That turbo GT3 is to die for! This year is going to be a hoot. As soon as the weather clears up i am going over. Only i am buying a shitter to do laps in that way when i can have a go and not live in fear of binnig it
  2. 17 x 8.5 +30 all round is ideal . 235/45/17 or 235/40/17 are the most common tyres sizes available as so many cars use them these size tyre is the volume seller and therefore generally cheapest. The 8.5" rim also means the tyre is a pretty good fit. The +30 offset means no issue with guard clearances and it gives you half a chance of getting some brakes in the wheels should you ever need them....but brakes will always be a ball ache on a GTSt that cant take a very low offset wheel
  3. The R35 is an amazing performance car. But personally if you are spending this much money its not just about performance. I bet i can build a far quicker, more economical car to track for less then 40k that is still registered. And i say track for where else do you get to use this sort of performance unless you are happy to lose the car and licence etc So yes the GTR won the EVO shootout...but some quotes so that ppl who have not read the article dotn cloud the issue or decision... "The GT2 is so close to greatness it hurts. Of all the cars its the one capable of delivering the biggest adrenalin rush...the power of its twin turbo flat-six defines the car, which is fiercely too hardcore to cope with the forces" The Lambo beat both the Porka on wisht list factor, but the price counted against it and the quality of the paddle shift and brake pedal feel. On the excitement, enthusiasm chart the Lambo then Porka had it. And now for the GTR..."No it didnt ignite the fires of lust...its styling an acquired taste...there isnt another performance car on the planet thats as devastatingly cost effective as the Nissan...breathtaking confidence etc" So, it is a supreme performance car....but again, for 150k i think you need some of the emotion the Porsches etc have to make it appealing to me. If the GTR looked as good as it performed then i would love the thing...but lets be honest. If the thing had a Hyundai or Proton badge i would not be surprised and we would be payign it out. The fact that its a Nissan and its ball achingly fast means it makes up for the looks and lack of wood factor when you see and hear it
  4. Oh man. Max has been posting for ages and it looked to be so close to completion. Thieving scumbags
  5. r3240sx, any updates? Be interesting to see the results.
  6. Sammut Bros 300ZX, what did that run? It was an RB30ET
  7. It will only fit under some sets of 17s. I have had a similar problm getting wheels to clear my 343mm setup
  8. Also a Chrome Moly cage doesnt fit the requirements of FIA/CAMS cages for wall thicknesses. The whole point is to use thinner gauge chrome moly as it has equal strength and less weight. So doing so require the cage to be engineered by the manufacturer that includes modelling etc to ensure that it meets the load tests stipulated for ROPS. This cost alone often bumps the cost of a chrome moly cage in a CAMS log booked car up to close double. As Risking pointed out the need to Tig = more dollars (generally dont need to post weld heat treat bt some still prefer to do so). More difficulty in bending/workability = more money. Material= more dollars. The precision of the fit up = more dollars (tig isnt so forgiving on the quality of the fit up). And finally the engineering / certifications = more money...so all up chrome moly cages can often cost far more and unles it is a very complex cage with lots of metal then only then does the weight savign add up to tens of kgs and in my eyes is perhaps worth it.
  9. Big Bird! Is it too late for you to go and rip some skids in Fed Square in the Bullet to get some calender worthy photos
  10. Nice vids Nisskid. Is it still an RB20? The car looks pretty behaved under power. I thought on the back straight you would be able to peg 5th gear? What sort of grunt has the bus got?
  11. Wheel alignment, Is the ride heights at least close to correct? Go pay $200 for a proper wheel alignment
  12. Rather then looking at what boost it has at 4,000rpm, can i ask how much torque and power it is making at 4,000rpm?
  13. Silver R32 GTSt with Momo seats and titanium exhaust...with screamer. Cant be that different to the 360 Challenge can it? Swaps for the white GT3, and you never have to be worried about a scary repair bill again from a client hitting something
  14. I think you will find its only a rumour that is being dismissed by all parties
  15. Will Skype you when i get home. I stumbled accross him as i was looking at 65 Impalas and 68 Camaros
  16. There is a guy importing Challengers into Aus and converting them. They are silly money though
  17. LOL, no love for gold wheels ?
  18. Con is a lucky guy...the only other thing that needs to be considered and may be pretty cheap is a Z06, but that may be a limited appeal thing as well
  19. How about one of the Aussie built Daytona Coupes? Like the thing that poor old Bock passed away in? I sure as shit woud kill for one and would have to think if the Ford GT is popular then this would do well for less money. They are a bew car, albeit a reproduction
  20. AFM otherwise NFI. Take out your interior and fluff and sell me a cheap basis for a track car

    Quad Charged Gtr

They are centrifugal supercharges so doesnt equate to the usual thinking of supercharger response and torque like a positive displacement (screw/roots etc etc) type blower. I 2nd the mostly wank call...seems a bit silly and complex
  22. That is the first Fagetti that i thought "Wow, thats what they shoudl all be like"
  23. Surely the trad off is with the additional torque of the RB30 that you can spread the torque curve over a wider road speed range by dropping the diff ratio, which also means less time lost on gearshifts and also helps traction in a rwd car.
  24. Funny you talk about braking distances. Havent drive them so can only go on what i have reat but Road & Track Magazine in one article the stopping distances within 2-3 feet of one another in favour of the GTR but repeatability and consistancy with the 997 Turbo. The general theme for the test saif the Michelins were not as good a tyre as the GTRs tyres (Dunlops?) So i cant see either car using the other as braking markers...its been my experience that Porka guys at the track understandably respect their cars and drive them within their limits, a lower limit then the car...lol, how else can my little RB20DET beat and go door to door with 996 GT3s
  25. An 18G compressor may be the easiest option of high flowing your turbo and getting abit more grunt from the setup.
