Oil Cooler Hose Installation
Mr. Untouchable replied to boostn0199's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
boostn, yes I think your diagram looks correct. and the one below, thats a thermostated setup, which runs the fourth line I think. The basic non thermosated kits only run the 3, as far as i know anyway. -
loving the build mate, bloody awesome. I'm a fan of that wing - badass.

speak of the devil, saw you again today on main rd in good ol 'norchy. flush pins on the front looks nice on the red. looking good

bit of a delay in the actually spotto, but anyhow, spotted a really clean Red wine 32 GTR about 2 months ago on the brooker, enkei wheels on it i think in a bright but dull silver finish, it had been resprayed (could tell by the peel), but was done well by the looks of it. noisy pads in it and plates were C something so hasnt been here that long i'd say. looked like a genuine low K car and had a young blonde lass behind the wheel. RESPEK

well, actually its a bit of a lie because part of the info came from someone I know who is a regular track warrior in nsw. the diamensions/surface area etc and how much the splitter protrudes past the bar etc but what I was told looked to be very very simular to what I saw on nunn's and sheriff's cars - well proven beasties however, I didnt bust out the measuring tape and spirit level lol, otherwise I may have had a race boot lodged up my arse. I know that some of the cars I have seen on the mainland run a small lip, gurney flap type thing at the front of the splitter and the splitter appears to be paralell with the ground apart from that, and I recall one of the 32's down here have a simular design, not 100% sure tho. because ally is flexible, and the way i intend to mount it (at the rear), i'm hoping to be able to adjust the angle quite easily. also, the turnbuckles actaully do have adjustment on the front, around 10mm actually so I will have a few options to play with. at the moment, the car is undergoing other tweaks (bilsteins instead of shitheap Teins, different sway bars, few odd things here and there), so I will maybe wait till I have a fresh set of semi's on it once i've stopped playing with the rest and i'll spend a day or 5 playing with angles and also rear wing angles/gurney flap. At the end of the day its trial and error I guess the rules remain the same but every car is different but hey thats the fun of datsun ownership =D really, its not like i'm setting out to win superlap or anything lol, its just a bit of fun and if i feel improvments and I can go faster then yay, if not oh well. keep trying haha

Mate I'm only going on what I have heard in the pits at super series rounds. I didnt think it could make THAT much of a difference but apparently it does. Some interesting chat at the last round about splitters and rear wings. I'll report back here when I've givin it a lash.

Thanks wogboy. yes my plan is to tig or bolt two brackets at the back of the splitter and run some straps up around the sway bar with a 10mm thick anti vibration foam stuck to the splitter below the K frame. that way i can pull it up tight and if i run the straps I have here they have clips so they can be quick release should i want to get the bar off easily. I dont really want to mount it solid at the rear but I will if i have to. ohhh I'm all splittered out atm lol.

Hi guys. Thought I'd post up a few pics of my front bar repair/mod progress. My front bar had a few decent cracks and had a fair size chuck missing on the lower front left hand corner so i went hell for leather with the glass. i chopped the bottom of the bar off level as the bar was lowest at the rear so it would of made the splitter sit up at a nasty angle. I've used ally sheet as the splitter itself. its 700mm deep and protrudes past the bar 5 inchs in the middle and just over 4 at the corners fadding back to inch at the sides. the ally is bolted to the bar in the middle and at the rear corners and i have just test fitted the 4 turnbuckle braces also. just finished buzzing back the paint on the major surfaces and i have scotched the rest of it and i have put a light dust coat of etch over it as guide coat really, going to rub it down now with 400 ready for 3-4 coats of primer. not going to be crazy fussy as its more of a prototype, looking forward to getting it on the car and eventually I'll buy a new bar and go again. I've basically tried to replicate what is on Peter Nunn & Brad Sheriff's R32's. cheers

I'd have a crack mate but my car is not ready, got coilovers half out and new ones lying about and still messing with my bar/splitter.

My R32 Gtr Vspec1 Project Car
Mr. Untouchable replied to trustr32's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
the car drives really well, lots of potential! and although it was "cheap" it was 10 times the car, or cars the other dozen or so 20 plus k GTR's were. Man there is some shitboxes around. the car is rust free, front skirts rad. sup. panel etc is perfect, rails, all perfect. its had minor repairs, but overall is in very good order. its had a shit respray, but no probs, because if it was 99% perfect we'd still paint strip it and start again lol. basically, the chassis/shell was good and the car was complete, and its a genuine V Spec I, what more can you ask for for 12k? gearbox and diffs feel really good. Rebuild, respray, interior makeover and a cage, bigger stoppers and some better suspension and its going to be a very good example. -
Nascar rules! (already wearing my flame suit!) rather watch super taxi's and nascar over F1.... =D and I think V8's in the states seems like a ok idea, but the fact its going to be taken away from tassie, uhh they are talking what, singapore, texas, already in the middle east, china? NZ. its almost not australian touring cars anymore is it? or am i wrong? and I know they have stickers for headlamps etc, and they are made from sheet metal, much like a letterbox, but atleast nascar has more than 2 manafacturers! chevrolet, Ford, dodge, toyota. sticker or not, would love to see more than poxy holden and ford.

Yes mate. big Sard or origin jobbie.

ohhh sounds like a scam lol. Last fibreglass bar i worked on was Pisko's 350z bar after he stacked it at symmons. I'm still trying to get rid of the glass splinters haha. I'm not a fan but i need a whoop ass splitter, Mr Plow spec and its not going to build itself =)
-
haha nothing too fancy mate, going for a bit of a industrial look. I'm actually making up something very simular to Brad sheriff's, and Peter Nunns. except i'm going to run 4 adjustable turnbuckle braces from the front coming down. I'll post up pics when I'm done
-
Well today I got stuck into hacking up my front bar, and picked up a huge ass sheet of 2mm aluminium to make my splitter up. ordered some nice adjustable turnbuckles out of the states. gonna have to wait a week or two for those babies to arrive but that gives me time to repair the rest of the bar and start prepping for primer. also have some bilsteins to replace my knarley old Tein HR's. so the Ol' dusty datsun is seeing a bit fo love atm.

Oi, ease up. Bov battles are like the war on terror, they never die hahah lol. each to their own, at the end of the day who give a rats ass how someone else's car is set up? I personally Run GTR Bov's all plumbed back, nice and smooth. I've also run atmo and No bov at all. But I have my opinion about them, and i keep it to myself unless asked. I also think wheels should only come in black, cars should be white grey or black and stereo's are for faggots. but they are my opinions, much like diseases at iso bar, everyone has a few.

64 is still a decent effort. But gives you something to aim at and improve on. I'm hoping to get into the 61 maybe high 60 second bracket next time out, but going to have to spend a few G's first and do some tweaking. the fun is self improvement tho, car and your own ability.

so the magic time wasssss?

just so people know, I contacted KING's about making me custom items, and they said its no problems. I asked about some 7kg front and 5kg's rears in standard spring design to suit bilstein shocks with circlip height adjustment and I think it was $300 per pair, and 12-15 days as they are made to order. This is the way I'm going to go. cheers
