that is a good point actually.... my manifold is a split pulse but its single gate. My brothers is a split pulse twin gate setup so there is probably a little bit more response to be had out of the twin gate BW setup. I'll try to take them both for a spin back to back on the weekend.

Can only work with what we've got.......
-
thats my low boost setting
-
my gate pressure is around 20psi and it made 380-390kw on e85

As promised 6262 vs 8374 Both stock rb26 on e85 with relatively small cams (i think my brother has 260s and i've got 256s) 6262 made that power on 32 psi by memory. 8374 is on 30psi. 6262 can probably go to 480kw where as my EFR can probably stretch to 550kw if pushed so there is more top end with the Borg Warner The difference in torque is immense! (not sure if those are just weird dyno numbers though). Both cars are making 90-100kw around 3900rpm. At 4700RPM the 6262 is around 275kw whereas the BW is making just over 300kw. After that its a walk over and the BW just takes it. At 5500 Rpm the 6262 is at 370kw where as the BW is around 440kw The 6262 is on a r34 whereas mine is a r33 so the 6 speed gearing may also be having an impact (it should be helping with response on the 6262 right???) Very very interesting.

will give it a go on the weekend.... what i've found from with this turbo is that it goes from 10 to 30 very quicky so trying to find exactly when 15 comes will be tricky
-
I might do the speed sensor in the next couple of weeks
-
yes

everyone chip in for it and i will haha its staying put as it is... until something eventually blows

no i dont

here you go guys. BW 8374 1,04 Built head with studs, gasket, springs blah blah Stock bottom end HKS 256 drop in cams CRG split pulse manifold e85 504kw at 30psi. I told tuner to cap it at 30psi due to stock bottom end. Should see another 30-50kw with 4-5 more psi. 30psi around 4600rpm. Its a little laggier than my mechanics (he gets 33psi by around 4400rpm), which I think could be due to having a massive 60mm old tech gate or perhaps due to it not being a built motor. Still a bucket load off fun. Starts to wind up around 3k and really picks up boost 4k Dyno run below and dyno sheet attached.

The Borg Warner thread got shut down so I'll post here for those interested. BW EFR 8374 Stock bottom end rb26 256 cams E85 504kw - 30psi around 4600rpm. Has another 30-40kw in it. I told him to stop at 30psi due to standard bottom end.

ok, how about this. My car - stock 26 with a twin scroll EFR 8374 vs my brother's car stock 26 with a twin scroll ball bearing 6262. Aside from turbo, both setups are very similar. Both are on e85. My brother is making 460kw and I have his dyno sheet handy. Once mine is done (hopefully this week) I will put up both dyno print outs and we can compare till the cows come home. Only doing dynos, cant be ass'd doing actual logging. But i will drive my brother's GTR and my GTR back to back and provide a butt on seat review. -

interesting. fairly big difference in power on different dynos. ive seen them make 550kw on a dyno. I'm not sure they would max out on 25psi though. I know of a setup running 32-34 and it made more n more power with every psi up to around 34 psi. -

so boost held at 23-25 psi at the moment due to wanting to run the engine in more? I just dropped mine off to the tuner this morning. Told him to whack 30psi in to the stock motor haha -

The car is now running But the tuner is too busy to book it in.... Need to wait around 2 - 3 weeks to book in time for catch can and tune. and its 256 cams (unfortunately) The Built 2.6L with 8374 tuned by JEM making 550kw is my mechanics car, who previously had -7s. He says its even more responsive than the -7s and makes an another ~175kw. -
Cams and top end - HKS 256 vs 272
usmair replied to usmair's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
yeah really regretting it, it was literally the only used part too if its limiting top end badly i will change it but wanted to see if anyone had any experience with the topc -
Hi guys I've got a stock bottom end 26 and I originally bought what I thought was used 264 cams. When we went to put them in they turned out to be 256 cams. Due to time and money constraints I had to put them in. That's the risk we take with used parts. I really shouldn't have in hindsight. I'll have a Borg Warner 8374 1.05 getting tuned soon and my goal is 500kw. My mechanic is scaring me saying the 256 cams will dramatically limit top end and I'll be lucky to crack 450's I wanted to get your thoughts on how much 256 will limit top end compared to say 272 HKS drop in cams. I'm spending over 20k on this setup and I will be extremely disappointed if I don't come close to 500 kw. Thoughts? Umair
