  1. I outrank you both with Dutton footage Its all in the co-driver
  2. One more thing. There is a market for these cars. Just like there is a market for Sports cars, utes, wagons etc. No one car suits the population. To dismiss the new Holdens as rubbish is unfair, every major model revision they close the gap to other manufactures, still nto quite there but they are getting better
  3. So BMW dressing up a 3 series is perfectly fine but if HSV dress up a Holden? What is the price difference between the TT 330ci and the M3? And no way you can put your kids and ski gear in an M3 and go away for the weekend. Or take off on long touring drives with the kids in an M3. Now here is a man with the real question. I would take an RS4, simply because it looks great and is a tad smaller, but i woudl get the wagon What are these cars priced like compared to the HSV?
  4. And what do you need software wise on your taptop to record
  5. Did you try those places? You can get them out of the states or Japan and have them by the end of next week. Its not hard.
  6. I suppose thats the thing, i look at the cars with consideration of what they have to work with, What i was getting at is look at the price of a manual SS. Scary expensive to me, and its relatively cheap for a new performance car. SO add better gearbox, more advanced drivetrain, DOHC engine with the occassional use of alloy panels, suspension components etc and the dollars will spiral out of control. They are built and designed to a cost for our market, which is users and conditions. Holden isnt in the position to build cars for the global market. Our conditions dont readily lend them selves to the Asian market and it would be silly to go up against BMW, Mercedes and Audi in their own markets withoug HM/Opel bank rolling the whole thing. But again how many 5 series get sold compared to 3 series, so Opel with the Vectra etc already have what they need. So HSV get given their bits to do with what they can. I see the faults in them, but looking at what other manufacturers produce i am quite impressed with what Holden muster, I only wish GM would give them the chance to design and build cars for their other markets, (other then Dubai and HSVs in UK, where they are loved by the way)
  7. Ok, very simple question for you. So by advancement, you are referring to DOHC, tricky gearboxes etc. Please tell me why a DOHC V8 would be better in a Commodore? Also, re the displacement. Have you checked the displacement of things like AMGs etc etc lately. Seen the displacement that Lambos etc are using to make the power these days. So why single out Holden? WHat do all modern cars weigh these days. Ppl rave about the GTR, look at what it weighs and it has adopted all sorts of exotic materials. The HSV weighs what it does mostly because of the crash tests requirements and airbag, side curtains, all the other safety systems adn luxury items...not to mention its a big 4 door car. And why single out Aussie manufacturers? Again, go look at what other performance mid sized. large sized sedans are weighing from BMW, Mercedes, Audi whoever you care to mention. Now tell me the Holden is significantly heavier, hell some of the cars i mentioned are made of alloy panels etc etc and still weigh more. It sometimes surprises me when local manuf get singled out for the trend that is modern, expensice, overly electronic cars. LOL, rather then type dribble we need to sit down and have a few beers while we discuss the point
  8. 0-100km/h times are all fine and dandy, but to me the measure of real performance is the trap speed over the qtr mile, and how quikcly a car can trounce from 80km/h to 200km/h. Some cars are flattered by less power and more grip, cars like WRXs and even little Golf GTis etc. Wind out the gears and they lose out as theu traction whilst flattering only helps them up to 60km/h. Where you can use all this power? Nowhere, all cars are too quick to enjoy on the street these days. Thats why i am loving the Getz i am driving at the moment, so underpowered and so little grip you can have fun and not doing anything too silly
  9. All very good...but can you imagine how much the car would cost if Holden had to build a quad cam engine, DSG gearbox etc for such a low volume vehicle? I dont thnk the premium asking price is worth it. But i can see where the numbers come from when you consider they will actually sell them at those dollars. Also, regarding the Soarer motor...so what. It makes no more power or torque then the equiv year model HSV. Why pay for all that complexity when it doesnt give you more power, and marginal improvement on economics. Can you imagine how much it would kill the aftermarket scene if you need 4 cams for an NA power upgrade. Hell Porsche had 2 valve heads for ages, MErc ran 3 valve hears, they even built a pushrod engine to race at the Indy 500. I dont get why people get so caught up in the pushrod thing. The resutls and tunability make them more desirable to me. I would love to buy a 240Z and throw an 8 in it. I would love to say i wold go VH45 but there is no way you could go past a Chev. Hell look at the Ultima, pushrods and would blow a GTR into the weeds Anyway OT and a pointless discussion that is had on this forum every fortnight. Fact is all new performance cars a friggin fortune these days, sadly the HSV is no different...though to me not enough of a gain over a Calais or SS after a visit to local speedshop and suspension joint
  10. Adam and those bashing Holdens. What is the population of Japan, how many automakers? What is Australia's population and how many car makers do we have? Australia has a proud history of making sport sedans, performance saloons, GTR cars, whatever you want to call them. We like hot rods and its what our manufacturers are good at, it just so happens its all they can really do given the dollars. The GTR is a all out purpose built sports car. The HSV is a hot rodded sedan, i love the fact that the cars are re-engineered mass produced cars. They are a different challenge to build, to drive and they appeal to different people. They are infinitely tunable unlike the European makes...so, anyway. I love cars, all cars. Would i buy this...nope. Would i buy the Coupe should they build it...FARK YEH! Either that or the new Camaro thankyou. I think some people feel better when they bash Holdens, each to their own i suppose. I can certainly see their appeal and i dont doubt HSV will sell them in a flash. The VL Walkinshaw could not be given away in its day, much like the R32 GTR. Look at what the VL is worth alongside a GTR
  11. I post tripe on internet car forums, i dont actually drive my car Would love to enter, but have some other priorities at the moment that means my car is parked at present. Though since a friend has just had some dramas this past weekend, he may not be needing my suspension for the event which means one piece of the puzzle has been found
  12. For a Pol you sure are Old School Irish!
  13. Yeh nbo doubt the car has more in it. I was just trying to point out that i dont think you can say that the 1.5 sec improvement at PI upon his second visit is a result of mods to the car. First time Dunlop rear and Toyo fronts from memory. Second time there he has the same tyre all round (RE55s i think) which even if the tyres are old would be most likely better then tyres that come up to temp adn grip at different times. Then there was the fact that at the PIARC day whilst there was still lots of cars in attendance, the traffic was not as bad, and he had more track time without the EPA dickign him for noise etc etc. I bet he would have seen a 1.5sec improvement if he had not touched the car....but since he has, he probably has lifted the performance ceiling further then what he is currently seeing.
  14. See here is the thing, so many variables. No doubt the tweaking of the Zed made a difference to for its second visit to the island. But his first time there was exactly that, his first time there. Not to mention he had dramas with traffic as it was a very busy Nationals day. Secondly he wasnt even running the same tyres front to rear. And when you say decent springs and shocks wasnt he still running the Teins at PI?
  15. Top work on the great time. Yeh, its great to see that with a wider cross section of cars and driverr everybody is still going scary quick. Back in 2004/2005 that would have been quick enough to get you into the top few cars inc all the GTRs. No doubt with time, practice and development there is more fin to be had. LOL, i cant imagine punting a 1600 around a place like Sandown with the slow corners. SO much steering effort must be required!
  16. Hey its nice...but are you mad? Your car is mint in every way, with plenty of hardcore parts, power, brakes, suspension and body. You both have immaculate cars, but your car is Aus delivered and has so many good parts to have a hand feed over.
  17. What happened to your black GTSt ? Yes, this GTR even had me running checking bank statements and my bank managers drinking habits, as they would have to be drunk to lend me money for a car i would only bin
  18. If you want to run an R33 or R32 Brembo caliper on your R32 GTSt then they are almost a bolt on affair. You need to use the GTR rotor (324mm) which once the caliper is off requires you to cut off the dust guard and then simply slide on, easy. Next you will find that the bolt whilst the same diameter is a different pitch . So the bolt will easily go through the hubm, you just need to either buy a new bolt (good idea) or make sure you GTR calipers come with the bolts as well. Then its a matter of bolting up the lines (striaght fit) install pads and bleed brakes. If you use R32 or R33 calipers and rotors then its as near to a bolt on job as you get with cars. If you have an R34 simply grab R34 GTR calipers which are cheaper as there doesnt seem to be the demand as there arent that many R34 owners compared to R32/33 owners chasing them. Shameless plug, if you want to run Brembos then i have some F40 calipers that run the GTR rotor for sale, better more flexible setup with near new rotors and better caliper for the same asking price as used GTR gear
  19. Man , the Micolour R32 was doing an Endurance Race all day. LOL, i think the only car that came close to doing as many laps was the yellow Commodore Shame to see so many people having problems today. But good work to Matt for winding the time he did out of his bus before problems struck LOL, like last track day i am pumped about the next one now, though as the date looms closer i am sure my enthusiasm will wane as the dollars add up And top work to the Datta Mafia. First thing i saw in the morning when i got there was Lee and Troy (feck...bless you) in the Dattos passing a whote R33 GTR Good to see scrutineering went your way as well
  20. What seat are you running Dave? Velo?
  21. Item: RB20 or RB26 Coil Packs Age: 1992 R32 GTSt Condition: Used but functioning Price: $30 each or $150 the set To Fit: RB20s, RB26 and possibly Series I RB25 (?) Location: Melbourne Contact: Thread or PM Comments: These were removed from my car a ways back and just found them in a box. They were functioning fine up to 16psi on my RB20. Though at 19psi the car had a small miss so rather then stuff around i purchased Splitfires to go with the new gapped plugs. At worst one might be a little on the weak side. They all measured up with correct resistances etc when tested hto and cold
  22. You all suck ! I will be there in the Getz:( Dont know why i deny myself, its not like the saving is going well anyway
  23. There you go. That is why you play A Grade and i am stuck in the shit kicker grades with all the sodomties, because i am at my best at the pub the night after the affair
  24. Roy

    Gtr V Lf-a

lol, YEH OK. The F40 and 288 GTO are obvious exceptions I wont lie nd say id rather a 959 over one, though i would love a 959....but they are simply not as angry. Both the LF-A and GTR are more 959 then unleashed F40
  25. Lets be honest here Adam. There are things that i will openly admit you can do better then me. Like punting a car around a race track, keeping your shit in check when ppl are trying to feck you up with shots, excelling after a night out at Dutton etc etc. But i bet if we sit down for a few drinks and exchange stories i have it on you when it comes to binning cars So let me have my tim in the sun....upside down with cruch ed roof and spilt fuel burning my skin and eyes
