The caliper bolt just broke undoing it. Perghaps it was seized a bit. Nothing to do with the jack stands!

I had a bunch of dramas today including a snapped caliper bolt FFS!! Details later, including how to fix! Still have to pack the car for tomorrows sprints at OPGP and i am rooted.

Some of the bolts and plastic clips are getting a bit worn, so i had to source some (for the various covers atc under the car) thought i better do it whilst they are all off the car now. This is what seems to work (see pics also): M8 x 16mm M6 x 25mm I picked up some high tensile ones as that is all i could find, however i am sure you can get some regular ones cheaper. The bolts are about $4~$5 for a box or 5 or 10. I noticed some of the OEM bolt heads were a bit scratched up and i couldnt use the socket on them (too damaged) so perhaps the high tensile ones wont disentegrate so easily? i dunno we'll see. I sourced the bolts from Supercheap (i guess you can get them almost anywhere) and the plastic clips (not sure what they are called!) from JustJap in Sydney.

Thanks Gibbo! Not finished though! still got a bit to get through before the first round this sunday, going to tackle these tonight... Yes, have a stripped stud or two AGAIN as well plus new j-jooks and pads
  5. Gibbo, i really don't know. However i doubt it comes with a tune you should be happy to run full time (without going through with a custom tune). I think the Haltech is definitely intended for people wanting to do a full custom tune. I'll put a price out there, $3000, anyone?

It's the Willall Titanium exhaust. Havent had the car off the stands yet!
  9. I am not chasing $4000, will take less. Anyone interest please send a PM, you might get a bargain!
  10. I have for sale an unsed (new in box) Platinum Pro programmable ECU for GTR R35, which i just received. I was given this as payment for helping out (lending haltech my car for a period some time ago). I have no use for it now (been using a Cobb for some time, and i do not have the time nor motivation to switch engine computers right now). Details on the product here: http://www.haltech.com.au/index.php?option...4&Itemid=83 I think these retail for about $4000AU? Dunno what the street price is. If you are interested in one of these for your R35 send me your offer via PM. cheers
  11. Munro people just dont get that. IMO warranty + track cars do not mix. It's foolish to think it can i reckon. I'm not sure Nissan actually get it either. They've tried to put this complicated wrapper around the whole track car thing (pre/post track inspections, paranoid fluid swaps, policies like swapping out ALL rotors and pads even if just pads are cracked, etc etc etc). Heck even thrashed big dollar GT cars arent maintained like that (take a close look at their brakes... lol). In two years time when warranty doesnt exist what will people do anyway?

I am going with AP rotors and some Hawk pads. No great science/research on my part i am just going on a recommendation from a friend who is around brakes + race cars as his job. See how it goes i guess.

I already mentioned you should use the floorjack as a backup on the front or back. What kills people in this situation is... no backup / SINGLE point of failure. 100% of the time.

Just new rotors + pads all round.
  15. Anyone know where i can get some M12 x 1.25mm x (say) 75mm wheel studs to suit a GTR? Prefer ARP or some sort of high tensile variety

I am doing brakes too so took the wheels off. I think you could do it with the wheels on if you wanted to.

Good point, but I think they are fine, all I am really worried about is it falling on me whilst working under the car itself (!). It's a good idea to use the floor jack too, under the central jack points (front or rear) if you are working under the car. That way you aren't depending on just one stand/point alone.
  18. Oops sorry, i should learnn to read first...
  19. wow, 1577kegs, so 200 less than stocker?

I think you can buy them at most caravan dealerships (the mini-ramps) believe it or not. Otherwise a block of wood might do instead.

replacing most fluids (pretty hard to get to front diff!), installing new titanium exhaust (*in pic), some new diffuser blades, some carbon fibre intake snorkels, and a few other things. yep there are heaps of covers under there, took my an hour or more to screw around getting them all off, half the battle. pita. the creeper makes things a LOT easier too.

OK, so time to get ready for the first round of the Sprints next week, thought i better pull thumb out of my bung hole and get a few things done to the R35. I've primarily made an effort to host these pics for the USA guys (who may be a bit aprehensive of playing with their GTR) not to mention pulling bits off / replacing bits etc.... So here we go, let's get some maintenance underway... we need the car up on stands,,, lets get this big bitchola up in the air... Using trusty "mini-ramps" (thanks Dave) lift the front end... Once the front end is lifted with the mini-ramps, get your floor jack under the front jack point (right behind the oil train port as per below.. Lift that sucker way up, ready for your stands... Position your jack stands at the side jack points, left and right (fronts) You may need to bring the car down slowly to make sure you have the jack stands positioned properly. You want to end up with something like this.. Now with both left and right (front) in the air, get your jack stand positioned under the rear centre jack point (just under the rear transaxle) such: Lift the GTR up, position the jack stands just like at the front and lower slowly until you have it all positioned correctly on the rear jack points.. You should end up with something like this, ready for some well due maintenance.. I've found this is the best way to go about it, assuming you are doing this in your own garage. Now.. let the games (and skinned knuckles) begin.. So... moral or the story is, give it a go,, it's just a car after all, and fark the warranty, fark it right in the eye with a blunt dick i say. (more to follow)
  25. those seats look awesome. well done.
