Well, I missed the tips from the last two rounds due to work (farking) and so back on for this week. I again let my emotions get the better of me and have put Webz down for a win. If he doesnt get it over Vettel this weekend then I think I may have to beat Seb up when at the Hungarian GP this year I hate that I cant put Rubens in for the top 10...Williams oh Williams, what a mess
-
Car has seat, tyres, brakes and I just have to find my licence and I am there. Car still needs so many things sorted but wont stop me from getting back out there for a punt
-
Oooh, car is ready, I have tyres...Will just check whether entries are still open
-
Thats ok...i have missed a few rounds. I just want some laps and try to beat my old PBs. I never got the most out fo my old setup, and sadly the new setup will be slower so will have to pedal it pretty hard to match my old times

Good to see I am not alone with regards to ill feelings towards Senna. No doubted a talented guy, but there were plenty of times when others had his measure, including his team mate. Harry touched on it...there were occassions when Senna only beat Prost because Senna put him to the sword and Prost preferred not to crash with his teammate for the sake of the team and results. If Prost was as single minded the two would have wiped corners off each others cars far more often. I only really remember watching GPs from 1988, with clear memory from about 92 onwards...didnt know enough about what I was watching to actually rate Senna, but I never liked him at the time.

They are not too bad a platform if they are sorted properly. Never going to be the quickest car, but with all the motorsport that has gone into the platform that they can definitely be made to turn and stop.

oh, uhh I bought a copy and can speak spanish

Yeh, watced the Senna movie last weekend. Still not a big fan of the guy, but by the end I had warmed to him a little more

Yeh, you seem to lose a bit of the powerband by falling off boost and power over 6,500rpm. Also, you can easily get 260rwkws with std inlet and 98ron. My car sees the track so my tune always has 4 deg taken out of them for when the oil and water gets up to 100+ deg C. Like I said, running 100ron was more an insurance thing for when it went to the track. I ran it on 98 fuel for about 6 months after shell removed their 100ron from the boswer...NO PROBLEMO So the 100ron was for insurance. Now that I have a plenum I need the 100ron as the engine is far more sensitive to the amount of ignition then engine can take. So it is prone to detonate unless I have the 100 in there to make about the same power
-
What power did it make ? (@ what boost?)

I am only really compairing them between 3,000rpm and 4,000rpm to get a good feel for how they ramp on. When we compared the two setups it was a very early tune of mine. Actually its the 234rwkw tune below. The 260kw tune also showed before is the exact same setup, only with 100rom shell fuel. The 100tune mostly helped with the ability to run a little more boos and a touch more ignition safely at the track. 98 safe tune 100 track tune The 100ron track tune above still has 4 deg igntion taken out of what we can get out of it BUT, this is getting a little off thread... Based on what swirto has posted I would be throwing a 3071 on the car. No lil RB20 is every going to pull in the 3,000rpm range. A short stroke 2L six needs revs to come on to cam and fill its lungs. Drivign a 2530 pwered RB20 vs a TD06 RB20 isnt all that different from seat of pants. The 2530 is a little nicer through the early 3,000rpm range but the 20G does not lose out by so much that the lag loses you a lot of general performance. So i think a 3071 is a good balance (based on your mods)between between being small enough for response and drvability bit size to spin and give you a good hit of 250rwkws up top
-
I run an 8cm housing (posted above) This is an earlier tune when i was running the 10cm housing and pretty conservative tune The 8cm is clearlt the better option Ash, no doubt if both our cars ran ebcs rather then just bleeds on std wastegates both could be improved, especially the GT-RS. But the shape of them ramping onto boost is the main thing I look at rather then whether they taper off at set boost pressure due to a bit of diaphragm creep
-
Boost response is very similar as you can see. With cam gears boost curve could be a little bit better. But the amount of flow and actual torque and response is superior with the 20G over the GT-RS. With cam gears then perhaps the GT-RS may have similar actual hp and torque curves. The catch of course is that whilst the cars were on teh same dyno within minutes of one another....the cars had different tuners. I went on to make a further 25rwkws and a tad more response by leaning on the tune after the dyno comparison and that subsequent tune still was perfectly reliable. So nothing to suggest that the 20G tune at the time of the comparison was a lot more aggressive as I later found out with a re-tune it was actually pretty conservative

A TD06-20G hits 20psi before 4,500rpm. And at 5,000rpm is making something like 210rwkws on its way o 260rwkws! So its all in the tune and setup. I made some mods with a different gate, manifold and now a plasmaman plenum and have lost response I did gain a tad in the top end but no very happy with the result. So stick with the std inlet manifold if you want better response and torque. A GT-RS on std manifold is laggier then a full TD06-20G setup, with gate and manifold. Years ago I backed to backed my car on a dyno with a friends GTS-4 in rwd which ran a similar exhaust, same intercooler and both std RB20. Though I had cam gears he didnt. So a GT-RS isnt a good in betweener with regards to performance, it performs worse then a 20G from both response and grunt. But if you need a std manifold low mount turbo then its a good solution, but performance is compromised. As you can see my 20G was running more boost but you can see the boost response is about the same, but the 20G actually make spower sooner

It was a white GTR Racepace special Nice work on the feature. -
I am stoked that Caterham have been acquired by TF. Best news and I now have a minnow team to really get behind. I think its great for all involved, and best of all it gives it to the dicks at Proton who have done nothing for Lotus since acquiring it (though i suppose they did stop them from going bust) Silly Proton, they coul dhave used the Lotus name to support Lotus racing and be in a partnership tp creat something woith Malaysian backing. Instead not they are just throwing money at a private F1 team

Well there goes that, was pretty obvious really. I have spent a good two weeks finding two cars to buy, one with a fully prepped shell and cage...and a DR30 is what I am looking at. May head up this weekend to look at the caged shell. 2.2L with a 5 speed dog box and with a friend who has a Gibson R31 and the pipeline of support on how to make a DR30 go Old school rwd goodness may be a Goer. ... Big thing is if the numbers add up need to consider what I could get if I sold it, as for me a lot of the fun woudl be building it...not sure if i can handle the logisitics and expense of tarmac rallies...so moving the car for not much of a loss if the sport is not for me is another consideration ?!?!? The other thing i was looking at was a Nismo 270R as i can get a good running aus delivered car for a song to be used as the base. But S14 isnt as interesting as a DR30

Do what the yanks do. Rip out the loom, all the thingies and just throw a sprint car V8 with Jerico 4-spd in 'er yo!
-
Well that makes two of us as I would kill for one of these Pommie Pieces of CRAP! Sheesh, no love for the Royal Wedding or white trash Bristol Spec performance cars
-
I only know of the two on my105... I like the idea of classic as the variety of cars are more interesting and a fun rwd car does not have to worry about the army of awd hypo cars so from time to time there could be a few cars that you can get close to. There is a prepped and caged shell and a cheap registered runner to turn into one car for a decent enough dollar. It will be COOL!
-
My god! Is that your road car or a second shell? Either way that is cooool. They are such good things in basic tune there seems to be a lack of seriously gutted and modded examples around! Real curious to know how much of their weight is all the doo-dahs electric things and how much is simple meat in the chassis?!?!
-
Is that the one dressed up in Gibson-esque colours? It was a nice thing when I was looking at it. But when you see EVO6s for 8k as race only imports...from a performance standpoint the lil GTS-4 does not really stand up But, if you shoot me an email addy Greg, I would be interested to know if there is any competition history for the car I am considering.
-
So how loose are the rules for Classics up to '85. I had plenty of time whilst waiting by the side of the road and thought of a pretty cheap and fun Classic MS car. Looking at some of the Torana's/ Mustangs I think I could put something through a sausage machine that would be fun and and pretty cheap, that once in a while could be pretty quick And all this talk of Evos must make your vaginas sore? If you need 2L AWD then go R32 GTS-4 baby but seriously...Cossie Escort all the way!!!!! Every 2-3 months I look at all the cool Grp N ones you can buy out of Europe for almost a song. Most LHD but some RHD.

Dont mock the Royal Wedding! I can't wait to their married so I can go public with my stories of what a young, drunk Kate Middleton let me do to her
