaka, kyoto etc. tokyo is great as it's such a huge contrast to any city in australia even for people who live in sydney CBD like I do, let alone for people from the burbs! for the first timer in japan I would say tokyo is a must and you could spend most of your trip doing things in and around tokyo and not be disappointed. but after you've done things there, and in osaka etc you get keen for something different but still japanese.
  9. I haven't spent much time in hiroshima, but if you go there okonomiyaki town is worth a visit for sure. it's a multi-story building just packed with small restaurants selling okonomiyaki and super cold beer. also, if you go to hiroshima, miyajima is just a train and ferry ride away. about 40min on the train from memory and the ferry is like 5-10min. miyajima is definitely worth seeing. I haven't really done anything west much so I can't give any real advice, but I can't really think of anywhere i've gone in japan that i've been disappointed, so I say go for it.
  10. keep dreaming pete, you butt pirate. you couldn't drive a nail through a custard skin.
  11. I should add 33 GTR rims are also a great choice one a 32, and are cheaper to buy, and cheaper to get tyres for. they are 17X9 +30 and are still forged and also made by BBS. personally on my 32 GTRs i've had heaps of different wheels. off the top of my head I can remember. kakimoto 17X9s. 3 piece, I liked them 32 GTR wheels 33 GTR wheels 34 GTR wheels Enkei NT-03 Weds TC-01 BBS LM GP Advan SA03R all were forged, all japanese. and none let me down. on the 32 now I run the BBS LMs for road use, and have the weds and the enkei's for track use. and the 32 GTR wheels are spares for my silvia.
  12. you want an easy answer? get 34 GTR rims. they are strong, light(ish), forged, made by BBS, easy to find (if you want a 5th one as spare, or to replace a damaged one), they hold their value, they keep the original GTR theme going, and they look sweet. they are a good size being 18X9 +30 and if you like you can run some 10mm spacers to help them fill out the guards a little more, but they look fine as is too. they do look really good on a white GTR. the dark silver/grey wheel colour is a great contrast against the white. bronze wheels look pretty average on a white car. they are more suited to black/grey/red GTRs.
  13. then you have nothing to worry about.
  14. yeah of course there are ways to stop it happening, but they only work if you do it before your engine is built. ie it needs to be checked while everything is in the build.
  15. lol, with nearly 12mm lift you will be highly likely to end up with valve meeting piston and any decent rpm... it will certainly need checking and most likely new pistons.
  16. fatz mate your skids are weak. are you sure jenna wasn't driving while you were asleep in the back seat like a good girl? maybe you dreamt the skids?
  17. yeah I the remote DVRs with HDD will definitely fare better as you are much more flexible with mounting. but the HDD handycams i've used and seen used didn't fare so well. but that was a few years ago now when they first hit the scene. we tried some and friends of mine tried them with not much joy and then gave up and went to solid state or back to DV tape. things may have improved a lot since then. so don't all rush out and chuck your HDD handy cams in the bin on my say so!
  18. window net should be fine in place of a window. we have run with just the net in door to door stuff so it should be fine for sprints etc.
  19. yep, exactly. you loose about 2 inches of ride height/ground clearance which can be too much. especially on tracks where you need to grab some kerb/ripple strip to be fast. nothing worse than tearing out something from the underside of your R35. and the floor pan is quite low with the flat floor.
  20. ok, now we are getting closer to beer baron money. $670 is more like it. any advice on where and what to get to piece together a kit with a bullet cam and DV that records to SD or CF card?
  21. I would be using BCPR7ES with a .8mm gap. the 11 denotes a 1.1mm gap. too big if you are running anything other than a completely stock set-up.
  22. it wont skip on every bump, but track use will wreck the Hard disks in most cam corders and DV recorders. the constant vibration and sharp shocks will eventually wreck them. it's purely because hard disks have moving parts, and the platter is spinning at high rpm so all the vibration and sharp bumps don't do it any good. much better to stick with ye olde dv tape, or solid state memory (CF, SD card etc).
  23. damn straight you do!

  24. how does it compare with the POV kit on quality, ease of use? spec? it's pretty close on price.
