  1. [Darren Hinch] Shame , Shame , Shame [/Darren Hinch]
  2. Yes I know - and that's not fair either - All care and no responsibility. I know I'm discussing this pointlessly - Everyone just accepts it - However, if we all didn't just accept the situation - the software vendors would do different - IMHO.
  3. Hey - put it this way - if Skylines weren't so popular - We would not be having this discussion on this forum right now. It's all good people. Just get another car , if you want a unique car - or turn your skyline into a convertible - I'd like to see that !
  4. So do you agree that it is unfair ? I just think commercial operating systems should quality control their products better - MS are making quillions so they should be able to afford too. The vulerability was Microsoft's problem in the first place in my mind - had it not been there - No Blaster. Simple as that in my mind. I know all software vendors release product with bugs - but I reckon they should test it better before they release it - Not Linux and GPL software cause no-one makes $$ out of that the same way MS, Oracle, Peoplesoft, SAP, etc make money. Imagine if SAP had a bug in their payroll module - then some shmuck decides to exploit it because he's pissed with his brother-in-law or whatever. And becasue of the exploit - no one gets paid for 2 months while SAP write and distribute the patch - That woiuld be un-acceptable right ? SAP's fault right ? Software is software - you pay for a product - It should work. That's only my view of course - And I do tend to wear rose coloured glasses looking at the perfect world out there - Cause I am pretty perfect myself, NOT. Cheers
  5. Hey, Imagine this: You buy a new Ford XR6 Turbo (of course) 2005 model Falcon. (ie. analogy is PC P7 5 Ghz with Windows 2005). You drive your XR6 around and everything is great. Goes strong, fuel economy is OK - all performing to specification (analogy is you play a few games on the PC for a month - fantastic) Then one day you fill up with petrol - you might be say, on holidays in central Australia. (Analogy - you subscribe to an ISP for internet access) At first - the car goes well - same as normal - you travel around Australia a bit more - you fill up at the same Chain of Petrol Station all the time cause they offer you the best deal. ( You download lots of pRon cause it is good and cheap) All of a sudden - Your car is consumimg petrol at 10 litres per kilometer - and the car is going really bad. (eg Blaster) ( the pRon downloads are costing heaps more than before) You take your car to the nearest dealer (ring your ISP) 200kms away & it costs you $180 in petrol (Internet charges) (and 6 hours on the phone with Ben or Tosh cause you are a shmuck when it comes to the internet) Car dealer (ISP/Petrol company) finds that the problem was that the settings for the fuel line were bad thus fuel was being wasted all over the place - common problem - all 2005 XR6's do that - Ford (Microsoft) admitted it (eg Microsoft vulerability that causes Blaster to eat bandwith - Microsoft admitted the vulverability cause they released a patch) You get the car fixed for free (you download the patch) (BTW it's not really free cause you gotta pay your ISP for the bandwidth) Then you ask the Ford for the $180 you spent in petrol - (Internet bandwidth) Will they (Ford/Microsoft) give it to you ???
  6. Ha ha - yeah yeah ! User's fault or Microsoft's fault ? ISP's & software providers have an obligations - Internet is a service, Software as a product should work - This Blaster thing is causing such high packet loss on the net - Currently, I am not getting the service I signed up for. - I don't have Blaster cause my firewall stopped it and I patched straight away - But my 'Internet Service' sucks ass ATM - Not my fault, Not My ISP's fault. Who's getting away with it ?? That's the bit that shits me ! Not much I can do about it - but if the whole internet community did - different story.
  7. Tosh, Ben - Interested to know if 'Blaster traffic' is billable by your organisations ? I'm trying to find out form Telstra.......??? PS - Smoothwall is the shit ! Works great - free - no probs !
  8. I understand gapless rings are better than the ones that ARIAS provides - Any comments on this ? Lepperfish - who's doing your rebuild ? PM if you want. Cheers,
  9. Yeah - Common as dog fu(k ! I'm gonna get me a unique car one of these day ! But I'll still keep the Skyline cause they are the shit ! :burnout:
  10. Hmmmmmmm - that would be unique..............
  11. Duncan - Are you using the XP Style as I found it doen't work with that - You need to use the std style (the dark one) - I think Cheers,
  12. Hey SG - Welcome. You may want to post a new thread in the General Auto section on your 'won't start' problem - You'll get a heaps better response in there. Cheers,
  13. Let us know how you go dude
  14. What ever it is , it must be still in the shop - went in of friday - now Sunday and no indication from Duncan yet. So, prolly not plugs as that would have been done first, and Duncan would have his car back and have told us what it was. Or , not. I stick by my original analysis.
  15. In the faint hope that someone has the following bits gathering dust - I might be interested in the following: I know this is vague - but I'm not 100% sure which way I am going yet - thought I'd post this up on the off chance. RB26/GTR Crank RB26/GTR Rods RB26/GTR head - maybe..... (complete only) Or GTR motor that requires rebuild (or maybe one that doesn't require a rebuild) I will buy parts individually of different parties, but also will pay more to buy all parts from one party (buying individually is risky for me as I may not even get the other parts, if you get what I mean ?) Anyway, PM me.
  16. He he - Mark - no mate , Skyline owners and car enthusiasts are the winners mate ! You might be very surprised on the day !! Everything may not be as it seems ! he he When is Jamboree anyway ???
  17. Put me down Nick.
  18. What ever - I want to get to one of them - Damn it ! Hey Frankie - well spotted on the escalator !! Cheers !
  19. I agree actually - can't be good ;-(
  20. Surely they would have just melted into oblivion if they came of in the head ???
  21. The pintle caps are the little plastic bits that 'claw' around the bottom of the injector right ???? What affect does broken pintle caps have on the injection system, pattern and flow ? ?? The reason I ask is because ALL of my pintle caps were broken when I pulled my injectors out to take a peek !
  22. Steve, it was running OK right ? Did this just happen ? Cause these are similar symptoms to mine right after - well you know what....... Rough idle, stalls at idle. Is it rough all the way through the rev range or just at idle ?
  23. Yeah - V.Interested. Never been to a GP yet - always wanted too. Are we driving down ?? Yeah baby !
  24. Small electrical problem most likely ..........conrod through the starter motor.
  25. Tubular manifold for std/hiflowed turbo - YES definitely. When I ripped my turbo off the other day, the std exhaust manifold looked pretty ordinary - I reckon that there has to be more power/effeciency in a tubular manifold. The problem is connecting the cooler, dump, wastegate pipes up as well - but saying that they are all in fairly standards positions.. ? (As GTS-t VSPEC pointed out) Roy, do you know who does these ? They prolly are expensive hey ?
