  1. well I ain't payin fo 2 weddins.
  2. can't say I agree with that. if you want to go from this time attack style formula to door handle to door handle then you need to realise the changes. cars would need to be log booked and have approved, welded in cages drivers would need NC licences instead of L2S (cost goes from $100 a year to hundreds, and many more onerous requirements) you would need proper nomex suits (min $600 worth of safety gear) that is just the tip of it. there are plenty of classes available if you want to do 'proper' circuit racing. this is a fun, cheap alternative. door handle to door handle means you need a budget of a least a few thousand per meet and a dedicated circuit car.
  3. if you want to try and do a practice day before hand you can share my loaner mate. for sure on some good street rubber like maybe AD07s or the RE01Rs you would be up the pointy end of street class, but you may find on the semis you are still up the pointy end in open class too.
  4. haha, join open class you pu55y jack! we both know you are fast enough to mix it with those guys. and dave, if you are not driving the starlet let me have a crack in it! I am a terrible driver but an excellent talker. Tell us what times do you do in the starlet around OP GP? put some fear into these GTR drivers.
  5. there are lots of gay little clip things in the bottom of the front bar, and you screw threw them. thre are also some little square headed bolts and you put nuts on them. it's a bitch to do with the bumper on the car. my advice is take the bumper off, attach lip then refit the whole thing in one hit.
  6. oh oh. I see lofty lurking in here. bad news for us all! bring the starlet dave...
  7. my advice is don't buy one at all. they are a waste of time and space in your car. I have had one in most of my cars, and they all shit me. I've only bought one once when I was about 19 because I thought it would be cool, and it show'd speed, lap times etc too. since then they have all just been in cars that I bought, and if I wasn't so lazy I probably would have ripped them out. it's far better practice to just take it easy for the last few mins of driving, let the car idle for 30 seconds or so then shut it off.
  8. yeah they tend the feather and die. or if they are band new they just peel tread off in stips. d'oh!
  9. yeah mate I am probably with you on that point. most guys I know running at the circuit use R comps even on mild road cars. and I reckon a set of decent R comps will probably cost me less and last longer on track that a really good set of road tyres (think of the price of some top level michelien or pirelli's). but I guess it's one easy way to distinguish the classes. on the upside my GTR on a set of crummy road tyres wont need decent brakes as tyre grip will be so minimal.
  10. yes I wonder how much of these problems can be attributed to everyone having to run a maclaren ECU? it certainly didn't seem to get along too well with the ferrari's...
  11. I assume type is either the variant (ie GTST) or they mean street/race. actually they have type twice so the first one would be variant. as for log book you don't have one. obviously if your car is logbooked then you would put the number in. only applies to cams log booked cars.
  12. I would love to see some hardcore NA cars screaming around out there. NSX. integra. civic. I know there is plenty of kick ass ones around.
  13. yeah basically just as close to the centre as you can.
  14. it's never a certainty until it's done! but as far as I know at least 2 companies will have compliance for the R35 GTR. the problem with the stagea was a simple one. that car was not a world market model (the GTR is) and as such it did not comply with the relevant emissions levels for Aus (it complied with a less stringent japanese reg). So when the time came for providing evidence that it could..... it couldn't. The GTR does comply. That is not to say it's a given though. We will just have to wait.
  15. all CAMS super sprints I have done in NSW allow japanese cages but it is at the scrutineers discretion. no event where a cage is required will allow them, but pretty much any event that is not door handle to door handle racing will.
  16. I reckon anyone with the coin to build a 400rwkw RB25, or a 3.4l 2JZ should be aspiring to open class anyway. I'm assuming of course if you pour big money into a motor you will put equal amounts into braking and suspension too. Your little 800kg FWD would be pretty quick around OP I reckon. It has just the main straight (fairly short and fairly low speed onto the straight) then another little straight between turns 2 and 3. only a couple of quicker corners but you need a pretty well balanced car and nice torquey responsive engine or at least some good close gear ratios to get quick around there. I would say it's slightly more a handling circuit than HP circuit. the right driver in the right car does not need much power to put in quick laps around it.
  17. yeah I think it's a good way to go. hell if my GTR is quick I will run it in open class purely so I can use semi's. if it's not I'll run the silvia in clubsprint class. and I have to say, it's an awesome idea and will be sure to sell out.
  18. personally I reckon the old way was better. cars with engine conversion etc should be in open class. apart from anything else watching someone with their supermega RB30 build pushing say 400rwkw doing laps on their nangkangs (as semi-slicks are not allowed) is going to be scary. I think the whole idea of the clubsprint class is for the less seriously modified cars. engine conversion throws that out the window. doesn't worry me too much, but in most other types of racing engine conversion puts you into open. as it should be.
  19. carry on then!
  20. lol, if they can get me a brand new R35 GTR with under 100kms (not 1000, not 10,000 but 100), landed and on the road for under $100K as they clam then I am in. whoever is selling them compliance for $5K is the most generous, benevolent sevs workshop on earth! I really can't see it happening though.
  21. word to that. the little chips out of the side of my old balancer can back that up!
  22. of my two PCs at home, one has vista, one has XP. vista sucks. who cares if it's hacked, why would anyone want it? even for free it's a rip off.
  23. yes it will work with a 32 engine. no you wont need an adapter loom. yes you will need the 2 apexi MAP sensors, and the sensor harness, and 2 X nipples. be aware that to install it you will need to remove the inlet plenumn (which is a pretty big job). yes ABS and AC etc will still all work. no you don't NEED a hand commander but I would suggest you get one.
  24. yeah I officially rule that david coulthard is a funny bastard.
