  3. Exactly - each to their own But which one would out perform the other ? Still no-one has answered my question (Except maybe Jamezilla) ha ha . ha ha - No worries fellas, it's all good. GTRs and GTS-ts are both Skylines still and both very good cars outright. Bang for buck has got to be a GTS-t (stock) GTRs on the other hand, if you can afford them - sound like fantiastic cars. I wish I had driven one....... Seems to me everyone that has their GTRs are happy with them so that's all that matters.
  4. Ahhhh - I think Predator has struck something here. Modding cars - people make mistakes along the way yes - so the $26k needs to be spent wisely. Oh and BTW - I'm really hoping this is not an argument, but a discussion. Wreckedhead - yeah I put a budget on it - the scope is R33s not R32s. And I don't know where you can get a modded R33 GTR for 45K - well maybe zorst etc, but not the same sort of mods that you can get for $26K on top of the buy price. I could asked the same question this way: If you had $45K to spend on a 1995 R33 Skyline (for either Drag, Track or Drift) - would you get GTR or a modded GTS-t. Which would perform better ? Pesonally I wouldn't get a GTS-T for Drift only, after drifting mine - Those S13/14/15 are great for that. You wanna cheap as chips car for drifting cause you know you are gonna ding it.
  5. I completely agree and understand why people buy GTRs over a GTS-t they are all valid points. And yes a GTS-t will always be a GTS-t. But that was not my original question. So for those who know more then me about Stock GTRs and Modified GTS-ts - does anyone have an answer ? $26K is a lot of modding moolah.... I suppose we should also qualify the discussion by adding $26K worth of the 'right' mods - as you could easily spend $26K on the wrong mods.

  7. Doh - B-Man's maths is a bit ordinary - $26 worth of mods - Yeah , Let me adjust the post. And no, I haven't driven a GTR which is why the thrust of this thread is purley subjective on my part. But I would have it a guess that a GTS-T with $26K spent on it would outperform a stock GTR at the drag strip and at the circuit - and definitely at a drift circuit. (With same driver for each event - ie a good one) Keep the debate flowing boys.
  8. Maybe we remove the street car factor - Cause if you want to compare street cars, both are great and depends how much $$ you have and what you like driving on the street. If you talk about depreciation then we all know a modded care will be worth less than the stock car plus the $$ in mods spent - so lets not go there. So lets assume you are building the car to drive it in your flavour of racing/motorsport and that you are going to keep the car for a while cause you love it !
  9. Mate - I was running on low boost yesterday - 280 rwkw and It was scary when the brakes faded. I'm too chicken to run on high boost - 330 rwkw + without a brake upgrade... ha ha
  10. Ha ha - This thread might get interesting. It may have been done before , but there might be a few more real world experiences around now. Take one 1995 R33 GTR - $45K Take one 1995 R33 GTS-t $19K and then spend $26 in mods on it. I know it is dependant on what actual mods were done, but lets say for this example we had 3 x GTS-ts (depending on your flavour of driving/racing) First GTS-t - $26K Set up for Drag Second GTS-T - $26K Set up for Track work Third GTS-T - $26K set up for Drift Where would you spend your $45K and why ? For me, buying a standard GTS-t would be more fun because: 1) I get to play with the car by modding it 2) I get the car I want 3) I think it would be a better overall package for the same $$ The only downside is that it is not a "GTR" per se - Anyway, let the debate begin.
  11. Yeah - I'm a bit with you on this one Adam. I vote for consistant class/categories next time. I went out the first and second times and knew who was who when I was diving around. Then in 3rd session I saw one of those well set up MR2s in my rear vision mirror, trying to overtake my round the twisties. - I just let him go - But man, I didn't think they were in our class. And secondly I thought rules were rules - no overtaking round the twisties (unless the other car was going really really slow) - I thought that bit was a bit dangerous. But all in all, I had some fun and the car survived so all good.
  12. Reviving this thread from the dead after I got brake fade (at wakefield) on my Std brakes with SBS pads. Was scary stuff in my car. UAS are working on a high quality adaptor for std calipers that will allow me to run the DBA 5000 slotted rotors. Now that seems like a good first step. The rotors are re-usable with the Brembos or AP Racing calipers in the future if needed. So if I go the rotors, braided lines and good pads - I can see how that goes - if I need more, I can take the next step. My question is - Since the DBA5000s are larger than the standard rotors, will the standard calipers/pad have enough surface area for the larger rotors ?? I understand that mounting the calipers with the adaptor will mean the everything fits - but will the pads miss out on some nice juicy rotor ?? (Means if I put larger rotors on later, the rotors will have worn uneavenly maybe ????)
  13. Second session for it , I think. The high tensile stud that holds one of the cam belt idler pulleys sheared straight off. So the valves stopped working but the bottom end kept going - ooops. John was very disappointed - But he can rebuild it !
  14. Yeah was a good day - Best time I got was 1:16 flat. Thought I might do better as the day went on but un-fortunately headache returned and called it a day at 3:00ish. Commiserations to : 1) John for B-Manning his motor. 2) The guy I met with the nice GTiR (sorry can't remember your name) - Who also B-Manned his motor. I can genuinely say - that I know how you feel B-Man's motor survived yet another track day - Yay ! Must do something about the standard brakes next - I feel ... Chris, Chris...hello Post more pics all ! Those Soarers were a bit how's your Father - hey ?? Nice looking and sounding, but theu didn't like going around corners. There were some seriously quick MR2's there. (Sorry not your's Nick) And two awsome GTRs that were doing 1.07's I think. Was a good day. Thanks to John and all the UAS crew. Cheers,

  23. I'm just about to put 265s on 17" x 9" rims - but that doesn't help you much - Sorry ! I will be able to tell you how much clearance I have left though - and I am looking at getting my rear guards rolled, if I scrape.
