  1. cool new toy chris. it should be much cheaper to run than the skyline and just as much fun.
  2. nice. it sure is one mean looking wagon! I like how they used the R35 exhaust tips and a similar design rear bumper too. it works well. I'd have one.
  3. Hi, I don't really want to get off topic in this thread. it's a for sale thread only, not a discussion topic. anyone with off topic questions can pm me. but i'll answer this one. Only 1 workshop was successful in getting compliance for the R35. They only had 25 plates. most have already been done. due to the fall in the aud to import one now would cost around $220,000AUD (over $60K in tax alone) which is far from sensible. So this will definitely be the last brand new JDM car imported and complied for road use in aus.
  4. well there's not such thing really as too much grip for circuit or hill climbs. khana is a bit different though as you may have trouble sliding the car around cones etc with 255 semis and 140rwkw. the idea of some 225 or 235 16s on the 16X8 32 GTR rims is not a bad idea. tyres will be cheaper, should still give you good grip, and you'll be able to rotate them front to rear to extend their life a bit. and 32 GTR rims are nice and strong and not too expensive either.
  5. unless he can show an auction report from japan, or receipts or some other evidence that is has a nismo engine then i'd say no it doesn't check the turbos too. if it has all these upgrades it should be making some decent power, put it on a dyno. it looks to me like a stocker. I'd say the turbos are most likely stock too.
  6. nissan.
  7. lol, you could smoke on planes in the 80s even. used to make me sick as a kid. especially when i'd do long flights like sydney-LA etc. lol, the non-smoking section on a long haul flight was a bit misleading. the whole cabin had a visibility of about 80cm through a cloud of smoke. maybe that's why i smoke now. too much backy exposure as a kid!
  8. love the mufflers. love the intake. keep on trucking mate!
  9. got your pm mate. we'll talk next week. km wise it's less than 100. I'd have to check to tell you exactly but it's only whatever the nissan factory put on it for the post production tests and delivery. a few more pics when it was at the dealer before the put the body wrap on for me.
  10. Hi everyone, I have for sale a brand new R35 GTR. It's a JDM model imported by me in december last year. It's fully complied and will be the last ever JDM R35 GTR imported under SEVS. So in a small way it's a little bit historic. The car is still in it's plastic wrap and has been wrapped with body protection too for it's journey to aus and while it was being complied. It has not been driven at all since it left nissan japan. It was trucked to the wharf, secured in a container, then it's been trucked everywhere since. The spec: Dark Metal Grey R35 GTR optional 5 year paint protection coating and nissan paint care kit dealer option GTR plush floor mats (still new in their wrapping - cost over $2,000 alone!) optional side air-bags (a wise idea in a car this fast) premium dark wheels with the premium bridgestone tyres It comes with all the books and manuals too in dash DVD player with hard drive that automatically copies any CDs you play Nissan will be bringing these to aus, but if you ordered one today you'd be looking at July or later for delivery and the costs are set to rise. This is a chance to save some money and enjoy one of the greatest cars made right now, no waiting, no stuffing around. Price is $158,000 and that is fully registered, on the road, you driving it. Bear in mind nissans prices don't include dealer delivery, other dealer charges, any of these options or any on road costs. but my price includes all of that. If you are seriously interested give me a call 0405 186 433 or send me a message with your details. some pics:
  11. if you run a red light and no cop is there to see it. did it really happen??!
  12. the one in the picture is for a wrx mate... I would say no. it will just be a front pipe as stated in the ad.
  13. eh? not sure how you get that? he didn't quote a price on 4wd sump adapters, just that shipping is $200NZD. and the kits he did quote are 4,000NZ or 5,000NZ. I'm not a currencey expert but I'm pretty sure that's more than the two aussie ones at $650 and $700 + pick-ups. it may be higher quality but at over $3,000 AUD it's more than tripple the price of the most proven/popular one here. btw, i'm not knocking the rips gear. it all looks very nice. and I especially like the really neat fuel systems they make with surge tanks etc. they look amazing. i haven't seen their adapters in the flesh but I'm sure they are good. I haven't seen one of shanes in the flesh either but they look good too and he's certainly put time in. I have seen the proengines ones and they are very good and from speaking to someone who's installed one it works exactly as it's supposed to and is good value too.
  14. I like it. looks very cool.
  15. yep. all the same. the biggest differences you'll get will be from batch to batch and servo to servo. some servos may only do a low volume of 98 ron fuel and have fuel sitting their for longer. some servos may have more contaminants in their holding tanks than others.... etc. but the main point is as it is when it's delivered there is bugger all difference between the main 98 ron fuels (BP, Shell, Mobil, Caltex).
  16. yep, filtering the net by the government would be totally fked and absolutely open to abuse by the government of the day. we don't want to end up like china or (lol) nth korea.... all I can say is thank jeebus i'm with iinet. never seem to have any problem with their service.
  17. lol. too much neatness.... well that and the fact that in big cities they evidently only sell one style and colour of business suit.
  18. in my experience the kaaz are the worst of the lot noise wise. best ones are cusco and tomei and they are still noisy and the new nismo ones are good too (old nismo 2 ways are noisy as hell too). all mech 2way or 1.5way LSDs are going to make some noise/shudder but from what i've experienced kaaz are the worst.
  19. no problem with springs. the only thing that does sometimes happen to sus that hs been sitting around a long time is the top seal dries out a bit or hardens in one area. but if they were good before most likely they will be good now. if you want to know for sure and you're in sydney just take them to heasmans they can easily inspect them and if you like test them to make sure they are ok. should not be too much for a basic check.
  20. well that's not much good. you want some shorter than standard, not longer. I don't think 34 castor rods will give the desired result in a 32 and that's if they will even fit. but yeah, if they are longer than your stock ones then definitely don't use them. a longer rod will give you negative castor which is not what is desirable. you want to dial in some positive castor.
  21. used properly and set to the right torque there is absolutely nothing wrong with using a rattle gun. i've seen plenty of clowns do far more damage wanging them up super tight with giant breaker bars too, and cross threading nuts etc. any tool used improperly will give you problems.
  22. the funny thing is the two guys who would want the lotus to come back most would probably be mark berry and dave loftus as I know they would both want the competition. no one wants an easy win, and guys who are quick always want to compete against the best of whatever is around. looking at the entry list it's definitely too late to change anything for this event. not fair to the guys with lotus and corvettes that are already entered and will no doubt put on a good showing. maybe look at it for 2010.
  23. yeah I agree completely. and I know that is the idea of this event. to bring to australia the style of event the HOR guys witnessed when they took berry and newman to Tsukuba in 07. I know Ian was really excited to run that type of event here. and yes, the nismo super GT team doesn't show up at tsukuba to teach poor old garage saurus or m-speed a lesson! I think the hard part is cars like the lotii are still exciting to watch and anyone building a racing event wants to try and include as many cars/drivers as possible, not seek to exclude people. and especially when those cars are at the top of the tree it can look like sour grapes. but given that these guys already have classes and events to compete in I think it's probably worthwhile making this event for japanese models only. or else have a seperate 'euro/non japan' class that you can run in with your porsche cup car or your GT spec HPE lotus. because it's going to be a tall ask to get an evo/wrx/GTR/silvia/whatever japanese production based car to compete with something like the hpe lotii or a 997 cup car. Mark came close in his 32 as did Dave loftus in Jeff's BSM 32 but both those cars are about as good as it gets for time attack type GTRs in aus. and both driven by very handy drivers. It's nothing against the lotii by the way. I love what they are achieving and I know peter lucas well enough from when we ran in prod sports a few years back and it's great to see him doing so well. he's a great guy. so what do you reckon nathan? japanese based cars only? or seperate class for non-japanese cars?
  24. north haverbrook. why the very name conjures up romance and intrigue. we could hold it next to their worlds biggest moon bounce or over near the ultimate fighting zoo?
  25. GTR seats are a bit different though to fibreglass race seats as they are just a wire frame wrapped in foam then trimmed. would be much more $$$ and the hard bit is getting fabric to match the passenger seat and door trims etc. the only easy way to cure them is buy a generally less worn passenger seat and use the fabric off that. still not easy though.
