Private Import
elrodeo666 replied to elrodeo666's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Cheers for that.. I've been here on and off for going on 9 plus years last 3 with proper visas and last 20months only been outta the country for the 20 odd days. Cars been shakened in my name the whole time I've had it, same as car park and have had Jap licence for 2-3 years so hopefully all will be gold. -
Had a search and cant really find a definitive answer so thought I'd throw this out to the experts..well hopefully experts. Ok had my current car here (GTR33) in Japan for just under 2 years. Its currently under going some fairly extensive engine mods etc.. linky... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Hk...il-t246240.html Anyway what I'm trying to find out is with the private import ruling, how long can you spend out of the country your living in..e.g I heard 6 weeks thrown about but is in a 1 year period or over the time you have lived in the foreign flamin mongrelry. Say for instance does the 6 week or whatever get reset each year e.g say from aug 2008 until aug 2009 I spent 40 days out of Japan will this get reset from beginning of september 2009. Basically from the above period I've been out 22 days so far (5 this year) but have couple of business trips lined up to korea which will take me close to the 6 week mark. What i'm trying to find out is will this get reset like I said at beginning sept or would the 6 week period be for this year. If I go over this period I'd have to change evrything back to stock and do a normal import, what would be a ball park figure. I have all the original parts. By the way I'm looking at sending the car late november Any help be great

I'll tell you in a couple of months when its all done but I would hate to do the conversion to the aussie peso, its lucky I earn yen. I wont be back at HKS until next week, off to Tokyo for 5 days for a japanese wedding, boozing and partying. I have talked to them a bit and some crew are doing the 30/26, blocks are through OS Giken but will have a suss and see what they say. Seems either 2.6 or go 2.8 from what I've seen here. Japanese are pretty locked in their ways and dont change too easlily. -

Still not much to report.. Head is still at the machine shop and doesnt look like coming back to HKS until 2nd week after Golden Week (a week where Japan basically shuts down for holidays) Once its back then at least things will start kicking into gear . Ordered up a carbon bonnet from East Bear and is getting clear coat done at the moment, I doubt that will get here before golden week. I ordered up this from Rob at RIPS and is all finished and on the way. Starting to have a bit of a collection of parts and be nice to see them in the car soon. Hopefully in a couple of weeks work on the car will get into gear and can get a few pics up. -
also 3 Maybe he's after a bit of san p (3 some)

You would need someone to buy it for you here and Japan and then send to oz.. Dunno what they cost in oz but thats about 40,000yen cheaper than buying direct from Nissan or Nismo. Think the 640ps twin retails for about 175,00yen retail, maybe a bit less.

The explanation for the crash by jap authorities was severe wind shear..plane bounced and flipped, then boooom!! The jap translation for wind shear is ....I wouldnt have a f**king clue!!

Anyone got any pics of one mounted. I bought one last year and its going in soon and like to get some ideas where to stick the thing..

Mate I was out practising for it last night so if my post was a bit obtursive, sorry for that. Its that big an event that usually I get out of the country after the first 10 days as its a gaurantee for liver failure. Honestly it goes off!! Its basically a party for almost a month rain or shine and I reccomend it to anyone travelling to Japan as a great way too meet the japanese, alochol bonding! my 2 cents worth.

Dont need the babel for ping pong tranny bloke..been here almost 10 years and pretty fluent in me reading writing...shithouse at english.. Hokkas has more than its nature..Yep snow cannot be beaten.. Had a mate recently do a tour ..landed in Narita.(watch out for fedex planes) and did a 3 week train tour to hokkaido stopping at various spots along the way, reckon it was great way to see the flamin mongrelry. Been here 6 times and had the best trip doing this on his pat malone Tokes is a shit hole..kyoto is special..okinawa is not too bad , just have to avoid the seppos..love osaka..best humoured japanese there are I reckon..Especially the Irezumi boys, seem to get on well with them as in same line of work If you dont know the sapporo beer festival you've been living under a rock for 5 years..its a major must for most japanese
-
hokkaido is boring (unless its winter)... Akeenan have you been up here... Mate Susukino..small area with 5000 clubs, bars, kabba kuras, soaps...its famous to the japanese for the amount of sex bars...I have a ball there..Come to japan and eat sushi off the back of a naked girl then negotiate 2000yen blowies, what more can a virgin aussie want!! Sapporo beer festival..26 day Beer garden festival from 10am - 10pm strtches thru odori koen (park) about 8-10 blocks of drunken daily madness and so much loose fresh candy. Also did I mention Sapporo has the BEST candy there is in Japan...what more do you want from ya hols!!

Still not alot to update on... Spent the day out at HKS on saturday trying to finalise what head work will be done, what cams etc..Got to thank Paul (Dirt Garage) and Russ and Gav for their input and advice..cheers fellas.. Pretty much looking at this setup as far as head wise..doing a como of high response stage 2 kit and drag kit..bigger valves etc... Whats on the list is as follows Naprec High Response kit plus combustion chamber mods and machining. Drag Kit for RB26 : JP¥315,000 Replacing NAPREC Forged Big Valve / Combinations Valve Guide / Heatproof Sintering Sheet Ring / Cam Cap Stud Bolt / Exchanging Valve Guide / Replacing Sheet Ring / Sheet Cutting for Race (Matching the thrusting point) / Hall Processing to Pull Out Air of Water Jacket / Processing Oversized Jacket Plug / Head-face cut to 1.0mm Also water jacket will be modified plus using Jun Titanium valve retainer plus HKS modified Valve lifter. . HKS step 2 valve springs. HKS will do the port and polish. Cams I'm looking at either HKS/step2-10mm lift 264 degree in & ex or tomei poncams 260 degree in & ex with 10mm lift. Still havent decided which to use as yet but have to make decision by end of the week so machinig can be done.. Turbo's..mmm still undecided but still have some time to decide as head will be awau for a another month... I did get to go for a drive in their race prepped WRX...bloody fun car to drive as power to weight ratio is pretty damn quick and its running around just under 400 HP but its the suspension setup thats killer, real smooth on the bumps but handles amazingly but hey the can throw the best of what they sell in.. Shocks are a modified Hypermax Sports setup and are amazingly smooth. On the way out I pulled up next to this Sierra Cosworth..rare as hens teeth over here.. -
Got a feeling Deeluxe is Euro. Gentem Sticks are 100% japanese ...awesome back country free ride boards... http://www.gentemstick.com/
-
Yonex Kissmark Deeluxe ?? (not 100% sure on this) Theres a few others who do snow clothing as well but the japanese are real brand orientated and follow what the pro's are riding so brands like Burton are huge!
