  1. RBR have very good mechanical grip , or so they say. I did say chassis, which is suspension and aero etc. Anyway, difference of opinion I guess. The Renaults would look positively slow if it wasnt for the McLarens getting around. I suppose this weekend may tell us a thing or two about their chassis I didnt realise until the weekend that Vettel has actually overtaken Rosberg in the WDC. I suppose if we get lucky Homo will get a run of DNF aand car problems like Rosberg has endured of late
  2. So RBR sector times at Spa anf Suzuka and their pace in Hungary and Singapore...they are showing some serious pace when you consider what max speed, speed trapand sector time thre FIA publish after rounds. Hopefully Nismo dadge Renault engines and Mecachrome crank out this ew engine which talk has the single cylinder test platform is a Big improvement over current ICE
  3. And fair enough. I dont blame Fezz or Merc...i blame the rules. Shame you dont have independent engines by Cosworth, Renault, Honda in an environment where they can actually develop to get competitive with the right budget
  4. RBR dug the hole ... no doubt. But i say BS to chassis argument. Look at how RBR had an average chassis at the start of the year. They were allowed to develop which they have done and easily one of the best 3 going at the moment. Argument could be made that they are the best. Now engines...all but 3 teams are locked into what they are given/bought. You could argue Williams get the same gear but this year they have been behind in spec and it is absolutely an engine formula. They tried to fix that issue years ago by freezing engines as a variable to within a few percent. Now thats its a variable let others catch up just as they can from an aero or susp or brake perspective. Freezing it when it is a huge variable is silly as Renault and Honda teams are forced to sit out a season. Good on Merc for getting it right...theybdeserve their championships....but imagine if other teams were banned from developing a blown diffuser...or an F-Duct etc....
  5. I dont get how F1 and FIA have no requirement for engines to be available to to any team for nominal $$$ Williams seems to be dancing around thatvMerc haveca newcengine spec not available to them. Sauber are not using current spec Fezz engines and obviously RBR have no engine. In the "glory" days the free availability of a Cosworth DFV meant you could build a chassis and win races...now you need the engine which Merc and Fezz are keeping to themselves.. And its BS. Sauber, Lotus, FI still in trouble and not only going to getvworse ifvthe next gen of young drivers dont have equally deep pockets as current crop
  6. I am rather vanilla on Bottas...so didnt mind Kimi making a lunge. Allisons comments anout the pit wall bein in his ear to have a go was god for the sport. The move showed a bit of hackness in that Bottas didnt realise a dive bomb was coming. Hasd it been better telegraphed and squeezed to the Apex...could shoulda stuff but good on him for the red hot poke! Romain hack result....Dan hack result and Rosberg another crap result....Lewis is getting the run of the green these days
  7. Lol..wow and its still that lazy. Are you still in the std manifild? Maybe if you want the power you need to get a better manifold in it. I have gone 4.1 as it will give me better drive using 2nd and 17" tyre i run at places like Sandown and Winton.
  8. I have the 4.3 ring and pinion if you want to try and wake up a few revs. I get what you mean about gear change but its definitely the less of the evils looking at how lazy it is out of Dandy and on to the straights. It looks lazier than my RB20 with a TD06
  9. New turbo seems pretty doughy out of the corners. Your car has always been epic at getting out of the corners. You going to stick with it and do soem rapage of second gear on exits or work with the new setup?
  10. Well i am making my manifolds...just hoping to find cheap used GTX turbos
  11. Man the fark up. Tial 0.63 housings with the proper GTX2860 and comp cover high mounted with twin 35mm gates. Go 0.86 housing with GTX2867
  12. You cant get this up above the cradle where the std HICAS pump goes? Been considering one myself
  13. Would have been better to give them 10% more fuel and let them use full revs. Will make them a little louder but sort of stooopid as now all that energy is wasted and not harvested
  14. Muppets. A std Rb20 will make 270-280rwkws all day with a smart bolt on turbo on 98-100. Throw E85 at it and you can make 300rwkws reliably with 180rwkws at 4,000rpm a d about 18psi at 4,200 rpm. Some want more and thats cool. But 270rwkws makes for a perfectly drivable and powerful/fast car. Its no RB30 but perfectly drivable, usable and easy....AND reliable. It even runs low 12s in complete street trim.
  15. You are running a 324mm rotor with a spaced caliper? That could likely to be a contributor to the cracking due to pad being in a different offset to what it is designed for. You can end up withba higher than ifeal temp differential across the rotor face
  16. Funny...Fezz were nowhere with Kimi and Massa any Alonso challenged how many WDCs , won how many GPs and placed in the WDC vs team mates etc? McLaren have been rooted for years now Meanwhile, going to tough following Romain. Hope its a genius move and Fezz poach him on the departure of Kimi
  17. The racing from 8th thru 15th was pretty good. Damn Mercedes are just too dominant
  18. Listening to Radio Le Mans...giddy up Mark, Timo and Brendon
  19. Love reading about long term cars!
  20. So you haven't actually run the turbos since buying them? Just had them inspected? Did you ask why they were rebuilt and by who? I think I am mostly interested in the HKS pipes so will keep an eye out of the pics
  21. Hope so...away with work with no Foxtel so just paid $50 to get Play for the weekend...and stuck working so cant even watch the WEC race like I had planned. Webber killing it at the moment and comfortably in the lead
  22. Really, you put your old DBA rotors on and the shudder went away? As Duncan said, put a gauge on it and check the rotor for run out. Takes 10mins and you don't even need to take the wheel off the car, just jack it up. Secondly, get a crow bar in there and lever that bad boy and check for flogged out king pin bearings. I know that's what was causing my shudder under brakes.
  23. Shoot me a PM with bank details...i will take the carbon R32 N1 boot spoiler
  24. Sooo wrongs that i'ts RIGHT!
