  1. can the V8 supercars keep up with an R35 though? hehe.
  2. it's pretty old news. the final spec V mods list has been out for a bit now. but the biggest hurdle with the spec V is the price. it's double the price of a 'regular' GTR. So would I rather have 2 X R35s, 1 for street, 1 for track. or just 1 Spec V? or even better just the 1 regular R35 and $100K to spend on a completely different car of my choice. I think it's a no brainer. Don't get me wrong all the Spec V parts are highly desirable but I don't think they make the car twice as good to warrant paying double the price. the cost of the parts may warrant charging double the price but to my eyes I wouldn't be buying one.
  3. it looks good mate. you certainly don't muck around! I'll be interested to see where the car ends up weight wise. they may be some saving in the engine, and lots of sheet metal gone, but then lots of steel added back in with the gearbox frame, new firewall, new floor, roll cage etc. I honestly couldn't guess if it will be lighter than stock or heavier. please let us know.
  4. very nice looking sump. any serious skyline with decent power is worth a good sump. for info a trust sump is way, way over $1000 by the time you buy the extension and have it professionally welded on. this is good value for a enlarged and baffled sump.
  5. nice of them to send you the drawing. it might be worthwhile getting the 32 GTR one as well for merli etc so they can confirm it's all sweet before install. kind of a customer implemented QA.
  6. ah, well if you want to go that way then R34 gears are the way to go. but to be honest most people want more acceleration/less top speed. going to 3.9s will give you more top speed but cost you acceleration. considering with the stock gearing you can get to 300km/h (which without decent power you'll never see on any aus track) then i'm not sure what you want to make it even higher still? you may need to confirm though that the 34 crown wheels and pinion gears will work with your 33 diffs. i'm not sure as I've never heard of anyone actually wanting the 3.9 gears. unlesss you live neat the autobahn and want to play with some ferraris and lambos!
  7. the super coppermix nismo twin is more drivable than the HKS clutch. get the nismo. it's a top shelf clutch. very easy to drive and holds decent power.
  8. probably the cheapest way out is to get a 1 piece shaft made. the standard 2 piece shaft do tend to flog out the centre coupling/bearing. and it's prone to coping a whack every now and then too. UAS www.nismo.com.au sell 1 piece 32 GTR shafts.
  9. guys I know Shaun. he has really tried to do the absolute best for this car in every respect. when I met him I was impressed with how fastidious he was about his car and how enthusiastic about the build he is. if you are going to be a heavily modified car you want it to be one like this. he even has a MASSIVE album with all the pics of the build. like a family photo album only full of his car... :0
  10. if you want a rough idea save and then email the above pics to [email protected] tell them richard with all the skylines recommended you ask them. they are a good panel beater and have done work on quite a few cars for me. they can at least give you a rough idea so you know what you're getting into.
  11. i get it a little bit lately. for now, if it happens just hit refresh and it'll be fine. no need to click back etc.
  12. if you want to use the towie/car carrier type ones you posted talk to your trailer builder and see if they can think of a way to mount these in the trailer floor with enough strength in the mounting. it may just require another play underneath to stop it ripping out. or it may just need to be welded on rather than bolted, or both.
  13. you could consider something like this instead ben.
  14. looks good enough to me. the cage looks very good too. very neat and I like the new rear firewall.
  15. more like 31 up ya bum...
  16. yes masterfoods grinder is included free of charge! (this is not chat, serious answer). note the serious face. but if you sell the porsche what would I ride around in if I'm over your way? I don't want to head all the way over to UAE only to drive my old car!! anyway, having said all that it looks like I finally have 2 serious guys asking me all the right questions so hopefully something will happen in the next day or so.
  17. my advice. get some decent tyres on your current wheels. 235s all round. then buy a set of stock 33 GTST wheels (should be no more than $150) they are 16X7. fit them with some cheap 205 215 or 225 16s. used, new whatever. when you get to the track you will now have 2 sets of rear tyres that you can use till they're gone. the smaller, cheap, 16s will be much easier to spin which means you'll be able to initiate drift at lower speed than with the 17s which is good when you're starting out and don't have the confidence/skill for higher speed stuff. plus you can wear them out safe in the knowledge that you have good tyres to drive home on. and having the same front and rear 'good' tyres means you can rotate as needed. also 16inch tyres are always going to be cheaper than 17s.
  18. tyre noise is generally right at the bottom of the list of concerns for a track tyre. generally you want grip, consistency, feel, tyre life, and cost. noise doesn't really rate.
  19. it's mainly for aesthetics. and sound, and some belief of a power increase (very rare to see more than a very small increase between a good free flowing intake and pod vs open compressor mouth). and of course it's not a good idea for any kind of street or circuit use.
  20. take the offer!! it's a 10 min job to remove ecu. pop it in an express post satchel with a self addressed one inside and your in business. that way you'll know where you're at, and if it has a stupid high rev limit as many japanese chips do then you can get it set to something sensible (ie under 8,000).
  21. well done. it must be something different in your country. the engine bay looks very neat. Enjoy.
  22. yeah I wouldn't rush out to buy them up front. see how you go first. if the thing fires ok then you don't need them. if you get ignition break down then coil pack replacement MAY be on the cards (still investigate the other ignition related things like plug type, plug heat range and plug gap first.). always look at the cheap solutions first!
  23. is their crank full counter balance?
  24. cool. radio button high boost switch here I come!
  25. the only real viable option is r32 GTS4 gears. 32 GTS4 is actualy 4.375:1 and yes you need both front and rear crown wheel and pinions. they are a good upgrade from the GTR 4.111 gears. and they are not easy to find!
