That aritcile says much the same thing about Vettel. You need to read the whole article, it was an intersting spin on how Horner and RBR are so very different in reacting, or more to the point not reacting to events within the team LOL, did you read this statement in your link ? "Webber’s disgust stemmed from the fact there had been a pre-race promise and so he had been taken by surprise by Vettel’s duplicity"

Nissan and about $10 a hit from memory

That is something that Jonathan Noble on Autosport has commented on.. "Red Bull played its part in creating how Vettel behaved on Sunday, for his actions were not those of a disgruntled driver fed up with constantly being crushed. This was a man who has thrived, and become so central to the team that the line between his interests and those of the team have become completely blurred."

A Boy's Love For His Rb20

I think its the exhaust back pressure at high rpm, cam timing and cams...a little bit of everything. The RB20 actually makes more power as the new engine falls over after 6,500rpm So will try new turbo with bigger housing, going for the 12cm2, cam gears, cams etc and I am pretty sure will find a bucket load of top end. Will throw the 20G back on to compare to see if the billet turbo is any better. I think the 20G could be a good thing if we can get it breathing up top and get it to hold onto power. A solid 4,000rpm range of 300 odd rwkws would be pretty solid result The 12cm housing shall at least enable me to flow plenty and see what the compressors will flow Yes, the character of the 2L is more fun. Will be interesting to see how is goes for traction at the track when driving in anger -
I would put money on the fact that Lewis would push his luck to the point that it would be detrimental to his own result if he didnt have very strong people on the pit wall

They do fit R32s no problem so probably were tailored for the R32 -
If you are not having problems with them then I guess there is no reason to change. I use std Nissan as after about 3,000kms there is always a reduction in oil pressure in my engine when using the Ryco and the other Autobarn etc filters. With the std Nissan the oil pressure barely changes to the point that I only really change them every 10,000kms. I have tried the K&N and other exotic $20 jobbies and cant tell the difference between Nissan OE. The NIssan filters are also cheaper...thats important to me

I agree that Lewis was lucky to have them pull rank as he was far more wounded it seems for pace then Rosberg, But the thing to consider was they did have a good dice and Lewis fought back re-overtaking for what...two laps? So they were allowed to have a play...and then it seems Brawn jumped on air and said enough suspecting as you would that lewis woudl try and hunt down Rosberg and chase him and very well be a dnf for fuel. I can see Lewis pushign too hard despite being low on fuel ...so can understand why they did it. I dont like it but understand it. Like RBR, I understand it, I dont like it ...especially as one played ball and the other didnt.

Take the car to someone that knows the tricks of the old girls. Otherwise some mechanics may try to tell you the sky is falling for something rather simple. As others have said there is nothing obvious that would suggest a miss and tapping noise is a problem. Thyere is a 30-50% chance its just a tired coil pack and the engine is a high km engine that hasnt always had good servicing and oil put through it. How long have you had it and what is the history of the car. The gooid news is that they eat up high kms, take a hell of a lot of abuse and you dont harm the average engine.

Thanks...how bitey are the PMU pads? I have not used them and not having ABS was concerned they woudl be too grabby

But there is nothing up top! Doing track work and only suign 4,000- 6,500 is pretty crap. Would rather 5,000-8,500. The NA cams are probably not great for power so will look at using the RB20DET cams or more likely my 256 Poncams -
Bin Ryco oil filter and only use genuine Nissan. Put 10W-60 Castrol Edge in it and I am pretty sure that your problems will go away. Wouldnt hurt to put some diesel oil in it for 500kms then dump it and put good oil in. Basically diesel oil has a high level of detergeants in it so can help clean gunk and build up out of the oil. Noisey lifter coul dbe just a sign of things getting abit glunked up in there. I used to put a high detergeant flush through my oil system every 12-18 months. Never seemed to hurt and helped keep the engine clean. Probably overkill but since I did track work and got the oil pretty damn hot...i used to just do it as housekeeping

I hate myself But, the cheapest way I could get the car back on the road ready for a track day was to use a spare engine that was laying around. I grabbed this engine cheap years ago as it was cheap and externally looks like an R32 RB20. Thinking was if I ever get defected then I would put it in with a 2.8L kit and run an XR6 GT35R bolted onto std manifold for legal thrills to clear defects and be stress free I am going to strip down the lil 20 over the coming weeks and see if it was just a headgasket and if the head and block come back crack free going to slap it back together with a refresh and get some more exprience with building engines. Then the abomination that sits between my strut towers at present can come out and be sold. Should be easier to sell now that I have had it running and it looks to be a good engine and potential buyer can hear, see and even drive it before removal I can already tell you I dopnt like the character of the car. It has way more power down low that makes it spritely on the street...but feels flat. People can say it maky be quicker but doesnt have any character or top end pull that the 20 had:( LOL time for a bigger turbo to get some lag back -
How long have you had the car for? Did you actually check oil level ? When as the car last serviced? Could be related, may not be. The tapping noise is a bigger worry then what the oil pressure gauge is telling you
-
But also ask the obvious questions too like: - When was it last serviced? - What oil and filter do you use? I only use Castrol Edge 10W60 and I was unable to kill a 20 bottom end. Also, only use Nissan filters. There is a big difference in the pressure drop and performance of many cheap aftermarket-repalcemetn filters. I always got better pressure with the Nissan filters. I am pretty sure the std oil pressure gauge is just a Bosch unit so are cheap to replace. I put a tee into the block and run the std oil pressure gauge to the dash and the second tapping is for my aftermarket oil pressure sensor that is hooked up to my data logger.

I think I may just throw the T67 on ... I really want to try the billet wheel but perhaps I am best to grab a 12cm housing for the T67 and compare like for like with the 10cm I have for it. The Kando housings are only $150 so could be a goer if it continues to be all too hard...lol all i want to do is decide on a turbo then havea fire sale to get rid of one day-what if parts

If anyone has full access to Autosport there is an interesting article that sizes things up pretty well... "Vettel: the monster Red Bull created"

Hks Rb25 Exhaust Manifold , Worth It ?
Roy replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Oh I will add whilst there are no direct comparisons that I know of. There are loads of 6boost vs std results to show that std is sh1t house. There are a few flow bench results of HKS v 6boost that show the HKS is a very good thing...so just use it or send me your bank details...as I should never had sold mine to Wolverine -

So the new engine hits about 18psi at about 3,600rpm. Has loads more power at 4,000rpm but around 5,200rpm the RB20 basically matches it. So curious to see how the cams, cam gears and a full tune at more boost does -
How did the brakes go? Did you run the kinda surprise pads? Also need your advice on the T67 you were running in your RB25. Did the thing give any hint that the 10cm housing was a little too small? What thoughts do you have on going to a 12cm housing on a T67?
-
Yep, my manifold is 3 bolt. Anyone run a 12cm housing with a T67 their RB25 or RB26? Looking at an equivalency chart the 12cm is meant to be 0.89AR vs the 10cm 0.73AR Also, just discovered there is a 12 blade 65mm TD06 and an 11 blade 65mm TD06. Having just got off the phone with the US the 11blade 65mm TD06 flows more than the 61mm L2...hence why they prefer the 11blade 65mm turbine on the larger, higher flowing billet wheels. LOL, who knows. Seems none of my 10cm housings match my old 20G or my new billet turbo so guess I will just grab a 12cm. At least I will get an idea of what the compressor will flow with the larger housing and will have to keep an eye out for a 3 bolt 10cm housing in the future. So it seems the best we can tell is that the T67s off this particular GTR I was playing swapsies with were all 65mm turbines ...so will have to have a measure with some verniers over the weekend just to be sure. LOL, the joys of using left over hand me down parts in a build.
-
I was going to compare the 20G compressor with the 25G as well but I need a 10cm housing for my current TD06 to do that. I have a 10cm housing for my T67 and TD06-25G but not the 20G. I am curious to see the difference the bigger turbine makes to the power and response of the 25G compressor. But fankly if I get to that point then its not a good sign as I dont want to be paying for that much tuning and messing with it then I am still not happy with any of them...then it gets very expensive
