  2. SO, sick of toasting RB25 boxes behind a 20 so you throw a more powerful RB25 engine in front of the same sort of gearbox? Any excuse to lose the RB20 ay? Interesting to see how it goes...you guys are just rough bastards. My car will hit 200,000kms this weekend at Winton and its still the original gearbox !
  3. Your inbox is full and i cant send you a PM
  4. Old Flav struggles doesnt he? I mean this is his latest piece of crumpet, and before is the very long lis including Heidi Klum etc
  5. Can you check the inside of the exhaust housing and see if there is a number cast into it? An 8, 10, 12 or something. If you are interested in breaking it up then I am looking for a TD05
  6. I will have to print out the torque graph... I never bothered as when I was comparing my plot with a a built SR20 running the same turbo from teh same workshop I almost cried at how little and pathetic the shape of my torque curve is ....
  7. Hey it may be right. But looking at G traces and speed traces off my data logger I know what works for my car.
  8. Ahh, it is the Renault Factory team. They are the Kubz colours for 2011...NO?
  9. SO just grabbing the first dyno sheet i could off Forced Induction... Am i right in understanding that people are saying the thing should be changing gears at 6,000rpm to make sure its in the meat of the torque curve when it falls a few rpm for the next gear? I dont agree...but thats fine...
  10. Nah, that Jamal fella had an EVO III Cossire Merc. He was two years older then me so was one of my brothers mates. He used to use it to cruise past Santa Sabina Girls school and let the car do the hard work for him. I dont think an RS500 would have helped him as much considering back then every CRX had a Cossie rear wing
  11. Well along with my friends old Evo I, a school mate of Doughboy had one ... in HIGH SCHOOL! They guys name was Kamal, Jamal or something. Fancy having one in 1992 as a Year 12 student! They were cooler then in my eyes. If you have to do trashy 80s then there is noo ther car....it has to be an RS500, every day of the week!
  12. Unigroup...lol all the greatest engineering minds were produced by UTS, what a fine establishment
  13. Hi, cant see myself buying the engine as I am trying to sell all my Toney RB24 parts myseld. But interested to see a dyno sheet and difference between std RB20s with 2530s. That is certainly an impressive figure for a HKS 2530...but whatever the number, the shape of the curve would be interesting. Perhaps it will change my mind Free Bump for a cool engine!
  14. I know nothing about tuning, but engines typically detonate when at peak torque and cylinder pressures are at their highest. So saying tuned for peak torque but safe does not really make sense?!?!? (Does it?) Its probably safeer to throw more ignition in the top end and make more power then it is to chase a bit of mid grunt-torque by running more ignition in the lower revs as it ramps onto boost. Maybe thats not what is being said and I am off base... Have a think about P = (Torque x RPM) / 5252. So an engine with pretty lazy torque curve, or just really flat curve can still make very good power at higher revs. Its been my experience that whilst turbos help engines a world with torque, they typically respond best to shifting around peak power, not torque. At the end of the day, if your car is going to see more track work then lazy road kms I would only get the car tuned by a person experienced in that sort of motor and how they behave on the track when things , everything gets hot. He will know more then any of us here on SAU, and at the end of the day he is the one who has to stand by his work in case something goes pear shaped....and in that sad case "the people on SAU told me ... " wont help get the car fixed
  15. My mate had one of the base twin Cosworth Mercs. In the below pic you can see it parked next to my car at Wakefield years back. It was featured in Zoom years ago. Sad day when he sold it... Sorry about the bad pics...they are what are still on the UAS website from the day
  16. Panoz is pretty cool. But its the gearbox, and farting that makes it tough, its WOT doesnt end the world. A race V8 at WOT shoudl sound like the world is ending The sound in this vid does not do the Vettes justice. They shake the earth, lierally as they drive by... Yopu hear the wtin cam corollas, errr i mean Ferraris and Lambos go by then the 8s! 600hp...that WRX sounds like poo! Its probably quick, but big difference between a great noise and very loud. My car is loud, any atmo gate, time attach car etc is loud, but due to teh sucky nature of the base engine they will never sound special! (IMO)
  17. Th R35 GT1 does sound pretty tough being a V8...but then when I saw it at Spa last year, the problem was it was surrounded by GT1 Vettes and DB9s which sound so much better!!!! Have to go with Phunky on this one...nothing beats quad rotors! But a close second...
  18. So it was a V10? It was silver from memory, the only colour for a real car
  19. Where is the E30 build with the 540i V8?
  20. I think Sandown is out of the equation for the rest of the year. Best you can do I think is Winton on the 19th. SAU have drinks on the 18th so not sure how that weekend is going to work out....
  21. I say just get it tuned to make what the tuner thinks is right for a track car. Throw your suspension and tyres at the thing and see how it goes. If it simply too much power for the setup then consider winding a bit of boost out of it and soften up the ignition in the meat of the curve but keep it in the top end My 2c
  22. He should spend the off season in a Polish whore house just sitting back and enjoying himself. His usual pre-season prep has not worked for him so far so time for something a little different
  23. My votes are in ... and shameless plug for most improved car... ME From To This
  24. So everyone wondering why Webber maybe lost a bit of pace towards the end of the season when before had the measure of Vettel. Buried deep in his book Up Front, which was launched last Wednesday comes the revelation ... One can only assume Webber hasnt wanted to highlight the fact he drove in the last four races of the year with a fractured right shoulder because he didnt want to be seen to be making excuses for the way the world drivers championship slipped from his grasp in the fi nal race in Abu Dhabi. In the book he reveals that, again, bike riding was the catalyst for the latest injury. Mountain biking with a mate while back in Australia between the Singapore and Japanese GPs, the friend crashed and Webber had nowhere to go but over the top of him, or straight between the ears of the horse as he likes to say.
