  1. Hi, i have laying around some unused swaybars. There are two fronts. One 27mm custom Whiteline adjustable and one 24mm adjustable. To go with the two fronts i have a 24mm rear custome adjustable. Effectively the front and rear are custom thicker swaybars intended for a circuit car running semi slicks. I also have the softer std Whiteline catalgue bar for the front which i was trying at one point with the bigger rear swaybar. (more oversteer for motorkhanas) Looking at selling them all for $350, located in Melb
  2. Dont std RB26s make peak torque at something like 6,000rpm...cannot see how bigger duration/lift cams are going to dramatically bring it down?!?!?!
  3. Well i am in my element then
  4. So has anybody actually entered lap dance yet?
  5. But AWD hackness means that you get away with murder!
  6. Ferrari powered, no funding but they did have a good car at the end of 2009 de La Rosa is a hack and i can see them being better then the newbies but cant see them being in the top 5 teams. At the pointy end it will be interesting, McLaren and Ferrari are almost givens at the front. Will RBR and Mercedes be able to back up again this season? Then you have Williams and Renault...so there are a few teams out there all figthing for top 10
  7. Will be interesting, i dont think they have the 107% rule, but perhaps they shoudl bring it back. SO many new cars and new drivers, whilst losing BMW and Toyota, well the midfield-tail end just got a little bigger
  8. Just sms'd my mate re where he heard they were cast and he tells me he read it in HPI so ???? What floody has posted makes far more sense
  9. I was once told the manifolds were cast but i was told by a pretty reliable source that was not the3 case, and thinking about it ... it would be very unusual to have a casting so thin. And yes, Jimbo drove the R31 IN 1990, Skaife started playing with the GTR from Mallala but Richo held off until it was firstly reliable and quicker... for the last two rounds. But the R31and its RB20 was the work horse for the season that made the championship for Richo
  10. Pics, a few days late...
  11. Hey, that dirty engine won Nissan the ATCC and the JTCC, and many rounds in the European series. If the shitty R32 GTR and its fat ass AWD system didnt weigh so much , then Nissan woud have stuck with the 2L capacity, but since they couldnt make the min weight for 2000cc then bumped it up to 2600cc knowing the AWD system pushed them up a class. What has an SR20, RB25 etc ever done!
  12. Ripz in NZ do some nice tubular manifolds I dont know what they cost but they are not cheap and nor are they fully mandrel bent pieces
  13. Nice,BUT, make that maifold using far tighter bends and twists to fit an in line 6 tucked close to the inner strut then hand a 6kg weight off it when its glowing red. I agree they are not impossible to make, but i looked closely at this back in 2000-2001 as i was working for a specialistwelding/fabrication company and as the Australasian agents for serck we did lots of shell ad tueb heat exchangers and at the time i had a good feel for the tube bending costs
  14. Looks like the party is about finished and Nick isnt going home with anyone. Surely Renault are going to pick him up. Its going to be a circus the first few roudns with some seats still available ten days before testing starts. Seriously, get the guys fitted to the car, working with their engineers....they will be wasting millions if a driver just rocks up on day one and has to learn tooooo much in one hit
  15. err, sorry, steel is steel is steel, nothing has changed in a good many years. Also, you wont be able to make anything like the GMS manifold or the GTS-R manifold as they are mostly mandrel bent pieces of tube, so think 6 bent tubes welded together. NOT your box of elbow and pipe all welded together into a mix of bits like a 6boosdt. Mandrell bent means less welds, less likely to crack, smoother ID, so less turbulence and heat As for design, nothing has changed in that area as well, remember then pinncle of turbo technology was back in the 80s with F1. About the only development is making cast manifolds with integral turbo exhaust housings. Also Ash, i think you will find Jetwreck has a pretty good idea about these cars as he gets to drive them on a good weekend But back to the point, the engine itself only makes a little bit more power then my std RB20, and the main reason it will be more reliable is cooling. Put the GMS RB20 in my car and it woudl still suffer after few laps because of the poor cooling of my road car. So the question is, what woudl you pay for an RB20 with std crank, std rods, and ported head and cams/valves. I would pay 6-8k including a good oil pump etc And i have a pretty good idea of whats in these engines
  16. Like anything, only worth what the market is willing to pay. I dont discount that it is worth upwards of 25k as a package. But where crazy ol MG owners pay 6k for a 150hp rebuild etc, and crazy old Escort owners pay 50k for BDA engines....sadly there are very few old men running around pining for a Gibson RB20DET-R. Especially since there is no shell to put it in so that t can go race. May as well just run a std motor with a turbo setup like my lil 20 and make 420hp on the cheap for weekend thrasher. The other thing is there isnt a shortage of Gibson blocks and heads laying around, so even to the current owners of GMS cars i dont see them being in high demand by other owners. Shame, because they are a sweet sounding engine that make good power! I just need a bucket load of cash to buy a GMS GTS-R then i would be happy to buy one
  17. Well wheni moved to Vic, i kept my NSW plates for about 2 years but then it was easier to join all teh savages down here and get Vic rego. Vic Roads are not right in the head charging what they do ... so i never got the Vic equiv
  18. Hey John, looking at your username makes me want to get my old BRI58Y plates back
  19. Well, if only shorter events...then TD06 it up BABY!
  20. This is why lapdance will be funny. Its going to be a wierd cross section of cars with different approaches to going fast. It saddens me when 400rwkws is meeted with an "only" statement. ...and 1.32s will be an amazing effort. That is V8 Supercar/Carrera Cup pace but onslicks. Sure, they run control slicks that may not be the best things out there....but for a DIY to be on that pace then will be a great effort. I think more like 1:34s will be the pace on semis .... and for the GTSt crowd anyone that can get under a 1:47 gets a lap dance paid for by me by one of the fine ladies that hangs out at the Shell servo down the road at 1am
  21. Very keen to hear of the results. Cameron...things got potential. My std RB20 made 185rwkws on 6psi tuned to run 16psi on the TD06. So its got a head start on that figure.
  22. Be interesting to see the results, i would rather far less duration though, its still only a lil 2.4L
  23. But if you drive an R35 you will be too busy getting hand jobs off the 14 year old boys in the pits! LOl, ok that might be too harsh. Yeh, hadnt considered the R35, you would think its going to be hard to beat, i am guessing a mortal can get within 2 seconds of Luffs time? Its pretty sad to think that i would be stoked if i could get a 1:48 and out of my mind happy if i did a 1:47 in my R32 GTSt on semis...which will still be miles off the pace Snowie will probably Cobb up his R35 and go get some hand job action
  24. Classes? Meh, throw some semis on it and see how fast you can go. Whilst i think a rwd car will be closer to any stoopid Evo or STI at EC then it woudl ever be at OP, i think the Clubsprint will be dominated by the AWD boys still. So throw on the tyres and give open a go. the GTSt will need the grip and then you can at least gauge how far you off all those aliens that wear race suits and driving gloves
  25. Nope, just talking shit! Only serious question i have are the Honda powered Exige boys entered? They will take lots of beating if they are!
