  1. LOL, well if i can find a clutch for under $1500 i am going to throw the 33 box in mine....so you can have my freak gearbox that will never give up the ghost. I must have got one of the special ones out of the factory, perhaps my car was an ex Press car
  2. They are all too expensve and part of the reason why my car was absent from the track in 2008....i sped $4500 on tyres in 2007. That is abou tmy budget for the year for entry adn fuel etc So i stretched the bank too far in 2007 So the obvious question, is a 245/40/17 semi slick cheaper then a slick from the same manufacturer?
  3. Because a spring is a spring is a spring...within reason. So changing the spring rate isnt address the whole situation. Provied the shocks all come out and the increased spring rate is accompanied by a change to the shock valving then i am confident the Bridgestones would be great. Being in Sydney i think this is your best option.
  4. Can i drink the Can Club at MGs? That sounds like a weekend worthy of flying up to Sydney for !
  5. The rules suck as long as their isnt a class for balding blondes guys driving silver R32 GTSt that most of the time have an odd coloured panel and dents
  6. LOL, some people will let anybody drive their car
  7. Really, so is that the latest Typhoon? BF or whatever its called? The FPV Falcons i have paid attention to ran 4 pots. FPV must be spending some biccies on brakes
  8. I would personally thing RE55s would make a big difference at a place like OP. Its a 1:17sec odd lap so i would think that tyres could bag you two seconds? Can understand how on a shorter track like Wakefield you will struggle to get 2 seconds....but plenty of long turns and changes of direction at OP
  9. The Typhoon brakes use pistons far bigger then those sold in the F50 kit. From memory it is 48mm and 44mm , compared to the normal 44mm and 40mm. The rotors can have custom hats made and also custom mounts, but they will cost about $1000 min then you wll still need brake lines. So $6500 is a lot of money bt anything is possible. Frankly you can get Brembo F50 calipers for the fron for about $2500 and GTR rear calipers for about $800. Then go fishing for rotors and front brackets which means you will go close to getting the whoel setup for 5k
  10. Do the splits come with crossover...also could you throw them on the scales for me and tell me what they weigh?
  11. Cusco zero 2's are not that flash and sure as hell not worth the money they ask for them. The Teins seem to be a pretty safe bet, all roudn flexible and good quality shock. I was in a similar position regardign a change from Whiteline street package and going to the Teins. I went Teins as thats what is better supported in club car circles down here in Vic. With Heasmans and Bilsteins beign so well supported in NSW then i atrip to them to get your current Bilsteins tweaked or up spec'd should be seriously considered.
  12. How many cars at this ears event John Care for a spin a lowly R32 GTSt. It would be funny to see it up where it doesnt belong Serious question. If i enter Clubsprint with the tyres i drive there on. Enter Open with a set of RE55s, can i enter Pro if i get a hired gun? If so would you do the entrant a better entry fee for entering all 3 classes? Or more likely a combination of two out of three classes?
  13. You are one up on me, my virtually stock R32 only has a half cage Provided i am the first out there, get a clean lap in, up the boost to 35psi then hold on for a hot seond lap....i am pretty sure the oil down on my 3rd lap will prevent anyone going quicker
  14. I here your reservations but i think the best policy for these sort of events is run with a few rules and as cars and drivers emerge then refine the rule. No point framing rules around what cars people say they are going to build, may be turning up with. Its best to have some thought out rules, and refine them. I tend to agree regarding doors and glass for the Open class, but then again i am happy to run against cars more modified then mine. Provided the guy in the drivers seat owns the car then driving ability is a thing that varies a lot from car to car and can easily and cheaply be improved to match the other guys. Now in the Pro Class no matter how hard i try, how regular i practice and how much money i spend on mods...there is no way i will be able to compete with semi pro drivers, driving instructors etc etc. So i am happy to see have the Open and Pro class fairly similar. It means i can gauge myself on the guys up ahead, but really only compete with regaular guys like me....and my car stll runs a std RB20, doors, glass, gearbox, std basic weight etc etc But it has enough power to justify semi slicks as without them i struggle as awd cars with the same power, weight and tyre will destroy me irrespective of whether they are better drivers, worse drivers etc.
  15. Is worth serious consideration. I mean i can fit a bench, seat and bed in the back. Throw a littl Gen Set in their, air compressor and tools/tyres. Throw a camping fridge in there...then a tow hook. For about 25k all up could have a pretty full on support/tow vehicle... Hmm...
  16. If you have an R33 then i would personally go baby twins for the 310-330awkws. Simply because of the manifolding and dump/front pipes etc can all stay the same. If you have the cash then upgrade the front pipes and aybe even dump pipes. I love single setups, but if you bought a GTR with twins then i would keep it that way. Ensuring you have a good quality single manifold and wastegate will almost be the price of the twins you can buy.
  17. With the arm for the HICAS lock, is that a best guess or a proven.tested location to minimise bump steer?
  18. How about you just lease it to me.LOL i will give you money for year to let me track it
  19. A few people have said it, but personally i dont understand how its the case? Not saying i am right. But how does a front heavy car with no aero and high centre of gravity with relatively soft suspension and dramatic suspension travel able to make use of increasing rear braking bias, unless of course it was massively underdoen from teh factory? The ease at which Skylines lock rears suggests thats not the case
  20. The leadign pistons are smaller then the trailing pistons...this is so you get even pad wear. Rear Porsche calipers run pretty bg pistons from memory as with all the weight in their bum they can run a lot mroe rear bias then a Skyline with a diff and steel block over the front wheels And i highly recommned you stay away from slotting the brackets and relying on the torque of the botls to locate the caliper. Use a single hole with the correct clearances for the botl you are using. Brakes undergo lot of heat cycles and lots of load. The last thing you want is the caliper working loose
  21. The big catch is that the calipers are on the back side of the rotor. ie look at the side of the car and the caliper is on teh door side of the rotor not the front bumper side. This means that the trailing and leading piston orientation is wrong. You can change around the bridge and bleed nipples to fix this. Then you need to suss some rotors that are the right offset and PCD and diameter to use with them. All stuff that can be fixed. Here is the bigger problem . The Porsche is rear or mid engined, which means they have more weight over the rear axle and tend to run way more brake bias. What i cant tell you is if this is all done with the master cylinder or with brake rotor diameter and caliper piston sizes. I guess its a bit of both which means if you run th Porsche calipers all round then it can be less then optimal bias...COULD
  22. Keep it Dane. Talking to a Snr Cams guy he was telling me there is a lot of pent up frustration with people applying for rally reg on cars that are not used in formal dirt/tarmac rallies. The rule as for cars like EVOs etc that were sold in OS markets to compete witout formal compliance and rego. Not for guys who import bitzas and want to drive them to the track for a thrashing. Warning i got was if it can be complied then they wont take too kindly to handign out rally reg....but then you get different verdicts from different ppl which is another problem all together
  23. Hey Baron...how would the Atlas 200 go towing a trailer and car. The lock up security of the back for tools nad tyres...hell somewhere to sleep woudl be cool. Cheap rego too. Could it tow a 1300kg car + trailer?
  24. Cougar lost it.. was holding on too tight . Turned in his wings..... (Scotsman)
