Is It Normal For Service To Make Your Car Feel Different?
Brandon replied to Brandon's topic in General Maintenance
Not sure but for RB26, you'd do the pulley/idler/tensioner whatever you call them when you change the water pump. Just to save the time and effort. -
This is mine from what I got the car. Should look the same and its fully adjustable. The black helps break the colour up a bit which I think makes the car looks better.

Haha no worries mate. I didnt realise you're that far up north. I used to frequent Emerald (due to being in the coal industry) but has been in the office for a while. SAU is 1 of the few forum you'll find decent tech info and help. I've been on this forum before I own a Skyline and people dont give me shit for asking question. Try searching for any problem you encounter in the forum and theres a high chance someone else before you had it before. Or even posting it and you'll find replies are generally pretty quick and help (sometimes make you think about stuff which you might have missed). All in all, enjoy your stay here.

Congrats. Assuming you got that from Imperial Auto in Brisbane. I believe Brent got this straight from Japan as I got a mate that told me he was bidding on that same car. I was speaking to Brett around that time and he told me it was sold. I got my N1 V-spec from Brent too. This seemed to be in a much better condition on the photo than mine when I got it too. http://www.imperialauto.com.au/vehicles-and-parts-4-sale/japanese-cars-4-sale/nissan-skyline/nissan-gtr-vspec-n1

If you dont like exercising your foot while driving, I will recommend sticking with coppermix. Try reading the review, nothing but good. Another good clutch I was looking at is the ATS carbon. Around the same price too. Not saying Oruga isnt good but my personal opinion for clutch is, easy on the foot, lasting and can hold the power. I doubt the Oruga is easy on the foot. The coppermix holds a max of 500 or 600HP which is plenty for me.

The one I got wasnt a comp model. The quote from Streeter is around 200 or 300 extra for comp model from memory. I got mine from a local guy that's got a new one but didnt want to install it. End up being 100bucks cheaper than Streeter without the long wait. Back then the exchange rate was around 70ish and I paid 2k for mine. Considering the rates dropped by almost 40%, 1.6k-1.7k landed sounds correct. You can get Streeter to do EMS and you'll get it within 3-5working days I think. Probably another 200bucks for EMS which is 1.9k?? Still a good deal. You will never regret getting it.

Is It Normal For Service To Make Your Car Feel Different?
Brandon replied to Brandon's topic in General Maintenance
Just an unopen N1 engine. Like I said before, I'll make sure its 10W40 for the next service. This time should be ok since its winter and I doubt it'll be much of an issue especially the N1 oil cooler is quite big. Even during summer it rarely goes over 75-80degrees on the gauge. Most times it doesnt even move over the 70 -

Right. Thanks. I'll keep an eye on it this weekend. But driving around yesterday doesn't seem like there is. It'll have smoke in the first gear for once (like cleaning the exhaust carbon) if I floor it but everything else seemed pretty normal. -

I didn't not get the chance to see the plugs and filter unfortunately. Dont get me wrong, the car has never given me any issues other than the usual failure due to age/wear. The 2 thing I suspect is the thinner oil and possibly plugs. The plugs looks clean from previous service but its been awhile since I change them. However, the gap may be too big? I think it's 1mm. Maybe iridium gives a better spark over platinum? The clutch is still easy to drive being a coppermix. They just bleed it cause they thought the free play was too much. However, it does feel firmer and slightly stiffer. All in all I'm happy that the car is running smoother. Not saying it's bad before but if the oil is the key, are there any potential issue which can be fatal to the car by sticking with the thinner oil? Or should I go back to 10w40 for my next service since it'll be summer? -
As mention in topic, my car feels slightly more responsive and smoother after, 1) oil change (same brand, Royal Purple HPS, but the workshop used 5W30 instead of the usual 10W40) Not sure if the ones I have been using is HPS or not. 2) spark plug change from platinum to iridium (Denso) 3) oil filter and fuel filter change 4) clutch bleeding (not asked for but they did it cause they suspect my clutch is worn but its not) Does any of the above affect the response and smooth-ness of the engine much? I told him 5W30 should be fine since its winter but next time I would like to have 10W40 again. Having said that he assured me a good engine can run 5W30 without issues at all unless its blowing smoke. Advise pleaseeeee. Thank you.

Kakimoto Regu 06&r For R33 Gtr & Gtst
Brandon replied to Brandon's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Sold. Sorry for the late update. -
Or if they think you dont know anything and wanna rip you off. I was pretty disappointed with the quote (from said reputable workshop) I got for the engine mount since they're the one that tuned my car originally.

As mentioned by others, the key to getting that front pipe out is the extension. Its a piss easy job when you have a hoist and proper tools. Anything more than 2hour labour is too much. To be honest it might be too hard to DIY on the ramp as it can need a fair bit of strength (like breaker bar). Dan from ERD used to be the go to for me but now that Dan's decided to shutdown the business, I've been bringing my car to Hi-Power Racing at Slacks Creek. They just fit my engine & gearbox mount for around 350 too. I got a few quotes and prior but there was one, which is a very reputable workshop, told me it is a day's job. BS... Can you normally judge how well they know the car by the labour hours. I'm sure theres odd cases where freaking bolt is crossed threaded, nut is seized blah blah blah. But these are out of control. 101 is another place which is my other option but I end up at Hi-Power due to getting along with the owner. Let me know if you need a hand with anything, always there to help a fellow Skyliner.

Nismo Coppermix Twinplate Free Play
Brandon replied to Brandon's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/418182-for-those-running-nismo-coppermix-twin/ Sorry for posting this but found the answer in another section of the forum. Seems like the free play is normal. The mechanic problem isnt used to a twinplate feeling so comfortable. -
Fellow coppermix users, I was told by my mechanic (new workshop) that my clutch might be worn. He said that due to the amount of free play before the clutch actually engaged. But I told him thats how it felt from day one and the difference is I cant ride as much when it was first installed. Background of the clutch is, the gearbox was rebuilt by a reputable mechanic in Brisbane and the coppermix was brand new. The clutch after installation felt like stock. Free play was the same but it would either bite or not bite. You cannot really ride the clutch much. I was thinking this is the bed in period. After say 2 months, its how it feels like now. The clutch is not slipping and engaging and disengaging well. I've only ever launch the thing less than 10times (during drag day) and from what I read on the coppermix, it should hold fairly well. Car is only 340awhp and I dont drive like a hoon. My question is, is the free play normal for the coppermix? Could this be just a coppermix design? Cheers.

I think he still does.

Hi power's got my business now after Dan's shut. Another one I would try is 101 motorsport. For tuning I've got Gavin Wood but I've only ever tuned the car once and never had any problem with it. Despite the number of people telling me how rich the car smell, the consumption is exactly the same as before tune with more power and response. 450-500km or 7km/L per tank easy.

Sorry I have no idea. It looks big but I wouldnt be surprised if its not fully hollow because this exhaust is pretty quiet. -

Bump. Price drop to $500! -
I was like you but I think I'd know where to bring my car now. I got Hi-Power Racing to install the Nismo mount for me. Mounts were installed and I paid only the quoted price + the're very helpful with assisting you with anything. Tell him Brandon intro you.
