RB30 Head Gasket thickness for more boost
The Bogan replied to VL_Turbo's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
With that ET and MPH, plus a guestimated weight of 4000 lb (1800kg), an online calculator gets 1680 hp at the fly, so after removing drive train loss of, let's say 20%, 1340 hp atw http://www.wallaceracing.com/et-hp-mph.php When used against the dunnydores MPH and typical weight and drive train loss of 20% the calculator is pretty close to my old boat. Both the above calculator and a Moroso one we used at Autotech gave typical results. Unless they used a different Moroso calculator than what we used to get the 1900hp??? Opinions may vary -

What HP does the MPH/ET/ Weight and stuff say, those Moroso calculators are pretty accurate for a rule of thumb ball park figure... -
It seems that mufflers and weird tail pipes that bolt on to the "normal" loud "street" exhaust is big in America where on some tracks in some states if you go over the 90 Db readings you are booted At least they still get to happy lap, and the only people to see the contraption is the one behind.

Wendsday nights at WSID 🤣 That's the only place my car goes fast #nocorners

Google's says: "Noise Control: Pheasant Wood operates under very strict guidelines in relation to noise vehicles emit as part of events held at Pheasant Wood. A noise restriction of 95dB measured at 30 metres from the edge of the competition area applies for this event." How this effects straight piped and screamers? Meh, not really a war stopper IMO, just fit a muffler to comply Compliance during scrutineering with the requirements will probably be key to getting onto the track, or black flagged Fingers crossed, even though I don't get onto the track any more, I would always pop in for a look, watch a little track fun, walk the pits, and grab a snack if I could during my adventures cruising around the roads down south. Which I do alot. I think I have probably seen every car club around doing happy laps in Wakie Sydney to Goulburn, then past Wakie for a look, then Braidwood to Batemans Bay to Nowra and then back into to Sydney is a great scenic full day drive. And weirdly, I do miss the the cafe's 5hit food and coffee that was available at Wakie

What killed the varex motor? Heat? Contamination? I've heard of them dying because people wire them up with constant power and not off the ignition. Mine is wired to the ciggie lighter which only gets power when the ignition is on. I just googled the metal motor, not to expensive which is nice, still, I hope mine lasts for the next few years until I flip it for something else when I get bored with it, not that I'm bored with it now, but historically I don't keep cars for long. I keep looking at old hilux extra cabs that will take me into my retirement, I'm quite fond of the mini trucks, just a nice little NA petrol build to modify with only cruising in mind. Like this, only bagged, and not 5hit rims > https://www.rodshop.com.au/ls1-conversion-kit-for-toyota-1994-2004-hilux I wonder if I should use the SS to donate its power plant and transmission 🤣 -
How to make a 8 speed slow, add a third pedal. I don't get the conversion.

I like a street car that I take to the drags, that doesn't break everytime I take it out #stillR33triggered -
We need to end at a joint where there's lots of parking, maybe contact a coffee/ "good" food truck thingie, more time for ogling cars. It also keeps the cars away from random idiots/kids/footballs and other hazards in public parking lots. There's even some nice quite commercial joints on Sundays that shut down the warehouses over the weekends, that have little cafes which may be able to open for a few hours. There would have been more than 50 people that started the cruise, I'm sure most of them, including me, would like a nice quiet place to park up, open bonnets, and smash coffee, B&E Sanga's and cakes for a few hours, without Joe Public getting in the way. I look forward to the next one, and will try and move my schedule around to attend.

No photo love for the Bogan Cruise Ship 🤣

Bond put in some large base plates inside and under the car to spread the load. I remember talking to them about it and they showed me a picture or a flipped car with a crushed roof, they then pointed out the base plates of the cage that punched through the floor. Not as good as the big stuff you see on a good weld in cage, but alot better than alot of the bolt in cages I looked at.

Found an old pic, you did need to "negotiate" the cross bar though, I push alot of the old 33 out of my brain for sanity reasons , rear seat still fitted without the harness bar
-
Fixed seat with a harness and only a harness bar is great, as long as you don't roll and crush your spine. Bond roll cages Australia built/installed the 1/2 cage in my old 33 with a removable harness bar. Fine if you don't need to comply with some regs

My in cabin aircon temps haven't changed, my fancy pants FI interchiller aircon condenser and lines are wrapped in some thermal protection stuff so recieves no actual airflow, the aircon refrigerant does it all. Great for the street and drags. I assume long sessions at the track would see the the intercooler coolant struggle, even with a large reservoir. It does have a bypass to bypass the cabin air-conditioning to stop water from the in cabin air-conditioning stuff dripping water from condensation at/on the track.

Water to air will heatsoak and never be close to ambient temps flowing over a air to air. Apples and Oranges. I had a W2A on my HTV2300 supercharged LS1, IAT just cruising around was 50°c with 25°c ambient, and would peak at 70°c after a run down the 1/4. Then I fitted an interchiller, it now cruises with a IAT of around 25°c in 25°c ambient, and hasn't gotten over 35°c on a 30° day after a good flogging. For a turbo I would definitely run a A2A for IAT and cost, just get the right size A2A and have good airflow through your heating stack. Good airflow is key. You want your engine bay air pressure lower than the high pressure zone at the front of the car. #fluiddynamicsblackmagic

Work out what overall size your new tyres are, then find anything that fits in the hole to suit. Example: my 275/40 17 R888R are 25.7" diameter, my spare is 205/65 15 with a 25.5" diameter. This gives me a difference on 1% diameter which "should" be fine with 99% of cars. You don't want 3% or over. https://www.tempetyres.com.au/tyre-size-calculator
