GGTTRR and I were at Wakefield Park today testing out the new Willall R35 tune, in addition to some Michelin and Dunlop slicks (2nd hand)... Cars both run a mid pipe, tune, slicks and aftermarket rotors/pads ONLY.... Result: Marek ran a 1:03.79 I ran a 1:04.00 I can't believe how quick these cars are, it's insane for a car driven to the track (in leather clad and aircon comfort) with essentially minimal mods. I can only fathom what these cars are capable of with some serious setup. You have to remember these cars weigh 1750kg.... Congrats Marek, great driving man.

he was just driving with one eye in the rear view mirror!

the xp12's have great bite. i've been running them for a few months. after some easy road k's they will squeal like a p i g it's embarrassing. i usually swap in a set of ds2500's for the road. sorry but i think they are going to drive you nuts. pretty good for the track though. why not enter the NSW supersprint at OP, January 17? just a thought.

by 'clinical' they mean exceeding competent without raising a sweat. and thus non-engaging / boring. But... that assessment will only come from those driving 8/10ths or less; ie. soft cocks.

in a sense i think it's actually a positive thing that the GTR and R8 tied. If it won outright, it would almost fly above the radar because "the GTR won another award". The fact it tied basically crystalises - hey, this nissan really is just as good versus the best that germany has to offer - and at HALF the price (or less!). very cool.

Really sorry to hear R35 owners are being treated like this. This is the third such case i have heard about like this. It is totally unacceptable. $12k is just insane. And i thought $8k was excessive.... For god sakes DO NOT FALL FOR IT. It's BS, regardless if the Nissan tech believes it or not. Just buy some aftermarket pads. If you want something close to stock, get some Ferodo DS2500's for about $800 a set, or about $450 for fronts. A few hundred more can get you track focused pads. Any mechanic can change them, it will take them about half an hour. If you want to talk about it, send me a PM. They can't see them voiding your drivetrain warranty if you use aftermarket pads. Don't do it man, dont pay $12k for this, it's a SCAM.

finally some real feedback, thanks Snowy. Anyone tried them on a racetrack/circuit yet?
-
Sounds great and should look good too! Congrats.

We've got a few sets of tyres now for the 2010 season! Including RE55's, Dunlop and Michelin slicks. Can't wait t see how the Dunlops go, should heat up quicker and be good for the sprints
-
Nice car, congrats!
-
Maybe, but seemed to think you could buy a v8 for the raod (and asked which one mine was!). Lame.
-
Thanks for the link! Yes the ADM cars have heated seats (and about as useful as tits on a bull too). At least the Premium cars do.
-
thread mining.. so has anyone gone through this process recently? (putting aftermarket seats in their R35) if so what solution did you go with?

319km/hr is just insane. well done on the lap time, awesome.

Some of you may remember this shootout. An R35, with apparently $50k in mods, ran a 46.7 around Oran Park South. It was running the stocker bridgestone tyres. I think it was John Bowe driving. Compared to a 911T running 888's (46.5) and a GT2 running Hoosier A6's - which are essentially slicks, running the best time of 46.2.... ALL cars had various mods. The tyre thing gave me the shits though (i mean really, a GT2 on slicks vs an R35 on stocker bridgestones). Anyway, i had a chance to run Oran Park South in my R35 with slicks recently.... Result=46.3 Now, i dont have $50k in mods, and i am not John Bowe. I have less than $10k in mods (Willall midpipe, tune, 18" wheels and tyres). In fact, it's about $5k really, as i was using cheapie 2nd hand slicks on the day. Michelin p-cup 270/68/18's. What does this tell us? a) The GTR is one awesome machine, proven capable and comparable to the 911T and GT2 at a fraction of the cost. b) You dont need to spend $50k on mods, in fact you'll probably make it go slower (if done merely for bling factor) c) For track excursions, the No.1 most important mod is... TYRES.

Well the silence on the USA forums about this is deafening... the odd review that comes out shows there is no improvement running the 888's (except for the ocassional knob who reckons they run fantasic.. with extra lateral grip etc et etc... then you find out it's a review running on the street... ffs). One guy has compared the 888's to the Bridgestones recently (at the track) and has not found any lap time. So thus far, 888's are more expensive than stockers, and i reckon on par if not slower than the Dunlops. As per all of the above.

i think LCT is applied over the threshold (dunno if it's still $57k?) so not quite, no.

I think the whole VDC off thing (somehow causing damage and having warranty implications) is a bit of a furfy, surely. Think about it, wouldnt modulating the drivetrain (on-off-on-off) cause more drivetrain shock then just letting it spin freely? And yeah, the whole "turn VDC off and your warranty is toast" idea is just untrue. It's amazing how many misconceptions are out there with this car. I've given up trying to correct people when they expouse their GTR wisdom. One guy recently asked me if my 35 was the V6 or V8 version. I just told him V6. He went to some lengths to tell me the Jap version is V8... I just didnt bother. Anyway havent they revised the whole VDC off policy for the UK cars?
-
Wow, sounds like you guys had a blast. Well done I look forward to the video and so e pics!
-
It;s not the intent. Sorry if you see it that way. I know a few guys who've bought very expensive cars (some north of $500k) and i am 100% convinced they CBF buying grey imports to save money (let alone one with Jap screens and no local support). They just wouldnt entertain the idea. I can understand why some people think that's nuts, or a waste of money though.

I see what you're saying but the average $175k car buyer probably isnt concerned about that $50k. Not trying to sound arrogant but if you were to scale it to a regular car purchase you're talking about the difference between $30k to $40k car, of which most people dont really care that much, they jus buy whatever they like more and/or is convenient and/or whatever has the best finance deal. FWIW i know of people buying ADM cars simply so they can get parts for JDM ones. Nissan Australia don't want to know about JDM cars. I've had to buy some trivial R35 parts and i can tell you they go to some length to verify the parts are intended for an ADM. Having said all that all you really need to do is find a friend with an ADM and use their VIN.
