I know there's lots of people who have not paid a thing but there's lots that have got stung but like I said its a hit and miss affair. Customs are cracking down as more and more people turn to the internet to do their shopping. How easy things go through depands a hell of a lot how goods are packed or repacked n the first place. E.g nice plain box. -
My misso used to this but I gave her 2 warnings and third time she did it I asked to get out and check the passenger rear tyre, I then proceeded to drive away and left her on the road going wtf ! She got a taxi home and went ape shit but NEVER EVER slammed the doors again.

Catch 22 with the import duty. 1) You can ask them to write a lower value on the import declaration (illegal and customs are not stupid, they have internet too) and say its value is under $1,000 but you always run the risk that it may go missing via shipment and best you can be insured for the lower amount they have valued it at. or 2) Run the gauntlet, insure it to full amount (very cheap via Japan post) and hope you dont get pinned for taxes. Import duty will always be a hit and miss affair, basically a 50/50 chance you will have to pay unless its de-valued but if they pick that then item is seized and they will ask you to pay duties they deem are due. Whatever you do they are brilliant clutches. -

You can with a bit of knowledge get a extension of 3 months on the WH visa but it is at the discretion of Japanese immigration and you will need a bloody good excuse. As Roach says you can pretty much do any type of work on the WH visa but they frown on work in the Entertainment industry e.g Host and Hostess , New half etc. Cops are pretty full on and do do raids on clubs known to have foreign workers. Another option is Japanese Language Student Visa but the course will cost you close to $6,000 plus again you will need to show you have at least 20-25K in your bank. And another option is get married...there's plenty of Japanese girls out there looking for gaijin husbands. I have a mate who is on no 5 wife at present. Trades in for a new and improved model every 3-4 years. Personal import laws have got a lot stricter and you will have to send a photocopy of every page of your passport and documentation to prove you have lived, owned , registered, garaged(e.g parking space) the car for the minimum 12 months. Just go have a holiday..if you like it then you can decide if you want to live there. Unless you have a really special car its so bloody cheap to just buy cars and drive them until they break and then go buy another.

Yes mate pre 93 you need push type and also clutch is totally rebuild-able All the info you want here ... http://www.nismo.co.jp/en/products/competition/clutch/clutch.html clutch02-5.pdf -
Mate you can go on a tourist visa and change to a working visa same with WH visa to working visa. Your problem is do you and can you meet the working visa criteria ! If you really want to pursue getting a visa then the skilled labour visa is the one to aim at. There's plenty of work through Japans winter for english speaking ski and snowboard instructors, rafting guides so go to an instructors course and get qualified. Other visa is the Cultural visa e.g go study Ikebana but you will need to do your research for this visa and you are technically not allowed to work so will have to show you can financially support yourself for 1 year. e.g you will need to show $25,000 in the bank at time of applying and good idea to have it in your account when entering Japan. In all honesty, get a job in Australia, save the money and buy your car Oz. Save some more and go have a holiday and spend your money on parts in Japan.

The only sound you'll here is the frustrated howls of different brand users. Nismo clutch by far the most user friendly street and track able clutch out there. Get it and you'll never regret it . -
This should be stickied : http://www.mofa.go.j...visa/index.html If you cant tick the box then sorry no visa unless you have some coin (around $50K) then you can use the money short term for investors visa. I have businesses in Japan and no visa and come and go as I please but trust me, it took a long time and effort and money to get to that stage.

-
That EMS price is for ARC Induction box. Intercoolers etc would be different. Just giving a rough guide to what should be paid.
-
Yeah there's some stupid prices being going round. Just make sure you don't pay anything over retail price excluding Japanese tax otherwise your getting ripped off !! If buying through a decent importer you should be paying less than the rrp ! Freight should be around the 6-7,000yen max by EMS.
-
Dont know if anything has been posted yet re ARC as yet but ARC have been back in minor production since late last year and early this year but now pretty much fully operational with new name "ARC BRAZING" http://www.arc-brazing.co.jp/ Make sure you get correct pricing on their parts ! You can check rrp pricing here for those who cant read ping pong : http://translate.goo...ductionbox.html You should keep in mind that the rrp price is max you should pay and decent import companies should be selling these cheaper than rrp. Do yourself a big favour and shop carefully as there's a few traders around selling these over 15,000yen over the rrp before delivery price added. And yes , they are readily available in Japan and elsewhere !
