If you want the steeps then Haka's is th go!! If you want guaranteed snow then Niseko is the go. I came to live in Japan for the snow and know it better than I know me own arsehole, thats why I've been stuck in the frozen hellhole hokkaido. Hakuba has awesome terrain, the backcountry is fantastic but be warned avalanches are a plenty out there, people die so make sure you know your shit!! As for just punting around the mountain its a great ski area but dont go ducking ropes like u would in Niseko as ski patrol will take your pass if you go in off limit areas. Since yo have been Niseko before you know the place can dump and dump and dump. It has its own little weather microcosm going there and will always have the best snow in the country. Early jan can be hit and miss with the snow in Hakuba and for bang for buck and guaranteed snow then niseko is the go. Honestly the last few seasons have been shit here in Niseko, this last winter I have never seen it rain so much in 10 winters but summer looks like its back to normal, been lots of rain and coolish temps so looking good for return to normal winter patterns and big snow!! If you have the luxury of holding off on booking your trip until the last minute and thus being able to see how the winter is panning out in Hakuba and if good I'd go there for somewhere new to ride. If your after accomo try Snowbeds ( snowbedsjapan.com ) goog guys to stay with and reasonable prices. Why dont you try escape the hordes of touro's hitting Niseko and do a bit of a Hokkaido road trip. Almost all mountains can be accessed by train or bus and theres a hell of alot of better and less crowded places to ride. Shoot me a pm if you want some info. heres a taste of NOT Niseko.. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tKMdVDOM8 that link doesnt seem to work so do a google on icon 6 : (the colon) trailer

Hks Japan 2.8 Engine Build
elrodeo666 replied to elrodeo666's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Cheers Richard.. I chucked up the link for reference. The carbon puppies I have are straight off the shelf from HKS, nobody wanted them so they gave them to me. I've driven a couple of cars with the AGYSS690 but was worried about the input shaft as they dont use strengthened shaft and know of 2 cars that have launched and snapped. I reckon the combo with the OS gearset should be awesome, best of both worlds as those AGYSS690 sets are super slick to shift. Got a phone call just before that they have fitted new Advan TC 2's 18 x 10.5 x 114 with 25 offset and they reckon it looks tuff. Absolute limit for fitment but can throw the bloody spacers away. Damn light rims! -
Not mine but this is one of HKS drag cars waiting for remap and tuning for upcoming drags next weekend up my neck of the woods!

Helps if you can put an address in in japanese, alot more accurate but I use it all the time here for finding places.

Hks Japan 2.8 Engine Build
elrodeo666 replied to elrodeo666's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Jeez didnt realise its been this long since posting but really not alot has been happening bar sitting around waiting for head maching to be finished and parts to arrive. Well car is finally in the workshop and having some suspension mods being finished up. Whiteline adjustable sway bars, front and rear camber adjuster kits fitted, pineapples and these little buggers http://www.attkd.co.jp/product_link-collar.htm which will all help to a better handling GTR..well I hope. Picked up a few cosmetic parts, Sunline Carbon Fibre cooling panel HKS Kansai Carbon plug cover ) HKS Kansai Carbon Cam cover ) http://secure.n1racing.net/eshop/prod_imag...fd343354230.jpg Valve Covers are being chromed Tomei Dump pipes HKS Hi Power cannon Got some series 3 headlights coming plus heap of other parts going in when engine is fitted. Head is supposed to be delivered back for porting this friday so the real meat of the sandwich starts. Block is all finished and just waiting to be bolted with the head. Gearbox will come out this saturday and is having a OS 5spd with uprated input shaft and box will be built by Auto Gallery Yokohama using their SS690 double con kit. Supposedly these setups are the dicks cheese for boxes here in Japan getting the best of both worlds with the (supposedly) strong OS gear set and the slick smooth shift of the SS690. See how it all pans out. I'm off to Korea for a month next sat but hopefully will post up a few pics before I go but there should be a bunch on return. Finally can see light at the end of the tunnel. These pics were at HKS today. Conference around cutomers 32 and one of their drg 33's. Yep thats a line locker next to the Sard reg. -
Osg 5 Speed Issue
elrodeo666 replied to Mr. Keets's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Been having discussions with guys at HKS here in Japan and other tuning shops and we have come up with a slight different build plan for my box. Original reccomendation was dont use the OS gearset and go the yokohama Auto Gallery 690 set but after many discussions with crew that are using this box the prognosis is the best box you can do for street is a combo of the 2 brands. Run the OS gear set with strengthened input shaft and have Auto Gallery Yokohama build the box with their double con synchro system. what you get is a strong box plus super smooth shifts and a box with no vibration. This setup is supposed to be a killer box for the street. Everyone here in japan says the same on the OS box ..around the 80kph mark a natural harmonic vibration occurs. I heard it reffered to from anything here as shudd shudda to a cat meow sound!! Japanese sound affects are hysterical. My box will be pulled out next sat and rebuild will start. I'll keep you updated on the cost etc as may look at getting some made to send to oz if anyones interested. -
Well all i can do is warn you of costs.. Was in korea twice last month and 12 days in total, hardly used my phone but didndt turn off data roaming on first trip and got bill today for 45,000 yen.. I've been stung before..over 200,000 yen for a month.. Make sure you turn data roaming off on the iphone!!

Another with Dans kit..looks great and definitely bright enough. Makes my Defi's look dull and boring! -
Ok I have a bunch of Whiteline suspension parts being installed here in Japan by HKS. All has been sweet but boys are scratching their heads over the Castor adj bush for GTR33. http://www.whiteline.com.au/product_detail...t_number=KCA332 They have pressed the bush into the castor rod but reckon if they press the crush tube in then it cant turn to be adjusted and needs special bolt. They cant work out how they can adjust the bush for wheel alignment !! Can anyone enlighten me on how these are fitted asap..I have to find out over the weekend if possible. cheers

Tell me about it... Getting stuff here in japan is by no means just walking in the door and asking the monkey at the counter!! Always have to order and the wait can be months!! I've learned not to bang my head against brick walls anymore..it hurts too much Sometimes you get suprised but!

Theres Nismo shop 10mins from me if you need something I dont mind sussing but would have to send from Japan.

Gtr Twin Plate Clutches
elrodeo666 replied to SIR-032's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I fried a ATS Carbon in under 1000k's but reckon that had more to do with temps than anything. Supposedly the carbon needs to get up to a good operating temp to get good grab and mine got put in at start of winter 2007 and died by the end. We have -5c to -20c so reckon that had alot to do with it. I have one for sale that needs rebuild. done 1000 k's.. Been running Nismo Copper Twin since and fantastic clutch..Never misses a beat!! -

elrodeo666 replied to Mr. Keets's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Had a drive on the weekend of 2 GTR34's one with OS box and other with the Auto Gallery Yokohama SS690 and gotta say the later was smooth as silk to drive. Super smooth changes, real quick and real slick engagement compared to the OS box. Definitely made my mind up to go the AGYSS690 !! They are supposedly strong as the OS box and more popular here... -
What to they say..patience is a virtue..well more like a pain in the arse... I got my kit thru HKS here in Jappa no probs, N1 block was easy as to get as Nismo shop is 10mins down the road but my head ..oh ..my head has taken so long. All maching is being done by Naprec here and its been like getting a tooth pulled but got the word today it will be delivered back to HKS by 10th July and then finally it should be all go. I've got turbos on order so just gotta keep patient. Gunna be real interesting to see how the V Cam all turns out. I reckon you will be pretty happy with the response. What gearbox are you putting behind it??
