  1. Will know by this weekend whether I will be back in Melb for that weekend
  2. Rd 2 at WR looks a possibility
  3. Will be interested to see what you get this year Russ. With bigger, new tyres, more grunt and response. Better brakes and a lot more experience of EC...you would hope to be into the 45s. I will bve happy with a 47 or there abouts
  4. I love reading the updates on this car...everything is soooo well done!
  5. So looking at Rally Live ... http://www.sportcom.com.au/targanews/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=20&Itemid=69 seems Blaise is off to a screamer, but Snowcone not being listed...hopefully he is having a better run then he did last year....but doesnt look good
  6. Well Russman on the forum has a quick GTSt and runs a 2530, when we drive each others cars there really us not a lot of difference in response. Of course the 2530 is punchier but does not the same top end...but end result is a about the same
  7. No, thats not what I am saying... MrStabby got it. With the same sized rotor on my car , the difference being the GTSt caliper offset vs the GTR Brembo...both on a 324mm rotor (but with different pads).... I cant say there was a big difference to how the car was stopping. I have not driven my car in anger that much lately, so only SOP but my braking points etc were about what I remembered from the laps I had done at Winton. Going from 280/296mm to 324mm rotor saw quite a difference in braking performance and general feel. So generally, i woudl go with the statement that rotor diameter and quality is more important then the caliper you are running, assuming both are similar sized calipers of OE quality
  8. I have some other badges for when it makes 300, will have to throw those on as well
  9. They were hardly knackered. They were around 50% worn
  10. Like this clown has any say. He just wants to be in the news. I might give him a good beating, that will get him back in the news
  11. Well at least there will be one other TD06 powered 20 for me to play with. May need to lose some weight though
  12. Well, a friend was good enough to lend me his R33 GTR Brembos recently for a track day at Winton. It was interesting as I had a set of DS3000s in there and the rotors were good condition std Nissan. I had never run a std GTR Brembo before on my car and was interesting to compare them against the Sumitomo R32 GTSt caliper on the same sized rotor. They were, give or take about the same as the cheaper GSTt caliper adapted to the rotor. There was a tad more stopping power which meant I was able to pinch brakes a little easier, but that could have been my not having driven in anger in a long while. In a 250rwkws GTSt on semis they were stressed and the fluid did boil. Didnt help that the pads were half thickness so the heat was going to get into the fluid quicker But point is, if you can get the Brembo gear cheaply then its a decent enough upgrade from a 280-296mm rotor. If you can get good quality rotors and adaptors cheaply then just space the std caliper out. But just keep in mind that the rotors are still borderline if you are doing 10+ minute sessions on the track in a car that weighs near std but with double the hp on semis in which case some of the 2-2.5k options should probably be entertained
  13. Good to see a consistant amount of working going into the car week in week out...god knows how hard it is to find time to work on cars
  14. Wow, cool pic. Will grab some forms and get ready for PIARC. Hopefully bring two days and I can get plenty of running
  15. I was looking around at gearbox options including PAR and an independent person told me about the only bullet proof thing out there is Hollinger...from there I was told the other boxes are decent enough things but in particular you need to make sure you are running a solid centre clutch, it is desirable to run ignition retard on changes and the PAR is very sensitive to misuse....which opens up all sorts of questions and defeats the purpose of buying an uber box...you want it to be bullet proof...so i didnt bother.
  16. ZI think it will be a bad move for Williams. They need stability, ie investors and not traders who will dump shares because they have not made 30% in a year
  17. Will get in touch when work settles down. In the meantime some filing of faces after finding some inlet leaks and some further tweaking of tune checking colour of plugs etc and almost as good as before plenum wjich is something I guess. Still no improvent, but now looks like I can live with it
  18. Doing some nice work....good to see another GTSt getting some love
  19. Yeh I am up in Brissie 4-5 weekdays and when things get sorted will spend some weekends up there, but at the moment we are in the design phase so have to be between two states. I am working in Virginia and staying in Redcliffe, though may move back to the city when things quieten down a little Someone needs to point me in the direction of who runs days at Lakeside and I need to get my car up there
  20. Hey, i have two sets of semis...RE55s and AO50s to back to back. Car is doing every track day it can...working in Brisbane is going to pose a few problems but will be doing 6-10 track days this year no problem. This has all been a result of trying to get a bit more from the std motor. It has been a case of dead money but its not stopping me from entering track days... the biggest problem is the track calender has dried up WRX not doing any PI days, no Sandown to later in the year. Maserati deciding to do their PI day the other week on a Friday. So the opportunity has not been there to giv eit a blast And this bolt on exercise has done nothing to help motivation
  21. No doubt the TD06 is an old thing, but from some testing on the same dyno its been proven to be more responsive and powerful then an RB20 with HKS GT-RS. Its more responsive then 3076 setups getting around with around the same power, but have not ran then on the same dyno. I am curious to see what a well tuned 3071 would do, I suspect that could be a better thing. But, I am going to have to simply settle for 270odd rwkws as the plenum exercise cost about 4 times what the engine is worth! Its interesting to see the results of trialing bolt ons but for now I am a bit frustrated that some of these aftermarket performance bits dont help performance. Seems that about the best thing you can do is throw a $500 wrecker motor in and just go, no need for plenums, cams, head gaskets or built bottom ends. A std RB20 can make all the power it is ever going to make and stil be reasonable responsive and drivable all with completely std internals....and perform better then some motor with cams, plenum and all the fluff that should give you power etc. To think this little experiment would have paid for the machining and all the fasteners and gaskets etf for my forged RB24 bottom end
  22. Well the few minor mods done to my car with the intention of tweaking it up a little means I have lost power and response, but the car is still handlign well. So lets see how mcuh i can fark that up trying to improve it as well
  23. Still std throttle body. What engine, turbo setup etc are you running? Was the same tuner before and after used with the same dyno? All variables removed? At the moment its too early to say all hope is lost with my setup but its not looking encouraging. There are no variables in y back to back other then plenum and ... well. But unless you can qualify that with dyno sheets and statements that nothing else was changed at the same time as the plenum, its the same dyno and tuner...and the tuner can talk about how the engine behaved with regards to taking timing and fuel and making its power....then I dont think you can jump online and spout that there is a performance improvement as you need to understand that others are spending money on your posting / advice. Maybe its an RB25 vs RB20 thing....but at the moment it seems the lil 20 loves its std plenum. Will see what the came gears and more tuning reveals
  24. Well there is this little problem at the moment that I want to "gouge out Plazmamans eyes and skull f**k him" So it doesnt look good. In fact I was a bit indifferent to it all accepting that there may not be a big difference. What I did not expect is it to hit power and response as bad as it looks to have. So far with a few runs and tweaks on the dyno the ignition has needed to be wound of the engine as with the same amount of ignition as the std plenum it pings its head off. So the first impression is that the engine is now very ignition critical and we are chasing response. So went off dyno to check a few things but it looks as though if there is a benefit to this plenum then its not readily there for the taking and cam gears, tune, tune and more tune to get std plenum performance and at the moment hoping there is only a small loss in performance, dont think I can really think about gains So for now it appears as though Sydneykid and Racepace etc have all been right all this time when they say the std plenum is the way to go.
  25. Will be interesting to see what a bucket load more power and tyre will net you. I know i will be nowhere near 1:42s. 1:45 and i will be giggling, but suspect i could be back in the 1:46-47s
