  1. By Japan do you mean the usual suspects (Greenline, Nengun etc) or is there someone who does Nissan bits in particular. It's just that I wanted a new one & like you said second hand ones can sometimes be very second hand.
  2. Cheers Ant. You up for the SES Short circuit on the long weekend?
  3. Work computer. But I probably should have paid attention at school too. For me the biggest difference was new dampers. Just a different world. Sway bars weren't that huge for me.
  4. Um, as per the title. Any suggestions for the best place to buy a standard R32 GT-R steering wheel? I want a new one. thanks in advance.
  5. The thing that caught my eye was that he was talking about track days once a month. That sort of regime will punish the tyres much harder on the track than on the road. Hence the suggestion of doing the camber first. Edit: gees, I wish I could spell.
  6. You could try some proper end joints....
  7. Like you say a bleed valve doesn't help, but it shouldn't make that much difference. First suspect is the extra crap on the vacuum lines. Plug it/pinch it off and or remove it - then have another check. Other things are: Your ignition timing. Your fuelling. That the waste gates are closing properly. Cam timing.
  8. Can anyone help by offering a known good method of removing the stupid wind deflector/rain deflector things on top of the front windows on a Skyline? I am not so much worried about the things themselves as by the goo that holds them to the bodywork.

    Welding 101

For anyone starting - Mig welding is a damn ssite easier than tig & a bit easier than stick. It is also more forgiving of fitup & easier to get good, solid weld penetration.
  10. Well both, really. You can get them already pre-made to suit your car or get them made up special if you want something special.
  11. Looks like BMW may be set or a good year, too.
  12. The other thing to be a bit careful of is this. Japanese helmets don't necessarily come in large sizes. Mine is a XXL & up till buying it I hadn't thought of my head as being particularly fat. Just something to be aware of if you local vendor doesn't stock the full range. I had to go back twice before getting through the range of three sizes.
  13. I may be off beam a bit with this, but from what I understand a single throttle body makes it easier to run an ECU with no AFM's ie on a MAP sensor.
  14. It's all good then. Actually I never realised anyone even read the dribble that pours footh from my keyboard, let alone placed any store in it. You going to the SpeedEventSeries next month?
  15. Um Scott, in case your missed it, O'Hara is a mate of mine & the sledging is all done in good humour. So please relax. I'm sure he would be happy to take up your offer of a drive. He entered the khana because he hasn't had much motorsport since he sold his Mazda & probably won't until he finishes building his GT40. Lastly, I never said I was or could do any better. The phrase "talks a good lap" should be taken to mean "can't drive a good lap."
  16. Use the search button. This is very common. Just plug ATTESSA into the thing & stretch the days out to about 180 & be amazed by the amount of discussion about it...
  17. Thanks Baron, that champion. If they do have 'em could you ask what the spring rates are?
  18. So what you saying Roy? They are slow, but atleast the are unreliable. Sounds like me, really.
  19. It's all good Norbert. I have no bone to pick with him. The rate he is going with his GT40 he will need to keep in practice with the Commode! As for me showing anyone how it is done, well I can talk a good lap.... Edit: Post fixed to prevent any further misunderstandings.
  20. Could I ask someone to ask a question, by proxy if you will. Japanese suppliers quote the following part number Bils-BPS-8641-268 for an all singing, all dancing set of Bilstein coilovers with adjustable damping to suit an R32 GT-R. Yet my local Bilstein distributor denies that such a thing exists. On the assumption that Heasmans are more competent could I trouble someone to ask the question? http://store.yahoo.co.jp/mudjayson/bps-jpn4.html
  21. Not all Arai's are bike helmets. Some are just for cars. So best bet is to go shopping at somewhere like Revolution instead of the local Honda store.
  22. The VN V8. Trust me I know the bloke concerned. I even mistakenly let him drive my car once. How much did O'Hara have to pay you to write that, Norbert? On the off chance he reads this the world should know he couldn't drive out of sight on a dark night. Anyway he was too damn lazy even to take the roo bar off the thing. Have some more emoticons O'Hara.
  23. Slightly squashed chassis rails are very common on Nissans. I wouldn't be worry about it much if at all.
  24. No. In fact it is a truism for almost all cars heading out onto a circuit. To be properly balanced you don't want much steering lock through the corner. Any more than about a quarter on a GT-R & it is an ugly thing. With this relatively small amount of lock you really need ALOT of caster to make a difference. R32 GT-R's only have 3 degrees. Going to 4 or 5 makes the steering heavier & more self centring (Which is why drift nuggets love caster) but really doesn't do much for your grip. It is one of those things that if fine as far as it goes, but is secondary to other, more important parameters, ie camber.
  25. Australian Grand Prix champion Fernando Alonso says he does not yet have a car capable of winning next month's season-opening Formula One race at Albert Park. Despite setting the pace in testing at both Jerez last week and in Barcelona this week, Alonso says he is concerned about the car's performance. The Spanish reigning world champion says at the moment the MP4-22 looks better than it goes. "The times have turned out well and everyone is aware of us but the car is not ready for Australia and the days are running out," Alonso told Spain's Telecinco television channel. "It is not going to win at the moment. For the time being the thing I like most about it is the colour." "At the moment the handling isn't right, it needs more traction and more power," Alonso said before the Barcelona test. Oh, dear.
