I think twin 3" is way too much pipe and be droney as hell, not to mention very hard to package up tight in the underside of the car.

Cool, i am making your mind boggle Difference of opinions. LOL, seems you are driving your 3 series so you are perfectly happy up front. Maybe you need to ride up back more often

Meh, getting airborne over on the off ramp in a Gets at Geeling is more of a challenge

My greatest fear in life, is not handicapped children, hell their mine what chance have they got of being normal. Not going blind from all those hand feeds. Not the Federal Police finding my Meth amphet lab out the back ... but my glorious RB20 letting go in a quiet manner. What better departure then a hole in the block/bonnet, schrapnel in the driver's leg...complete with "fark you for making my last minutes on this earth so painful at 8,500rpm" stuff . But, going with no more then a mouses peep should not be held against the old steed. Really it is only fair, as it has been selfless in its service to you, so its momentary lapse and desire to go quietly must be respected.... A minutes silence please! So, from here we need a forged RB20 so we can hear that 6boost setup of yours at 9,500rpm. MORE NOISE PLEASE! Either that or just throw in the towel like me and take up ant farming, my little colony is coming along quite nicely, thanks for asking.

WRONG! LOL, they are far better then any Nissan Coupe etc, but have been in a long trip in a 3.2L 6 spd E36 M3, a 330CI (not the TT, around a 2004 model) and a convertible with the roof up because it was faking cold. A lot of my mates have BMWs, and one of my trips to Central Resport Skiing (yes plebs and pissheads go there but) and that was in an E36 318IS coupe. I know plenty about BMWs. Most of my closest friends own them, several race them and they forever tell me how good they are. You cant help but pick up things about them when all your mates are banker wankers For a bloke my size as often the often the token passenger in the back (drinkers out back, chicks up front ) i would much rather my mates have M5s or 4 doors A friend who has an M3 his dad has a supercharhed 535, that has pace and space. SO, i have most certainly been in the backs of too many. Perhaps you are right and smaller frame adults or kids woudl not have so much trouble. But i still think an RS4 or E63 would be the go for the family guy And yes the latest M3 is no normal 3 series, but it is a dressed up 3 series. Just as the RS4 is A4, the E63 a basic E series etc etc. They are far , far , far more developed then a HSV over Holden. But i was making a point. They are a derivative of a massed produced model Its all about what "individuals" want from a car. I would never own a Ferrari etc, i just dont like the flash and wank associated with them. Sure nice cars but not for me. Porsch maybe, TVR and Lotus. YES! Would never contemplate a new R35. But to others its a dream car. Cars mean different things to different ppl and want different things from their cars. If an Executive wants a big hp HSV as it doesnt have the "Bobby Beemer" tag etc then fair enough. I love M3s but couldnt personally own one. I beliee Audis are more me. To others a limited run HSV is more them, I cant see why some ppl are getting so upset about it. It comes down to demographic. Some ppl think they are defined by the car they drive and they are too good for a Holden. Others dont associate so much with a badge and like the local bang and flabour they deliver. I have to say, the local product are pretty involving, fin things to drive. Maybe not refined or sophisticated, but damn fun. To some that are not so concerned about badges that holds enough value. Heaven forbid there are those that think HSV is a brand name worthy of the money, the more they win on the track, perhaps the more merit that pride has? But i know as a young punk i wanted an SV5000

Turbo Manifold Stud Issues On Track Days Help!
Roy replied to LAGWAGON's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Stainless bolts and nuts are nto that great. Really stainless isnt that great a material, especially since they grow a lot with heat and they are nto all that strong in tensile strength. Yeh, OEM or inconel -
Rotor Upgrade With R33 Gtr Wheels
Roy replied to damuscat's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeh basically the larger rotor means larger heat sink. But here is the thing, just like a good 235/40/17 tyre will be worth the extra money over a cheap 235/40/17 as they are not all made equal. Well same thing with rotors. ome cool better then others, some are stronger then others, some are of lesser quality. Personally i think you would be better running something like a good quality 324mm Stoptech rotor ( UAS now stock them http://www.nismo.com.au/pricelists/pricelist_gtrbrakes.htm )over a DBA 343mm rotor meant for a HSV. The other beauty of the 324 rotor is that when money permits if you can scratch the dollars for soem GTR calipers then they are a pain free upgrade that work well with the rotor you have. (Personally, the money ppl ask for GTR Brembos you can get the superior 4 pot AP caliper (NEW) or F40/F50 caliper (USED) for similar money. So the bigger rotor gives you a larger heat sink so longer to heat up and larger rotor dissipates heat better so cool quicker. Also the larger rotor gives you increased braking torque which means the car has more front bias and braking power. Whilst i used the adaptor and std caliper for a long time, i think if you are buyign nice rotors then you should have a view of grabbing some suitable calipers sooner or later. Especially when with the R31 and S13 brigade there is a market for your old calipers -

Fair chance they will. They will fit under most Weds/Rays wheels so the GTR wheel is a decent enough thing -
Few Dyno Run Vids Of The New 26 And K5-660r
Roy replied to STATUS's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Count, dont go T04Z. Archie with the mint R32 GTR down here had one on his car. It made nice power and was very progressive. Didnt feel like a big single at all as it didnt hit like everyone woudl hve you believe. But it was a bit dull in the early to mid and didnt really come alive to 4,500-5,000rpm. He now runs twins dash 5 or 7s and couldnt be happier. So, stop farking around and stick with the combo you got, then grab a 20G for the S13 for some gate action Awesome work Trent. No doubt the Garrets are a good thing, but far too many people use them and often there is a great untried combination out there. 3 or 4 years ago there is no way people would let you even consider a plain bearing turbo, Greddy Turbo etc. But with results like this then its all food for thought. Now throw some PE low mount twins on, i want to know how they perform -
So Hamilton Snr cant drive and prangs a big dollar POrka and his son has lost his licence in France was it? Oh God no i may actually start to like them as here is two incidences where they have been human and havent played victim or blamed somebody else

sounds like me if i am missing corners As Ash said the 3040 is capable of 330-350rwkws which is going to take lots of boost and revs in an RB20. Even with the smaller exhaust housing its not going to have great transient response (throttle response) I would be inclined to try an external gate 3071 but probably a 3076. 3071 will be punchier then the 3076 but will not comfortably make over 260rwkws. 3076 will see you in the 280-300rwkw area which if the motor is rebuilt with pistons will do quite happily. Remembering the 3040 isnt a great turbo even on RB25s etc where over the years ppl have tended to steer clear of them and go 3076, so if an enbgine with 9.0:1 compression and an extra 500cc cant get the best out of the 3040 then the RB20 wont love it. That all said do a search for Legend01, he ran a 3040 on a std RB20 then a forged RB24 and quite liked it, so woudl copy the trim and spec 3040 he had Headwork can help make power, but at the same time get it wrong and it can cost you some low rpm velocity which again hurts response. I would stick with simple match porting and basic cleaning up casting imperfections. With regards to cams i would stick with std then after the setup is sorted maybe try the smallest Tomei Poncams (256 duration). This way you can see if they help, if so keep them , if not sell them for only a small $ loss. Personally if you already have the 3040 then sure keep it.

Sneak a bit of compression in there as well. And be careful not to put a larger duration cam in there only to choke it up with back pressure and small exhaust housing

With regards to which one is better i say the TD06 is about the best thing for a std RB20. A GT3071 is close, from there its really the bolt on convenience of a 2530 etc. So have to question whether the price of the greddy manifold, gate, turbo labour etc etc is worth the extra 30-40rwkws you will get. The 2530 will have a bit more grunt down low, but when i say a bit i mean a bit, you perhaps trade off 10-15 rwkws at 4,000rpm as the RB20 doesnt seem to want to make power below 4,300rpm no matter what turbo you put on it So which is better, hard to say, one is more expensive and very illegal, the other is cheaper and can scrape through a roadside inspection

Evo Brembos On A R32 Gtr
Roy replied to Dominic's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Dont do it Dane Depending on what you are paying for the EVO calipers you can grab some nice calipers with the weak yen and US dollar at present. Hell i still have stuff layign around that may be of use to you -
Also, be careful with the modelling. Are you allowing for the lateral loads, intertia, cyclic stresses, heat etc etc Also how do you propose to make them, machinging from a billet i suppose? A set of aftermarket rods are already cheaper then the price you will pay for the billet you require to make the things

Duncan , give these guys a call. http://www.dotmar.com.au/ I have purcahsed plenty of stuff off them over the years. They make all the splash covers for manifold arrangement we use in pharmaceutical clean rooms. They have several grades of Lexans, chemical resistant, some that can be bent others that cant, some that are stronger but more brittle etc etc. I am betting the grade we use would be perfect as it can be formed without becoming opaque is chemical resistant and washing it with a cotton cloth isnt going to scratch it like Lexan does Let me know how you go, back when i was working down the road from them in North Ryde i talked to them about it for my car (was never really going to do it, just talkign shit and dreaming ) and i got the "that would be easy" line from them
-
Ppl commenting on how he wasnt quite there for a few conrers, its a long bumpy track so dont believe anyone woudl ever do a perfect lap. Thing is in a car like the GTR with all the electronics you would be making less mistakes then you would in other cars.

I keep wanting to like the 350Z but i keep comign back to a new VE SS for the same money. The Zed is just too expansive to play with and get power from
