  1. pics mate. we need pics.
  2. yeah I think the dooood may be sailing a bit close to the wind with comments like that. it's very amatuer stuff.
  3. 8kg is very good for 18X10.5. very light.
  4. he was saying 23kgs is the amount of weight saved. most titanium systems would be under 6kg.
  5. a transaxle is a rear mounted gearbox and diff in one unit driving the rear wheels. independent refers to the suspension arrangement at the rear as being an independent rear end. they have combined the two. also, we can all stop saying 'rear mounted transaxle' by it's very definition a transaxle is mounted in the rear. it's like saying atm machine. as for it being the first independent transaxle i'm not sure. there have been a few road cars with transaxles over the years but I don't know many of them in depth. I have done a bit of work with alfa transaxles and they are a de-dion transaxle (ie not independent). It's still not clear to me whether or not they claim the first independent transaxle, or the first independent transaxle with AWD.
  6. hmmm I dunno. lol but whichever dumb ass it belongs to it's sure going to be full when you consider that what's in there is less than half it's payload. I'll try and get some pics of the sunline boxes too.
  7. dont forget your carbon widebody and kagotani front bar and diffuser are finished and packed into the largest cardboard boxes known to man!
  8. honestly if you are buying "the whole mines catalogue" as you say, you will get a far better result if you either send your car there for the work, or sell your car, buy another 34 GTR in japan, send it to mines before export, then import it here. and the mines gear is nice, but it's no super magic GTR as the mines fan boys would have you believe. there is nothing really revolutionary in their cars. sure it's very nice work but there are dozens of equally competent workshops all over japan, and some good ones in aus too.
  9. no they are not the same as a GTR. as far as I know they have a viscous LSD in the rear and an open diff in the front. BTW R34GTFOUR, no GTR has a viscous diff in either end. they are a 2 way LSD rear and an open diff front.
  10. well I haven't rolled it (yet) but it did withstand my air time over the ripple strip backwards and the nice 'firm' stop at the concrete wall turn 10 EC. just as little moment of black on impact but apart from that it's all good. it also survived that japanese drifting at fuji I showed you complete with mega 10,000+ rpm and lots of curb! it's all yours big boy, just buy some DV tape and you are ready to rock.
  11. best bang for buck is probably an RB25 turbo. past that maybe an HKS 2530 or similar.
  12. you are such a noob paulie. there is a whole section on R35 and there has been a thread about this in there for days now. ya carnt.
  13. nice, since you edited your post I will reiterate that no car can leave the docks without a VIA. so what if some cars are sitting on the docks? no one is driving them, and I don't know of any R35s in this position. as for your point about illegally importing cars as parts I don't personally know of anyone foolish enough to try this, it is totally illegal and penalties would be quite harsh if you were caught. and if as you say the car was for legitimate race use then why not just import it as a race car with the appropriate VIA?
  14. your insider needs to do some more homework mate. half of the points you so kindly raise are incorrect. 3 VIAs issued? wrong, I can't think off the top of my head of more cars than that already in country and as your insider will know no car can leave the docks with out a VIA. 2. that is also wrong. cars imported for tarmac rally use can be granted conditional registration (at least they can in NSW). yes of course they can never be fully road registered cars, but they can for certain purposes be driven on the road. as for people driving the cars under a trade plate who are you to say what they were or were not doing? why would it be unreasonable for them to be driven to gain registration? rally registration requires a blue slip just like anyone else so why could it not be driven there under trade plates? there could be any number of legititmate, legal reasons for moving the car under trade plates. it's not up to you, or me to speculate as to what they were doing.
  15. australia is not the 'rest of the world' we are but one tiny, tiny market. by all accounts the UK, EU and US cars will be very close to the japanese domestic market cars in performance, that is what matters to the world market. australia doesn't even rate a mention.
  16. LOL. all you get is a bare engine mate. there is no mines tune to save. you still need all the ancillaries, turbos, ECU, tuning etc to go with it. it's a $30K proposition to have one running nicely in the car. at least. as for fuel difference, it is negligible difference. fuel in japan is not some magic super liquid everyone seems to think it is. the hi-oku good stuff at japanese servos is about 100-102ron as best I can find out. most premium fuels would be fairly similar to out 98ron or 100ron fuels.
  17. I hope you didn't pay very much for them as they aren't DBA 5000s. they are 4000s.
  18. no it wont. no one much outside of australia cares what happens in australia. we are a tiny market and are also geographically isolated from the rest of the world. selling a de-tuned version here wont mean bugger all to all their customers in US, UK and Asia. I agree it will be very dissapointing if it happens, but it's certainly within the realm of possibility.
  19. that is pretty gay. de-spec the car and it's worth 8/10ths of bugger all really. The whole appeal of this car is it's performance. are nissan aus going to go back to the nurburger and say, well our GTR laps in 8min 10 second, but hey at least it's cheap.... if people wanted a cheap car they'd buy a fcking micra.
  20. you're a monkey wrench.
  21. yes I have one in a couple of cars purely because with the full racing seat and roll cage it's hard to get in and out of the car with the wheel in place. but for purely street use be aware they are illegal, are easily spotted and for anti theft they are easily defeated. if they have a wheel with one half of the quick release attached they can just pop a wheel on and away they go. or even if they just have a bare wheel with them, no boss, they can just unbolt the part of the quick release that is there, and bolt on their wheel. if you need one for access reasons, or need the wheel spaced closer to you, they are a great idea. but as an anti theft device I think not very good. full insurance is the only fool proof way to safeguard your car.
  22. besides all that there is no such thing as a C3 or L3 licence these days. it's PC or NC or NR. :D
  23. if he wants it to live I'd advise sticking with 8,000rpm. stock limit is 7500 and to be honest with smallish low mounts and small cams there is no need to rev past that. for street use, sure blip it to 8,000 every now and then if you want some fun, but on the circuit, nothing will hurt your engine more than pulling big revs. look at all the reliable circuit GTRs, none of them run revs more than 8000 or 8500 tops. and many stick to around 7500. drag racing of course is another story.
  24. if you have a decent alarm then foget the removable wheel as a theft detterent. get comprehensive insurance. it's the ONLY way to have yourself properly protected.
  25. yeah for sure. some mini DV cams you can get fairly cheap wide angle adapters for, but not mine sadly but anyway, it's not really too bad. I can see steering wheel, gear stick, the gauges and the track.
