  1. I can tell you havent driven one have you?
  2. Spotted these on the weekend in town, also saw a few F40's, modenas and muchilagos around aswell
  3. *Jizzed in my pants*
  4. $22k???? is it coated in gold?
  5. lol but what some of us have already said is in 2 years you should be able to pick up a v35 for the same price..... its true that the good examples of r33's are becomming more scarce, but the fact is theres still a huge amount of great examples, just not as many as there were 3 years ago... Why don't you just get a good cond non turbo for now, then in 2 years and 4 months ish away you can pick up a V35 that would have a much better chance of being in better condition than most r33's, its faster, alot more comfortable, more fuel efficient, they come with leather, sat nav, tv's, traction controll (handy when your not wanting to atract cop attention in the wet), brembo brakes, should be a much more reliable car because it is at least 5 years younger ect ect ect.... At the end of the day its your money, but unless you LOVE the looks of the r33 over everything else, i cant see why you would get one, even 14K is too much for what that is, as i said before thats the prices of 2 years ago, and mine was in better cond (who knows what cond the turbo is in, who knows how much boost its been running on stock turbo?) All we are trying to do is give you alternative options so you don't end up regretting your choice later on... I was like you, i rushed out and bought an r33 because i didnt want to wait an extra month to comfortably afford an r34gtt, i love the r33 but it looks alittle old, its plain, its 13 years old now, it doesnt look 13, but the r34's look alot younger than 11 and 10 years old, their interiors look nicer, alittle more power, rides allot better, little more fuel efficeient, newer ect.... if someone explained that to me when i was looking i would have gone for that... but atleast i picked a good one and had no probs with it....
  6. you reminded me, i parked next to a dr30 at hornsby westfield last week some time....
  7. So you want to spend $16k + extras (2-4k) for a non turbo 33???? Ahhh p platers and their crazy ideas
  8. ya in another 2 years you could prob pick up a v35 premium for 16k lol
  9. looked at the car, seeing whats out there, and ive just been active in the scene, i wouldn't give it more than $13500-$14000 maximum. Used car Dealers warante isn't worth the paper its written on so dont base your decision on that, legally they only give 3 month standard (by law), they will still weasel their way out of it because they'll always be able to find evidence of abuse, especially on a 96 gtst from japan. If i was determined to spend 16K on a r33 (which i wouldn't), i would want it already modded with the usuals (no more to spend) or something alitle different like a 40th aniversary version http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/privat...id=1250DA4D6DFA But for that money i'd go for this one, 98 R34 2 door, GTT, semi auto though.... Even though the pics are crap the thing looks clean, i'd remove that ugly spiler though lol. http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/privat...id=1250DA4D6DFA oh and i'm not telling you what to buy, i'm just showing you what i think are some better options for the same amount of money, things i would be looking for.... but honestly i wouldnt bother taking the turbo out of them, get something else then save up for the year or whatever you have left and then get something better....
  10. nah massive hassel to start taking turbos off and what not, but $16k for a fresh r33 series 2 is alittle steep, I got mine 2 years ago @ a better price than that, 1996 series 2, fresh as anything, had 64k on the odometer, floor mats, only cat back and pod filter at the time. everything was/is in prestine condition except ive now chaged the front bar, added some bolt onns, i'm about to do 100k service 7k early just for piece of mind, putting new split fire coils, just put new tyres, and i wouldnt be looking for $16k lol. The market isn't there for them, i put mine up a month ago at $14k when i was thinking of selling mine and didnt even get one ask even though i put near offer.... no one is buying them at the moment, quite hard to move, get the car yard to drop allot or dont get it, just sounds like its in fresh condition, but that price is too high
  11. lol +1 360 is king
  12. I agree with this post, i was thinking very similar to you when i read his comment
  13. lol there are a motza of ex Japanese and hong kong prestige cars entering Oz roads lol, this has been happening for the last 15 years on quite a large scale. Also its much easier to get a priv import 360 to aust than it is to get an R35 here, also you are nearly completely rooted by nissan when you need to buy R35 parts for it and Nissan Aust refuses to sell you the parts to fix it because it wasn't an Aus delivered gtr, they are very strict on import Gtr parts.... Ferrari doesn't care, they see it as part of their family no matter where it comes from
  14. lol i don't think you have read any of the posts except for the last few... Rational car? 0-100 in like 3.3 seconds, a little bit of over kill for the streets dont you think???? lol Status? amongst school boy racers maybe... Reliability shouldn't be considered since the cars are only 2 years old lol. 2001 kia carnival was rated the best value car with reliability when it was brought out, lol then at 70 000km 1/3 of all of their engines failed (usually outside of their warrantee lol)... Literally better at everything? except for Not having as good a name, not sounding anywhere near as good, as i said before it is/was the worlds fastest production car untill the ZR1 aparently took over, christ sake it should be faster on the tracks seeing as it has the advantage of nearly 10 years of advancing technology and an AWD system... When the 360 was new it was up against an R34 gtr, who was better then even with its awd system and its japanese computers...?? Its like comparing todays Olympic runners to Olympic runners from the 1920's, sure they were fast for their time, but they will always get smashed by todays runners... Yes the R35 is good value compared to other new supercars, but if you want real value get a $18k R32 gtr, throw $50-70k into it, for under 100k it WILL eat anything else on the road lol, all depends if you want a stupidly fast car, or a fast car with class
  15. will get a quote, need a baby dent taken out, think it needs abit of paint aswell.....
  16. Yeah this is true, but as we have seen in the GTR vs 360 F1 thread there are allot of people who think the sun shines out of nissans ass no matter what anyone else says lol
  17. 1. and 3 ticked...... actually you missed the best one number 4 4: Government contracts (the owner of the sub contracting company, not some shit kicker)..... they have no idea how much money to give us for jobs, Government and medical field in the last year or 2 are the only areas with money. Real estate is going to go good for people wanting to buy (like me) with the increases of RBA loan rates, (i was still hoping for a 1/2% increase last month, oh well this month is sure to go up, might find something good in the new year. I don't like shares, way too risky, if it was risky and you got heaps back for the risk, then yeah i'd do it, but ive been following it for a while and i still think there are better places to invest at the moment. But if i was going to get shares it would most probably be a green energy company or related to green energy somehow, you'd be crazy not to with the new gov changes (not ETS) that should be comming in the next year or 2. But not any old green company lol
  18. Just to let you know that SAU NSW Show and Shine will kick Vics ass sideways Looks like it went well guys, good job
  19. Hey you never know, you might be able to get away with a rebuild of 3rd, probably treat the r34 a little nicer lol, and it should still kick some serious ass, with trannys and drive trains its more the sudden shock that stuffs them up, I have 2 examples, one is car related and the other isn't: The mine trains/coal trains ect.... are massively long 6 diesel engines strong pulling 1000's of tonnes of material, did you know most of their trains never actually completely stop mooving? They have figured that because there is such a strain on the linkage parts that connect the caridges together that when they accelerate from a stand still this would weaken the links and cariges would need to be repaired more often, essential drive gears near the engines would sometimes get ripped apart because of the massive load they were carrying, so they worked out that having the trains constantly moving would put less stress on the links ect.... there fore it dint ave as much maintenance... Another example are drag racers.... if you learn how to take off by using the hand brake you won't get a sudden jolt while the gears and rest of the drive train link up, i know of people on this forum who have stupid amounts of horse power with near standard drive trains (usually just clutch upgrades to stop slippage) launching their cars all night long at eastern creek on wednesday nights, they don;t have any problems when they launch like that. Actually though of another one thats not really related, "its not speed that kills, its the sudden stop that kills" lol. Nah but seriously if you are slamming the clutch out uber quickly, the chance of a ripped gear increases allot, practice your shifts and hopefully it will end up saving you money in the long run.... unless you slip off the clutch pedal that can happen and then your up shit creek again. hope that helps
  20. nah just out of interest, I knew i'd heard of it before..... I would NEVER get a gtr in auto lol, waste of a machine.... paddle flaps is another story....
  21. mmm with exception to financing it to offset company tax, assuming your tax is more than the car lol. Why give it to the government when you can enjoy your hard earned money...
  22. That will shut the noobs up, even though the crux of it is the same as what i said. Good work Malcolm, that puts the inteligence number of individuals commenting on this thread up to 3 people lol. The F1 will never apriciate as much as your examples primarily due to allot more numbers being made, but it will do much much better over time than Godzilla.
  23. yeah, it is looking like the GTR is costing allot more to maintain than the 360's were at the same age, either way if you can't afford it, dont buy it. Only positive with gtr in maintenance will be in 5 years when there will be allot more generic aftermarket parts for it and allot of cars being used as spares, as opposed to the much rarer 360's who really dont have much of a demand for aftermarket or copy parts for sale...
  24. On the right track Aron, but if your price included labour aswell then yeah i'd go the new recond box, if it doesn't then i'd go for just fixing 3rd gear. But i fear this problem isn't going to just be solved by a new box or fixing 3rd. Either way though, its happened once, it can happen again with a rebild or a new box, off memory the car in question is pushing out some serious numbers at the wheels (or is estimated to be quite the animal).... it all comes down to how much you can afford. Ofcorse its safer to over kill things like the clutch and the transmission, but then all your doing is transfering more stress to other parts of the car so something else down the line "could" give way... eg: the axel or something. If you want it done properly, do everything thats associated with the drive train, make it as much bullet proof as you can. Or if money is a bit of an issue like it is for most of us and your seriously looking at keeping the car for a long time, do it slowly over a period of time, throw in the gtr box, put a crazy clutch in it, replace everything that is getting beaten by the massive amount of stress caused by traction and power, do it slowly, or do it when things start to fail. Replacing the box with a standard gtt or a rebuilt 3rd gear is honestly only a temporary fix, the temporary fix could last one massive thrash, or it could go on for 10 years without a problem, its your gamble and your choice, all comes down to money in the end...
  25. hahah melbourne, they also turn left from the right lane and left from the right lane, bloody trams. Just for future reference in NSW you can only do U-turns when a sign says you can (unless its changed now), just to be safe thats what i do most of the time, or just turn into a side street or use a driveway because there was a time when i only had 3 demerit point spots left and i didnt wanna risk loosing my lisence again lol..... hey everyone does Ueeys every now and then, just be safe lol, and if a cop sees you, then your in big doo doo. Its mainly because our traffic lights arn't programmed to allow for U turns where as melbourne's are, however you may think this is a stupid thing, you may ask why we dont program our traffic lights for it aswell? Basically if you have driven around melbourne you will notice there intersections are generally (not always) more conjested, their lights seem to take ages to change.... ect.... thats because some of their traffic lights allow for u turns and stuff.... also i recon our traffic lights look much better than theirs... but their freeway system is much better than ours
