  1. Hey man, in my experience, if you just want a nice daily with good power and reliability then (in order): -full service regardless of what the odo says, including all fluids, plugs, timing belt etc -buy full 3inch turbo back exhaust with cat -lightweight intercooler but dont go too big and buy one that retains stock position with no holes cut -buy ECU and boost control and have them installed and tuned at once these mods will be the best for street use in my opinion - regards to the intercooler, weight aint good at the front end and response is hindered by large core and pipes
  2. u know what? i have no idea about the people who grade the cars, i think they go by the paint, straight bodywork, clean engine bay and interior. my first car was an r33 gts-4 with a grade 4 (this was back in 02) went with holford motors and it was very plesant but the wait was grrrrrrr. lolz the second one, as was a bit more money, i had someone go to japan and pick one for me so was no nail-biting all the best with ur training! nothing is more respectable than hard work as the rewards are well earned.
  3. lolz not sure about that one but the rear tailgate switch went after only a few years + rubber components in the suspension crack quite often and need to be replaced - this is for a discovery 3 though
  4. In a way i agree with joeyjoejoe who says to buy one with basic mods already done as it saves some coin. Im simply talking as someone who likes stockers as you know that their longevity has probably not been compromised - then again, there is no real way to know. Importing is easy if you can wait, ive imported 2 car now: an r33 gts in 2002 and an r34 gtr in ?? couple of years ago. Find someone who seems reliable and trustworthy, there are some importers on here who have good feedback. Also, check those unique auto magazines as just yesterday in the doctors office i saw a black r34 gtt for 19k just imported in excellent condition. all the best with the search. if u find one privately, make sure u get a full mechanical inspection from a 'knowing' mechanic
  5. hey man, if you have some time to wait, why not import your own gtt from japan - that way you can pick one with a good auction rating and completely stock which is always the best way to go. all the best, keep posted if you buy one or import one
  6. -BMW's of that range/era: their automatic gearboxes were built cheap by gm so they let-go quite often, their coilpacks need to be changed often too. My 04 e46 325i blew its gearbox at 40,000kms shortly after i sold it; thats driving smooth with no harsh conditions. go manual and should be fine if you can sacrifice space, buy a hyundai getz; second hand from a dealer u can get a top of the range 5-door with maybe a 4 year warranty left best on fuel and easy to drive/park jsut my opinion but go japanese or korean as they are proven reliable and back their cars with loooong warranties
  7. congrats mate and all the best with the training. an r34 gtt is a great car, can be plenty powerful but a good daily; can handle well too if you do it right. Definitely the search will get you all those answers as alot of people have asked the same questions before. just one tip with suspension, unless your track racing, dont go overkill. As a daily driver you want it to be comfortable and not shake your spine out high grip tyres and tight chassi will beat hard coilovers on the road
  8. landrovers have improved much over the years but they still have their problems: electrics being the main service is very dodgy from dealers as they will overcharge and leave certain things out: replacing brake pads but not machining discs, not reseting service indicators etc buy from a dealer as they will offer a warranty and always purchase an extended where applicable. range rovers are great cars, excellent to buy second hand as they depreciate and you can buy a few year old sport for almost half price from new.
  9. Thats very interesting, i had one of these exhaust tests 'requested' I have an r34 gtr with a kakimoto exhuast and high flow cat, i replaced the cat with the oem unit and got it tested - result was 87dB @ 5000rpm which was a surprise to me and the a@@hole testing guy who retested it 3 times with his disappointed face that he couldnt make any money off me. A stock exhuast with cat making 96dB is very loud; did he do it in a wide open area so the echo dosent affect the result?
  10. Goodluck with your ideas, keep trying and hopefully you will get the result you want. Alot of people on here/other performance car drivers in Australia are kinda over the whole 'dose/flutter' thing due to cops and such they can get a little touchy on the subject because we remember bad encounters with police/epa etc
  11. Lmao! 'the other woman?' hahaha cmon, cant cover up the fact that her bedroom smells like a bakery rather than cheap perfume. "she's baking a loaf of bread, and i think its sourdough" could also use the excuse "I was in the kitchen, and i slipped, and my d**k went right into the breadloaf. -robert shimmel
  12. Hey Tez, T3 and T4 (triiodothyronine and tetraiodothyronine) are formed in the thyroid gland from L-Tyrosine and iodine so those supplements are the best way to start. If you have a disorder with your thyroid gland which has trouble synthesising the hormone, you may get a goiter or enlarged thyroid as the brain will release a thyroid proliferating hormone to increase the size of the thyroid (similar to kidney hypertrophy or cardiac hypertrophy in compensation to say kidney donation or steroid use/valve regurgitation/stenosis) A blood test can check for the hormone levels and go from there liver function tests will look for free liver enzymes in the blood, let free from dying hepatocytes; an easy check for that is liver palpation under the right bottom ribs, systemic pruritis (itch) or a faint yellow tinge in the skin, eyes or fingernails from excess bilirubin
  13. Hey Tez, Long time no speak Our guts natural bacteria act as a competitive barrier against other bacteria and fungi (kinds like park all skylines in a carpark so no old bombs can park too lolz) Antibiotics arent very specific to bacteria so by using them to kill or hinder a pathogenic bacteria can kill or hinder the good bacteria; this leaves room for more infections. Conditions and drugs that supress the immune system can also cause this condition: oral/inhalation corticosteroids and chronic stress can cause oral thrush (candida) Sooooo no oral sex or unprotected sex under those conditions ladies, wipe ur backside from front-to-back too
  14. There was some research done on sodium saccharin, an artificial sweetener which seemed to promote prostate cancer. Best to be avoided, better safe than sorry
  15. Hi there, just wondering where can I get another key for my gtr (r34); Id like at least one more just in case. Like most other skylines, I think theres also a radio transmitted which needs to be programmed. Has anyone ever had one cut and programmed? from nissan or an independant company? Any help would be much appreciated ps: I did do a quick search but didnt see anything, if I missed a thread please pop up a link Thankyou -Johnny
  16. Im very sure its the bov. My old s15 would stall or drop idle after acceleration then coming to a complete stop; my fix was to put it into neutral and give a quick rev when slowing to a stop. Id definitely pop on a stock one and if thats the fix then pick up a stock gtr bov to put on
  17. dunno if this is relavant but once i did a service on my gtr (oil change etc) restarted my car and had an erratic idle, went hunting and found that i accidently disconnected a plug from my afm. all the best at fixing the prob mate
  18. A smile and wave from the driver of a car that someone really likes can brighten up someones day. I was pissed at this jacked up pickup truck once that cut me off, then saw a maserati gran turismo with an elderly man driving, he gave me a smile and thumbs up...that made my day
  19. i had a similar prob on my s15. was a water leak but couldnt see anything in the driveway so it would only leak when driving. result: turbo water line - the s/s manifold expanded and contracted on heat/cool and cracked the hard line. fix: swapped for braided water line do you have aftermarket manifolds? anyways, goodluck with the problem. hope it all goes smooth
  20. Hey man, jst took a look at mine and i dont have those but i do have what is a japanese e-tag sorta thing with leds; could be that.
  21. I know it might not be relevant today but i traded my 97 s2 NA r33 for my s15 back in 2005 for 12k - today? who knows but NA skylines are still in demand for p platers so u might get lucky. like the others say, go private; check current skylines for sale in similar nick and put that price. If no bites, reduce price by 500bux a week until it sells
  22. I love silvias but if i had one again, first thing id do is put some rocker stoppers in (cheap mod to prevent your rocker arms cracking off)....yes this happened to me; put my foot down once one night and pop (took the camshafts with them too)
  23. there was a great motor swap i heard about: a landcruiser straight 6 in a supra; 4500cc i think. amazing!!! didnt get to see the final results but the torque must be able to spin the earth backwards. An idea i had was a ford xr6 turbo motor in a gtr. wonder if anyone has tried?
