  1. Been awhile since I posted anything but the block finally came back from the machine shop around feb 20th and since the boys have been busy putting all the go fast 2.8 kit together, all balanced and prepped and wacked together. They reckon the block was one of the cleanest ones they have got straight from nissan as far as the casting went. They seemed pretty impressed. Anyway heres a few pics from yesterday and first unveiling. I have new head coming from Nissan which will get sent to NAPREC for maching then back to HKS for the port polish etc, so looking at another month before the head will go on then so bit more thumb twiddling and chasing parts before handing over the car. Still havent come up with final decision on turbo setup but have ruled out the 2830's and V Cam as thats another ¥800,000 plus ($12,000 plus aussie) and that coin will be better spent on new OS giken box and some suspension mods (Nismo Link set) Any input on turbos be much appreciated. I'm looking at HKS 2530's , HKS GT RSS, and possibly modified Garrett 2860-10's. Anyway hopefully over the next few weeks I'll get a few more pics up as more bits and turn up and get bolted on. The first look.. Nice and new.. Wrapping it back up and waiting for the head. More parts
  2. Is running red lights unaccepted ???? They do it all the bloody time!!
  3. Never excepted but still most wouldnt even have thought twice that they were doing something wrong let alone trying to stop someone from driving. Death penalty for DUI..never heard of it.. Big jail time yeah but thats only recent.
  4. Big Willie.. It might not be acceptable but its been going on for years!!! DUI was hardly ever policed, then they brought in fines, then upped the fines, then had a spate of DUI accidents and death and then cracked down with the current laws. Before it was free for all. It was after they cracked down on DUI that those companies that drive you home popped up. Before that ya used a taxi. Taxis were and are my only way I get home after being on the turps as usually too blind to walk and carnt be fargged.
  5. Ronin I agree with ya totally. But ya would be suprised how many 40plus year old family man japanese get about in pretty grunty gtr's. Guys I race with are all late 30's early 40's and hit the track as much as possible but usually have a 2nd car as a daily and only bring the weapon out on weekends. Fark I've had mine not quite 2 years and only done 4000k's tops. But its amazing how many low k cars keep popping up from under the magic tree. Have a squizz thru the goo site for my area and you'll see what I mean, theres always new fodder being added. http://www.goo-net.com/cgi-bin/goojp/used_eng/summary_w.cgi
  6. Sorry Ronin got to disagree with you there. The japanese have got better things to waste their money on than petrol...e.g stupid faggy clothes. Seriously they hardly use their cars, maybe to go shopping, pick up the kids and go to work but as for getting out and going for long drives its too much bloody hassle. Public transport is too good here. Honestly for example you wanna go somewhere say thats 150 k's away. Well Mon-sat your too busy working so no chance, sunday comes and your off bright and early with the other millions of maniacs with the same idea.If you take the fast way using toll roads (and hefty toll at that) you might make your destination in 3hrs if your lucky and traffics cruisy, take the minor roads (toll free) and your average aussie road rager (me) is absolutely losing it after 4hrs in the car. Now ya got the return trip and thats just as good. Ya other option would be grab the train , get there in 90mins have a great stress free day get on the train and head home, even have a sleep. Yep they use their cars but theres no way they do the same k's as oz. Since I've been here I reckon the distance I drive now compare to oz has cut by min of 50-60% at least and I'm on the road most days and drive to the surf and the snow as much as possible. The thing is you dont drive far as it takes too bloody long and too much hassle. My Gtr is lucky to get on the road once a week, drive my misso's car as its small and hell of alot less hassle around town especically parking as gtr is too low to get into half the bloody parks. I bought a Gt legacy off an old farmer who only drove it 5 k's to the nearest town a couple of times a week. It had 29,000 k's when I got it for $1000 ausie and it was mint condition with all the extras. Drove the thing into the ground. Your right though..there seems to be these majic cars that keep popping up with amazing low k's. Have a look inside and you can tell they have been through a bit more wear and tear than that. Definitely cant judge a book by its cover so suppose thats where you have to trust your importer.
  7. Chef is dead right ..When it comes to shakken time the japs just trade up rather than repair. I've seen some jap mates do some stupid trades, they have no sense when it comes to money. Mate just recently trade his legacy B4 75,000k's in mint condition on a toyota probox work wagon 60,000k's at the time worth about $10,000 aussie and got the equivelent of $900 for his trade and thought he got a good deal.. Bitch slap, bitch slap , bitch slap!!! Its their mentality. Its too hard to deal with selling a 2nd hand car or forking out the coin for repairs for 2 yearly shakken so lose and trade up. The minute their bum is in a nice new car they totally forget about their old vehicle. The rego fees dont really go up that much on a cars age once its 5 years old (except classics) but its the garage that does the rego who chucks on all the little extras is where you get stung. My GTR is about ¥100,000 for 2 years, pretty much what most vehicles I've had here have been, my misso's Jimmny is ¥60,000 for the same ..throw in annual road tax (about ¥45,000 yearly on a GTR ) plus insurance ¥80,000 odd yearly plus car park ¥85,000 a year approx, you can see why they balk at doing repairs. As for the clock winding, well same as Oz..ya got ya dodgy buggers and ya honest fellas. Like has the car had any repairs..Oh no no no..no repairs..yeah right then whats that over spray...check ya.. When I was looking for my GTR I checked heaps of places and cars and suppose used car salesman are the same world wide..theres alot of bad apples to sort through. In the end I found a guy who was straight up, didnt bullshit and was willing to let me do a thorough check of his cars, take em for a good spirited run, he even threw cars on the hoist and we would go right over them . In the end he sourced what I was looking for and when I decided it was the right car , I handed the coin over happily. Since then we have become good friends, go racing together, and have have bought heaps of after market parts for myself and crew through him. Didnt mean to ramble but my point is theres good and bad and like Iron Chef said if your importing you have to find someone you can trust and has good reputation. I reckon if I was in oz and after an import and only having a photo and a auction sheet to go off, finding someone who I could trust would be paramount. Different story living here for 9 plus years and being able to speak ping pong defintiely has helped me get a car I'm totally happy with bar the fact it eats money like nothing else but thats just a fact of life when owning a gtr and being addicted to power and speed.
  8. The 100,000 km's rule is a crock of shit, NO SUCH THING here in japan. Its just the number where 100,000 service comes up and most japanese think these are excessive k's and the value of the car for resale drops , plus dont want to pay for the 100,000 service. Thus the japanese and their consumer mentality trade in for mass loss and upgrade, upgrade, upgrade. As for winding back , yep it gets done here for sure, theres a hell of alot of low km cars that keep popping up and control in the 2nd hand car market sems to be like everything else here..pretty slack. Why do you reckon theres so many russians, pakistanis, indians etc in the export game. unless you get full paper history with your car you got to be a bit dubious on the k's. Also as for the Japanese pussy footing around in their vehicles and hardly flogging them, come over here for a bit, they are speed crazy and shit house drivers.
  9. Sorry Bloke..beat ya too it.. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/On...53#entry4429153
  10. Yes but does it fit...is it balanced.. I'm too paranoid to take mine out of the box...tailshaft balance shops are as rare as hens teeth over here. Anyone i ask here just give me a stupid look and ask ,why did you buy an unbalanced shaft?? Andrew ..not your problem mate...reckon its pretty dodgy customer relations from ACPT, the been great on the emails but bloody slow as for delivery. At least its not as slow as an engine build, my engine still hasnt come back from maching but any day now..
  11. Look like Yokohama AVS T5's to me.
  12. Dont know if this has been posted before but found this recently.. http://www.fujicorporation.com/eng/sim/
  13. What about the dodgy Pakis and Indians...funny they and the Ruskies all seem to work together..Bucketloads of em up my way but good for cricket games in summer and the ruskies love to booze on! Your right about quality. I have a Nepali mate mate that scouts cars for them gets finders fee and as long as it falls into certain price bracket orders are buy it and dont worry too much about the condition. Some of the cars are high km's and on last legs and get sent to Russia and money has already been handed over. No-ones gunna ague at the other end as most are being pre-sold by russian mafia.
  14. Well was back at HKS today and block has gone off to the machine shop to get the full treatment and wont be back to early feb. Still waiting on some parts to rock up from HKS headquaters but things starting to roll along which is good. Their workshop is pretty massive, got the full tour today, there's big undergound garage plus upstairs garage plus they have temperature controlled room where they do all there machineing work, theres the dyno room , plus 3 service pits plus 2 level parts customer service shop.. Anyway not much to report on but hopefully over next 3 weeks block and other parts will be back from the machine shop and engine starts getting put together. They are doing a step by step photo disc so will have other pics later. heres a few from today..they aint the best as it was -7c today and definitely wasnt wearing the right clothes to be standing around the garage freezing my gonads off.. This was one of the customers cars...700Hp beast..Its got its winter wheels/tyres on, summer it runs big side skirts. The V Cam setup is HKS Limited Edition..only 30 made and this is no 20. this was one of their race cars Rods and Crankshaft...
  15. Anyone know what it would cost approx to balance the shaft in Oz...just want a ballpark figure
  16. From order to delivery here in Japan was just over 2 weeks.
  17. The sump is supposed to hold about 8.5 litres and has fitting for return line from head to sump. I have remote oil filter setup and line so oil change will be bloody exxy!! The plenumn is as Dirt Garage said. its from Hypertune and for RB26. Guys from HKS wanted me to use this.. http://www.endless-r.co.jp/pe-ji/orijinaru/gtr_saji1.jpg but I decided against single throttle setup and wanted to fly the aussie flag a bit and show em what boys down under can do , so went the 90mm Hypertune and keep the 6 throttle setup and hopefully more response. Question I do have for Dirt Garage or anyone else is... if it was your engine, what oil pump would use?? HKS boys want me to use theirs, told me to steer clear of the Jun pumps but I was thinking of going the Tomei pump...any reccomendations or opinions??
  18. Havent posted anything here lately as been waiting on parts to arrive and its been Japans holiday season so everyone has been on holidays. Hopefully things start rocking up end of this week or early next week and work can start cracking. Couple of parts rocked up before xmas from Hi Octane..a few pics hopefully some more info and pics next week..
  19. I emailed them yesterday and got this info from them..... I have attached our assembly drawing so that you can see the length of your R33 driveshaft. With both adapters on, the driveshaft should measure out to be 44.72" from end to end. Also, 9.5cm is equaled to 3.75" which is exactly where the tube should be. I understand your concern and If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me anytime. James Martin ACPT Inc.
  20. phew...cracks open another beer!!
  21. Took mine out to HKS to get an independant professional measurement and mine was 9.5 cms and thats a 2000/lbs shaft. There were couple of spots just over 9.5 and other spots just under. We took 10 measurements equal distance apart up and down the shaft. So where to go from here???
  22. Thats the one!! My misso was flicking channels and I saw it and went..I know that club..absolute bullshit farce but hey thats japan.. He's back in operation again which is good ...but down side is all the negative publicity he took from it plus the fact it was nation wide tv..
  23. A mate of mine just got plastered all over national tv last week. He owns a night club here in sapporo and and has had it for years, yep they have had the odd night of trouble as its popular gaijin haunt but just the odd drunk throwing a punch or 2 and after being kicked out.. They showed massive raid/operation on tv cop programme. There is stupid law that technically you cant dance in a venue after midnight. He was DJ'ing and there were a few crew bopping along when bang, the keystone cops raided the joint. Its a loophole law they use to shut places down, especially yakuza bars.. You have to have a permit for dancing but you cant actually get one..Typical japan... He did about 2 weeks jail and copped a 2,000,000 yen fine ( 30,000 plus aussie).. Yep Laurence..totally agree with you..they have way too much power and can be real pricks. If arrested never ever admit to anything or sign anything..if you do your f#@ked! I know another guy who got into a scuffle, was arrested, was held in jail and daily interrogated and bashed and then they gave him paper to sign saying it was his release papers. he signed it not being able to read japanese and it turned out to be a trumped up confession which landed him in jail for 6 months and then deported. Definitely down i the big cities, tokyo , osaka etc the cops have real attitude to foreigners..there still pretty laid back and friendly up here in hokkaido but can be pricks when they want to be.
  24. Few pics and quick vid snip from latest Option magazine of 300kph plus speed run day in Hokkaido late in November 2008.. Cars came from HKS Kansai 326.2km/h Garage Yahata 324.6 km/h HKS & HKS Technical 312.1 km/h Garage Saurus 311.5 km/h Sunline Racing 311.5 km/h http://www.v-opt.co.jp/streaming2/178_high.wvx
