  1. lol, april fools anyone.... hahahaha. either that or haxor'd.
  2. yeah the specV pricing has me beat. I mean given the choice between one spec V or 2 'regular' R35s I'd much rather 2 GTRs. once nicely modded for track/tarmac rally use and one for street/daily use. perfect. the spec V is nice, and I could understand a 30% or even a 50% premium over the standard model, but 100% is too much to stomach.
  3. mate I am seriously excited about this car. I want a steer of it! I'll do ya a swap for a bit. it is looking really, really good.
  4. does the pope shit in the woods? is a bear catholic? of course it has advanced cardigan control for your goggomobil dart.
  5. the chassis numbers are all R35XXXXXX. the problem is in aus we have a fixed 17 digit Vehicle Identification Number so for SEVS imports they prefix the chassis number with 6U9 and then enough zeroes to get to 17 digits. happens to all low volume imports. it used to be a bit different though. for the nissan cars I imagine they get assigned a proper 17 digit VIN from scratch so it could be anything. the car model is a CBA R35 though. but most will think comm bank R35 if they read that! R
  6. i'm telling you motec is not all that. the new ho-tec v69 is much better. they have an R31 silhouette plug-in and a lada niva plug-in too. working on other models to be released soon (wartburg etc). fatz put me onto them. he's been using them since release.
  7. yep you could run your group a car mate. no slicks though. you'd have to run on some semi-slicks which would make your car pretty hairy, but still worth getting out there for some fun. it's more aimed at current workshop built tuned cars, and also the smaller owner/driver type guys who want a better platform to compete than regular club super sprints.
  8. who is bagging it? no one as far as I can tell. no one doubts it's a great product, but I think people more doubt the effect ANY ecu has on the cars performance overall. as long as the thing can make the injectors and ignition do what the tuner tells them to do, when the tuner tells them then it's much of a muchness between all the ones that can do the job. i don't think mark and russ's r34 is quick cause it runs a motec. it's got a lot of other shit going for it, not least of which is the handsome driver... same as the evo. garth drove the wheels of it to get that 1:12 on a slow track. I run a brotec in my GTR and it's pretty awesome too. has closed loop washer motor control and keeps my windscreen clear at all times. looking to upgrade to the new ho-tec V69 ecu soon though...
  9. do not let them convince you that the car needs to be complied (or needed to be complied). if it's a personal import all that is required is the engineers sign off and basic rego items in the first place. then after that there should be no problems. make them understand the differences between the different import schemes (SEVS, old CPA scheme, old 15 year scheme, new pre "89 scheme, and personal import scheme). If you don't understand those differences yourself spend some time reading up on the DOTARS site and the import section of SAU. I would say though that the check is most likely a check to ensure the car is not a rebirth/stolen car. in NSW they (the RTA) do this all the time. Vehicle Identity Check. They just make sure the car is not cut and shut, and that numbers have not been tampered with etc.
  10. it's a stock box, but with an ebay short shifter for quicker shifts. works well.
  11. hk is horse kower. but I want to know what parts to suite are and how the procedure is pinless? where do the pins normally go in this suite?
  12. good work on the raffle win russman. it was a cool prize! and yeah I believe you can pick a set to suit your car. my advise is go for GTR size! some nice 17X9 +20s or even 18s if they'll let you, or whatever suits your car if you want to keep 'em. it was very decent of yokohama to put up a set of good rims like that for the cancer council. i certainly bought a few tickets for the cause. sorry I didn't get to meet you. it was a crazy busy weekend and I was catching up with dozens and dozens of people.
  13. yes back cutting your turbine wheels will cure the surge. no it's not the best way to go about it. compressor surge is a conditon that happens when the turbo is producing more air than the engine can ingest at a given rpm. an easy way out is make the turbo less effecient at low rpm. back cut exhaust wheel will do that as it wont spin up the compressor as early. downside is loss of response. upside is surge cured and it can flow more exhaust gas up top so possibly an increase in peak power. anti surge compressor covers are another way to do it. they have holes or slots around the compressor inlet and this can reduce/eliminate surge. if nismoid reckons that returning to the stock GTR piping and BOVs then I'd try that first. it's cheap and has no downside (apart from looks maybe).
  14. bummer the car was super quick all day. and in fact all the cars seemed to be pretty reliable with no big stacks and no big blow ups which was nice to see. a few little dramas but nothing that caused any oil downs etc.
  15. sweet! now that's exciting. now you know it exists for real, and that it's name is 6U9000CBAR35004759. just don't call it's name out in bed... lol.
  16. track was pretty green. lots of oversteer when I was driving it, and russ was 2 seconds off his best from last time. but I'd say most of that was track condition. bigger (wider) tyres would help for sure.
  17. yes, the white bel/insight/garth walden evo took out pro class fastest qualifier and FTD, but something happened in the superlap. mark took that one with an awesome lap which was also his own FTD. he was thinking there would be no grip and no hope of improving so he just let it all hang out and gained a little time on his previous best. there is a lot more to come from the car though.
  18. well I drove a 35 on 19inch TE37s with toyo semis at the weekend. ride height was definitely a concern but was ok around oran park. the car felt good. I didn't really do too much kerb hopping but it was ok on the big bump at turn 4. the 19inch TE37s are probably the best looking 'downgrade' of wheels i've seen so far. definitely look better than the 18inch options out there.
  19. the car will definitely have some kms on it before it even leave japan. they do some testing in japan, and there is car movement/delivery in japan too. average i've seen is between 30 and 80km. could be a little higher though. I'd say anything over 100 would be out of the norm, and 150 i'd raise an eyebrow. 200+ would raise both eyebrows....
  20. great pics mate. some really good ones of mark in the 34.
  21. Adz picked it. the track was definitely slower than last year. maybe 1 to 2 seconds off. possibly due to lots of rain during the week and no big events with cars on slicks running for a bit. when I was driving on saturday the track felt very green. which just goes to show how fast the evo with garth driving is. he still bagged a flat 12 which is stupid fast! well done to those guys. mark and russ were happy. a 13.6 on the cars first outing was great, and that was with no front drive. the car was toasting the rear tyres for most of the track. apart from that the car ran faultlessly all day. haha, it looks like a drift car!
  22. looking good boys.
  23. yeah, there is something not quite right with awd. not exactly sure what but it's not getting enough front drive. we changed transfer case on saturday and it was a little better in the morning, but not much. mark reckons possibly a sensor failure or awd ecu not receiving an input (like TPS) as it's getting some pressure but not enough, which means it's baking the transfer case which means it gets worse and worse. on top of that they have a fair bit more torque than before and trying to put that power down on 265 semis is not easy, hell even some of the evos which are much lighter and with less toque run 285s! the car went so well for it's first outing. nothing broke and apart from the little awd issue it ran absolutely perfectly. a credit to mark and russ for their hard work and all the other guys who worked on it too. mark drove the absolute wheels off the thing too and watching the in-car last night just goes to show he must have a giant set a it looks scary to drive. scary fun that is.... i'm sure russ will post some when he gets home, but i'd say the car is wheel spinning about 3/4s of the time! It's sideways from turn 5 all the way up the hill and onto the bridge through 3rd and 4th. then sideways off the bridge all the way to the S. and yes cnj tune it.
  24. personally I reckon this is a bit of a pointless exercise. insurance quotes vary from person to person so much and for reasons most of us don't even know. just because LSX got a quote for $2100 from XYZ insurance doesn't mean you will when you call there. they will take into account age, location, sex, driving history, previous claims and possibly even how long you've insured with the company, how many other cars you have insured with the company etc. so many times we've had these threads where frank only pays $50 PA for his R35 so why can't I get that price etc. the only way to get the best price for yourself is ring as many companies as you can and get as many quotes as you can.
  25. for a 32 GTR the most common place is the passenger side front brake duct. you'll need to cut out part of the guard liner behind the cooler to give the air somewhere to escape too and use some thing sheet metal to duct around the core. you may or may not need longer lines. that's about it. drivers side there is not enough room with factory BOVs or most twin BOVs.
