  1. Sorry guys but its not normal...........as I said two aircon businesses have heard it and felt the effects and they are stumped. But I'm in a small town and their exposure to plus the fact that they are both auto electrical businesses means that they have good experience but maybe not a wide experience. If my vehicles were 1000cc 4 cylinder units then yeah the compressor cutting in and out would be very noticable, but they are bigger motors with good power, and the old days of turning the a/c off to drive up a hill or overtake are long gone. The courier is a v6 4.0 petrol manual, and my Skyline pumps out 300rwkw so I honestly can't see that happening. I drive [and have owned] other vehicles with aircon and the compressor cuts in and out and you hardly notice it, this is nothing like that.
  2. Hi all, 1998 Gts2.5t with mods, but the mods aren't the issue. When driving my car and the a/c is on every 5 - 15 minutes [its random] there is a soft 'choo' sound and the car feels the same as if you hit a shallow puddle of water on the road - so a soft lurch like the motor misses a beat??? If I turn the a/c off the sound stops. I can drive 500km on a trip and with the a/c off and the sound never happens. But as soon as I use the a/c the choo and the slight miss happen. Both are soft, the choo is soft and low and you can sometimes not hear it [but you feel the car react and then realise you did hear the sound]. The miss/lurch of the car is soft, as I said it feels sort of like when you hit a shallow puddle of water on the road. Here is the kicker......my shitbox Courier is doing the same thing but its a bit harder. No I haven't played with the a/c, the belts aren't slipping [different sound anyway], and the a/c compressor in the courier is newish. I've had it to two different auto electricians and they have driven the vehicles and have experienced it. Neither business has ever seen it before and both are scratching their heads. A/c's work fine, pressures and all good, they say that the gauges and diagnostics are all fine and as good as you could want, they cannot explain the reason for the sound. So I thought I'd ask the brains trust on SAU and see if anyone else has had this issue and what it is.
  3. True, but any excuse IMO
  4. Good excuse for an RB30 anyway!!
  5. Much appreciated jabes.
  6. Sorry, not until they arrive at Import Monster - which will be sometime soon I guess.
  7. I use a piece of steel 30mm square tube for this, its about 400mm long, doesn't slip off like when using another spanner.
  8. IM reply: Hi Daniel, Should make it fine for Christmas. Ill chuck this small VSpec one in our next express box to the shop in Melbourne. Will arrive before the stuff in the container. Its super light. So it will just be the R34 GTT outstanding. Regards, Rob Import Monster Japan Rise of Brutality or Jabes will have to wait for 2-3 weeks more before their mat turns up. Jabes is better if it is you unfortunately because RoB will get his picked up by Hadouken, and yours has to be posted irrespective of the arrival date????
  9. Update and my return email: Hi Daniel, Just an update mate, the extra mats came in mate, the Vspec one is really small. We can ship it direct, 1,200yen express. If you let us know the delivery details we can ship it. -----------------> The last one: > R34 GT-T x 1 will go in our next container. Its too big for the post service. Should land in Melbourne mid-Jan. All the other ones land in Melbourne in about 2 weeks. Regards, Rob Import Monster Japan My return email: Thanks Rob, I'll let the GB guys know. Going to be cutting it fine with Xmas??? Do you guys close up shop over Xmas and for what time? Please send the VSpec mat with the R34 GTT one for now, I'm not sure anyone wants to pay extra and then they may ask 'why me?' I can probably get a buyer to delay, but paying extra is another matter!!!! We have a person who can collect the mats for Sydney and Newcastle/Wollongong etc but if the mats turn up after Xmas and you are not open then we may miss that opportunity.
  10. The 3076 with a .82 housing is fine for a 25 but I'd be looking at a 1.06 on it if it was on a 30. But a 3582 is better all round imo.

  12. Try turning your a/c off and see if it still does it?
  13. synapse gap there somewhere!!!
  14. Need to drop on concrete and fix!!!
  15. A couple of bags of sand in the boot will do it!!!! BTW Nismo shocks usually lower your car by 10-20mm as it is, so you are wanting to go lower again. http://www.nismo.co.jp/en/products/competition/lb/pdf/r34_2.pdf
  16. Why do you need rods? Pistons and rings I can understand. This has the ring gaps you need for CP pistons and rings http://www.cp-carrillo.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=LjC4jLmI4Ls%3D&tabid=74 They also recommend around 8 thou, but others may have better knowledge of it than manufacturers specs or me??
  17. All discount refunds done....thanks to all for the details. I am a poor man once again.....lol So now nothing else to do except wait for Import Monster to get back to us and tell me that the mats are in and ready for delivery.......fingers crossed hadoukens xmas trip will time in with it.
  18. I guess what Cef33y is wondering is....Was the bore machined to the correct size for the piston you are using??? Was it accidentally overbored??? Wouldn't be the first time. Specs would give you the piston dimensions, clearances, and the recommended bore size.
  19. No you'll be fine with the odd jolt!!! Can be used as a reality check. But yr car will need a shxtload!!!
  20. Hot or cold...they look like cold numbers to me.
  21. OK, one left, to its down to a dirty magazine and a box of tissues!!! You don't get much for $12 bux!!!
  22. Does this mean your sparkplug sale is off?? was really interested in buying dropped and over tightened spark plugs!!!! More seriously, use a vacuum cleaner, some tape, and a 300mm of that clear 10mm plastic hose. Tape hose to vacuum cleaner hose and push through the spark plug hole and work it around while vacuuming. Not a guarantee, but its better than 'fingers crossed'.
  23. Only two left who I owe $$$ to now, so no wild women and alcohol, can't afford it. Down to girl guides and rasberry cordial now.............you know who you are
  24. Forget gears.............don't waste your $$$, you don't need the adjustment for Tomei [and prob most other] sticks. Cams and external depends on the setup you use, but from 255 to 300 is a big step for that. I'd prob go external first and think about cams later.
  25. Wow that is big, I don't reckon I'd use them. What is the recommended gap?? its usually more like 0.006"- 0.008" or 6 to 8 thou - yours is 10 times that. On the bright side rings won't bind, no matter what the heat!!!
