  1. Hopefully it doesnt take too long to get fixed! it does sound strange.
  2. wow. amazing when you consider how much punishment some of us give our cars and nil issues, now we have someone who apparently babies their car and this.... strange. so what is the nature of this "catastrophic" failure? and are they sure it actually is? if there is no local (nissan) expertise (in pulling the boxes arart) then perhaps it is a trivial issue, dirty soleniod or something, and they are just replacing the box because they don't know where to begin?
  3. havent fitted it yet so no idea on sound. Martin?
  4. I think a V10 R8 would be close to $400k on the road.
  5. I really dont know anything about exhaust design either. The dual tip thing seems to be close to the stocker setup so meh? I'm not doing this for extra engine performance really. Anyway the thing that strikes me to be frank is the weight saving
  6. Some of you know i am on a bit of a mission to save weight... from the car (and the gut) but more importantly, and easier, from the car. Willall Racing sent this beaut bit of gear through last week... I couldnt believe how lightweight it is, so i asked my 3 year old... Fair dinkum there's no weight in this thing, as you can see above.... Thanks Martin.

    Unfortunately they dont have one.

    R35 Bootlid

Anyone know where i may be able to get a 2nd hand R35 bootlid? I want one for mounting a big wing on (and i would rather keep the factory bootlid/wing intact). Nissan Australia want about $3000 for a plain lid (with no hardware) which quite frankly is stupid. I would rather not go down the carbon path, as you need to reinforce them (for the wing) which i think is a pain. May be the only option however. It's a long shot but anyone got an idea on where i can (a stocker) R35 bootlid?
  9. some cars are more enthraling/engaging out of the box though. Personally i think even a 6.2l commodore in manual is a lot of fun on the street, even in stock form. you can just use much more of what the car has to offer. it's boofy, noisy, torquey, brash. it just depends on your priorities, everyone is different.
  10. Look, it's always going to be a relatively "boring" road car. To be frank most road going 35 experiences are like going to the strip club (vs doing the ACTUAL wild thing). The level and breadth of excitement offered by the "on-track" experience will seriously question any enjoyment you thought was possible on the street. If you dont care about white knuckle track stuff, look elsewhere i reckon. The fact the r35 can get you to the track (and back) in legal comfort is a huge bonus, and most of the point. If that doesnt appeal, teh r35 probably isnt for you.

    Roof Plastic Seal

No it's not a service. I think it's a checkup at 2000km. I dont think they replace any fluids; they just check the wheel alignment and perhaps gearbox clutch settings. And generally make sure it hasnt fallen apart.
  12. my $0.02 is: if you are interested in lap times (from a stock or near stock car) the R35 is a weapon, buy it! If you don't really care for lap times, look elsewhere. Simple as that i reckon. At least it is for me.
  13. those pipes look schmick re the pads, i think i will try the mx72's next time around (i already had the hawk pads so better use them). I will be interested to hear about how the 3000's go, please let us know.
  14. Snowy, got a willall exhaust coming, carbon intake pods, carbon diffuser blades, j-hook rotors & hawks pads, and carbon/kevlar supertaxi seat plus aeromotions active wing. oh, and a garage full of 2nd hand slicks! ffs don't tell my wife.

    Roof Plastic Seal

dunno if this is of any help (probably just confuses matters) but after i had my windscreen replaced. that panel was then out of alignment (sticking up a bit) - apparently that panel has to come out to change the screen. I just put it down to them not re-installing it properly. or perhaps they bent it a bit when pulling it all apart. I can take a pic if that helps?
  16. its a good point. How many of you have watched the torque split screen when driving agressively or on the track, and what did you conclude?
  17. The r35 gearbox is a good thing true. It's a big part of what makes the car quick, yet is the achilies heal in some respects. You're not going to see any GTR win a 12 hour i reckon.... Launch control, meh, is far from perfect believe me (rather moody) and makes no difference on the nurburgring obviously. Dashboard stuff is curious/interesting yet a waste of time really; will not make you 1/100th quicker on the circuit. If you have time to look at that stuff you're not going quick enough. Fuel/timing etc are just a given, no great magic there really, dial in the optimal mix and it's a done deal. Important to get it right but not space shuttle stuff. The R35 is primarily quick due to: 1. Tyres/grip (you can get decent sized rubber under there) 2. Gearbox (instant cog swaps, mid corner without upsetting balance) 3. Great balance/handling for an OEM package 4. Power - gobs of! ESP is just going to slow you down. At least the factory calibration will anyway..
  18. got some news for you blokes who think the R35 electronics make it quicker. - they dont. turn that stuff off; you'll go quicker.
  19. Thanks for the video, very interesting. Advan slicks hey... they look pretty much the same size that Martin, Marek and myself are running (18's too?). The car seemed a bit unstable under brakes? Maybe is was pushing really hard. Running aftermarket brakes and coilovers too.
  20. I source the slicks from a guy who has contacts from the GT and porsche cup boys.
  21. I usually have a baby seat in the back of my R35. We do have another car for family duties but there are times when i need to transport the kids around too. Mum can't do it all by herself, all the time. The alternative (two seater) means i would need yet another car - i have done that before (three cars) and frankly i think it's ridiculous.
  22. I really dont know anything about the demands of tarmac rallies (they scare the bejesus out of me btw!!) so i couldnt say, sorry mate. There are a few people on here who can help though, i am sure.
  23. I am running Carbotech XP12's with AP Rotors Marek is running Endless MX72's and AP Rotors. I've had a quick drive in Mareks car and the MX72's feel better to me. I will not be buying the carbotechs again... I am very impressed with how much the endless pads look after Mareks discs too - they still look like new after two track days.
  24. here's a vid, chasing Marek. For some reason he seems to have more punch out of turns... maybe Martin has fixed me up!
  25. ha ha.... i'll take it. time will tell.
