  6. Water % Percentage of water found in sample given as a percentage of total volume. Moisture is common in short trip vehicles that don’t fully get the oil up to operating temperature long enough. It generally takes 10-15 minutes for the oil to get to this temperature, which is enough to start evaporating the moisture in the sample. The same goes for fuel in your sample too. Water comes from the atmosphere and the combustion of fuel, one of the byproducts of fuel burning is water, sounds silly but its true, a forged motor will breath heavier until it has come up to temp and allow more contaminants to get past the rings. Same with higher boost, there are some good research papers on this in the interwebs. And E85 will produce even more moisture. Ill look for some linkys on this later IICBA

Oil that just sits in catch can will accumulate all the moisture in the system due to it only staying warm enough the attract moisture and will turn to crud, but if it drains back to the sump from the catch the moisture will be cooked off in the hot oil, my can has been returning to the sump for a couple of years now with no ill effect The vents on top of the catch can allows any moisture in the system to get out.   9. I got it because it was thin, it has better flow than the thicker stuff, and I found how it bends easy was a good thing as you can easily form it and shape it around corners.

I wanted go go for a month or so (mainly for the fishing) but 17 wanted SME to pay for me, SME said that if 17 wants their assest they would need to pay, 17 had a sook and said they couldnt afford to pay, hence Im still in Sydney, Ha, look at them now, undermanned and no soil or Q & A element with any experience. I hear its arse. Fingers and toes crossed mate.

  17. Please excuse my lame paint skills. Im going to fab up a front splitter out of plywood, the mounting points I want to use are the ones where the reo bolts to the chassis. Im thinking that they would surfice for what I want, from looking around at all sorts of sizes Im thinking about having the splitter sitting about 150mm from the front bar. My only concern is that the front 200mm of the splitter will have no support, BUT, if the brackets are made from say 10 gauge steel ( THICKEST I CAN GET BENT ) and backing plates are used behind the fixtures that join the splitter to the bracket it should be fine. This is a elcheapo style bolt on for track days jobbie. Thoughts, Im thick skinned so cut loose. Thanks, Mark

Leak down was good, I cannot remember reading but it was apparently OK, head drains were drilled out, has - 12 head drains/vents to sump, has - 12 return from catch can to sump, has 1 x 0.8mm restrictor for the head feed, 1 x 0.6mm for the VCT. The motor was pulled and tolerances double checked. Its fine at the drags, the only time it isnt is when Im getting up it hard and going around corners. I dont know what else to do, my brain hurts bad..

  25. I may look at getting a lighter synth oil (for drainage), and knocking the oil pressure down to about 80 psi, . I need to do something to slow the volume oil getting into the head. Thanks for the info, Mark
