  1. Hey Dan check this http://www.osgiken.co.jp/pro_spec/rb30kit-hks.html Its OS Giken RB30 running V-cam. You can see how much earlier boost comes on. Trade off is you lose a bit of max rpm and top end power, but the grunt comes on early. We were talking about it today and for eaxample same engine without V-cam they would set limiter at e.g 9000rpm and with V-cam at 8-8500 rpm. Also max cam is the 264 with 10mm lift!! OS has a special on these at the moment .. http://www.osgiken.co.jp/topics/rb315kit.html
  2. Streeter I got to admit after being away for 5-6 weeks I did miss the Jap candy and have been thoroughly catching up by spending time in my favourite kyabakuras!! I've been over the jap sea to korea a few times this year and before and yep there was a severe uglt breeding system going on over there. It seems like every 2nd was mauled with the ugly stick...But ...it takes awhile to suss the spots where the hot chicks go and yep they come off as stuck up snobs. But once you get past the barrier that your not an arsehole american GI and just a lovely aussie bloke they open up just like the japanese model, only with a brain and able to hold a pretty serious conversation versed on many a world political topic. Thats what is lacking on the japanese model..a brain...and ya do get so sick of hearing ..kawaiiiii,sugoiiii,kireiii...but I live here and love it ..always will..if I was living in oz ,would have been locked up along time ago and so would most guys I know here.. What can I say but ..Japanese candy ...mmmmmm

  4. I use Toast (titanium) for my Mac, founf it to be really good or for file conversions try Visual Hub all available from the above cough, cough store free of charge!!
  5. Matt have you had the engine running yet ?? Have they had any dramas tuning the V-cam controller using the Power fc ?? Or you running the F-con?? Marcus
  6. Hey Richard, Mate I was suffering pretty bad from hell hangover on the day, had just got back to jappa after 5 weeks in Korea and got dragged out the night before for a few quiet drinks which never goes to plan. After dragging my sorry arse to HKS after a night of hostess bars and kabbakuras i was just pointing the camera and pressing the shutter and wanted to get the f#$k outta there. Old mate could have been talking martian for all I know, was a sorry day. I was lucky to get the pics I got. I'll be back there early next week and will get more detailed shots as when those were taken they were still into early porting stages and everything looked a bit rough, well through my blurry eyes they did. 9Krpm mate I'm not 100% dead sure on max cam lift for V-cam, i'll run it by them next week. The idea is you can run an aggressive cam on the intake without having crazy idle and drivability. with the V-cam it idles almost like standard cam but torque comes on much earlier in the rev range. they are pretty sweet to drive. Reason I ditched the V-cam setup was like I said before we were going to run it with Hks 2835's but that whole setup plus V-cam was way over $10,000 aussie so made a compramise for now by going with the garretts. Also with that setup it was going to be an easy 700ps+ and honestly for street setup I think 600ps is plenty. Also the fact the car will get sent back to Oz, I have heard a few guys have had real problems setting the V-cam up when trying to use Apex Power Fc. I'm running F-Con V pro at the moment but dont know how hard it is to get them tuned in oz . So thought staying on the fence for now in case I had to change engine management system when the car goes to oz and couldnt run the V-cam. Honestly if I can get it tuned in oz, I'm leaning towards getting it put in before I send the car. Honestly, I think once its all finished Hey Mike mate seems like every tanaka, watanabe and suzuki san is running the V-cam setup over here. It actually is a suprise to check under a bonnet and not see one installed. I personally think its on the bigger turbo setup you really notice the difference. If I decide to throw it on later it will be interesting to see the difference between setups of before and after V-cam. What I have noticed on cars I have driven that have it is they are smooth. the drivabilaty is great, doesnt feel like you have peformance cams until the lead foot hits and then whammo, that torque hits early ! There are some drags on next weekend that I'm going to unless it rains and there are a few cars going that I know so will try get some vid and pics!
  7. Yep know how you feel. I was expecting to come back and find the motor together and ready to go in the car and be ready for drags on 12 & 13th of this month but got buckleys chance of that! Cheers bloke! Yeah they are impressive. AP racing on the front and Endless on the rear. The old fella is loaded with yen!!
  8. Too bloody right Chef!! The amount of nobstains that get over here teaching are a joke. Seriously they would be lucky if someone from the female species even looked at them back home let alone speak to them. More likely they be told to f#$k off! But here ,everyones a porn star, even the knobstains! Says alot for the jap girls intellect doesnt it! Now korean girls are different. Hard to catch but have brains and very focused on making coin!!
  9. The guy that owns this 34 is 59 years old and has a mint condition 32, 33, this 34 and new GTR35 and is a GTR fanatical nut and loves to drive his cars but looks after impeccably!!

  12. Mike I'm not 100% sure of valve size and suffering shocking hangover today but will check on the weekend Hey Andrew saw your looking at flogging your engine off, mate what are you doing!! Engine builds..shit the stress and time drrives you insane. Ha snow skids..mate power is the last thing ya want, I can drift my misso's Jimmny like a pro on the ice, with this engine the GTR will be scary, hopefully I'll be outta here by then but doubt it. Hey Rob Yeah I bailed on the V-cam mainly because the car will end up in Australia and didnt want the hassle of trying to get it tuned plus it was an extra 450,000yen plus another 400,000 plus for different turbos so chose the Garrett -5's! Car will keep the standard CV's..if they break then will replace them. Tips..hmm spend the money on something else!! I got new head so I could keep using the car until new engine was ready to go in. Got price on new head last week and they were bit over 170,000 yen at the moment , mine was cheaper than that at the time plus got discount. Pretty sure using Tomei head studs. Yep standard manifold but has had port job done on it. Exhaust is Tomei dumps, and HKS ll Hi-power sports exhaust system and HKS Hi flow cat From what I have been told the Hypertune TB gives better response
  13. On the sevs site it has the Cube model listed as Z11 http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au/sevs/507-00.htm What is the corresponding model in Japan as I cant find that model listed on any of the Jap sales sites!! Those things are like dogs ball up my way, like the bloody plague and cheap as chips. I'm looking at one for my misso when I move back to Oz early next year.
  14. Still havent got the hang of the photo thing but the post begore was supposed to have these pics.. Hopefully things start getting bolted up to this soon, its been sitting around finished for awhile now!

  16. Sunline Racing Carbon Cooling Panel Hey can anyone tell me how to attach pics here so they are large/full size ! I have no idea how to do it.
  17. Bloke the engine hasnt even been put together yet so now dyno sheets for awhile!! I havent posted any updates for awhile as have been away in Korea for awhile and just got back home to Japan about 10 days or so ago so was just getting the odd update by email. Shit this has been a long time but finally some light at the end of the tunnel. The head arrived back to HKS while I was away and sat there for a week or 3 by the sounds of it (had summer hols here) but finally he porting and polishing process has finally begun. The pics below are from last week so still in the early stages but got a call yesterday that should be all done this week and head and block can finally say g'day to each other !! Old engine and gearbox has been ripped out but they chucked the old engine back in for the time being. They were worried about leaving it on the shop floor due to recent earthquakes and were paranoid it would fall over !1 Numbnuts!! Anyway its just sitting on the engine mounts at the moment. Gearbox is off to Auto Gallery Yokohama for their SS690 cross mission upgrade using their synchro setup and OS Giken gearset and strneghtend input shaft. I picked up an almost brand new box which I'll use for the run in and until the other box is sorted. While I was away some brand new Garrett -5's from Hi Octane in Oz.. big thanks to Kyle for his help getting these and other parts for me. Also list of new parts sitting there waiting to go in are Koyo Aluminium Radiator HKS Cams 264 In/264 out HKS slide cam gears HKS Oil Cooler Samco Silicon Hoses HKS Racing chamber kit HKS Intercoller piping kit HKS Step 2 Valve springs Naprec cam cap set Naprec forged valves Jun Chitan valve retainers HKS Fuel Delivery kit Sard fuel pressure regulator Sard 800cc injectors Sunline Racing Carbon radiator cooling panel Thats all i can rember off the top of my head as been flat out f#$ked since I got back and had beers thrown left right and centre so alls been a bit foggy. Before I left I picked up some Advan Racing TC2's 18x10.5x +22offset. Definitely fill the guards out. We chucked. well streched the preverbial outta my 18x265/35 tires and did a trial fit. Looks good but definitely need the larger tyre. I have Enkei RPO5 rims (chrome) on at the moment. Anyway heres a few pics I took, sorry not that flash as was suffering from shocking hangover but should have some pics next week as engine starts being put together. cams and cam gears
  18. Basically you need a degree to teach english and get work visa. Yep there are some dodgey ways around it but its getter harder and harder. As of April 2010 immigration will have a country wide database instead of local city immigration office so its gunna get real tough to try pull the wool over their eyes. Seriously they are cracking down majorly and wanna know everything about foreigners!! You wanna think seriously about taking the english teacher path as if you end up here for awhile and then return home it doesnt look real hot on the resume unless you want to go work ina language school. As for the 11ty million that want to learn english, well shit load of em are broke, and most only do it for a short time. It used to be good. The pay for english teacher nowdays is crap. 250,000yen a month if your lucky and you wont be saving much if your living in the big cities. If your after good list of altrnative work e.g IT etc then suss www.gaijinpot.com Also if you have half a brain theres plenty of opportunity to strat your own business here and make some decent coin just have to put the hard yards in. Fark this guy has made millions... http://www.japaninc.com/mgz_winter_2006_brian_tannura If ya wanna just come for holiday and make what your going to spend thenteaching is the go. If you want to come for a carreer change and make some money then do some research and start studying your ping pong because most companies will want you to be bilinguall. excuse my spelling as still coming off a nasty bender
  19. Do a bit of a google search on accomodation companies as this year everyone is slashing accomo prices and theres some good early bird deals on. You can get accomo for $50 p/p for share accomo. I'm hooked up in the business up there so if you want some info give us a pm. Getting there by bus from Chitose is a piece of piss, get the Niseko bus or most accomo companies have a pickup service. Dont be fooled into going there in december..all the companies bullshit how theres great riding in december..in 9years+ of living and ridint there only once can I remember a good december. if your used to riding OZ, well it will look like Mecca. Honestly best snow is from mid Jan thru to end of Feb/early march..there can be awesome riding all thru march and april when crowds are gone and plenty of snow and weather great!! Like I said have a good suss around the accomo companies in Niseko for deals as prices have been slashed from last year due to economic situation.
  20. I dunno what you guys see in this car its really a pig on wheels!

  25. Just wondering if anyone can give me a rough idea of price in Oz for a HKS GT 3037 pro-s Turbo (big swing valve type) and assembly. Turbo has done 22,000 km's and is in top condition, been inspected by HKS here in japan. I am buying a bunch of parts to bring back to Oz at the end of the year and this came up with some other parts and is at a good price but have no idea of what they are worth in oz. Any info thanx in advance
