Piglet's Rebuild Of His Busted Tomei 2.8
sneakey pete replied to Piggaz's topic in Projects, Overhauls and Build-ups
Hnm, never heard of egt straight into ecu, as they are in the millivolts range usually need to be amplified 150 times (or was it 105?) To get it into the 0-5v range. Keen to see what he comes up With none the less, putting provisions in for mine but jsut running the single behind the turbo as an overheat protection for the turbine wheel.. for now. -

Trolling for info is all. If they're all going into the ecu as analogue that would mean 7 boxes sitting on the floor converting it, so I wss wondering if he had some kind of can based egt amplifier? -

Should work rather well. Using the haltech controller box for the egts also? -

Ah no, sorry I was looking at your post from last month mentioning you had per runner egt ports and a post turbo egt port welded into the manifold/dumps, was wondering what system you were using? Also intrigued about the back pressure sensor. I would assume the pre and post compressor sensors would just be run of the mill 0-5v variety's -

What are you going to be using for your per cylinder egt setup? -
-10 lines return to the tank I could understand, but -10 to the rail seems way overkill, in my opinion.

More boost means less through the gate. Would be expecting gains if you made it external , or got a bigger exhaust

Since you have comparatively more space under there than the 26, why not get some borg warner efr 6258's bolted up? I mean, a bit extreme and requires lots of swapping of stuff but results may be more worth it?

There's a nice gtx thread a few pages down for the 286x size ones, should be about as close as oyu'll get to what you're chasing. Was a result for gtx2867s recently. Made some power.

Tial Style External Wastegates

easier to get flanges welded onto the manifold? -
Depends on your power goal, 4" dump and 3.5" cat back should be good for north of 450kw

[Closed] Borg Warner Efr Series Turbos
sneakey pete replied to Lithium's topic in Forced Induction Performance
Yeah that's the stuff. Trying to see if I can't find one locally before I order that one, lead time is rather large... wiring is supposed to be done before then. -

On that angle, anyone know a supplier of those in Australia? -
RB26 GTX Cores in factory housings best choice?
sneakey pete replied to RB335's topic in Forced Induction Performance
So that's just the rear. Would then still need to get a front housing machined to fit. -
there's a bees dick of difference in the size of the -9 and -7 compressor, and the exhaust turbine is identical. The -7's are 44.6 and the -9's have a 44.45mm diameter compressor inlet size, and the outlet is 60 v 59.4mm. People get 350kw with -9's, people get 350kw with -7's. The -9's theoretically have a fraction less inertia but in reality the difference isn't going to be noticeable. Personal preference would probably be whatever is cheaper, or even what is in stock at the time, but wouldn't side-grade from one to the other.

RB26 GTX Cores in factory housings best choice?
sneakey pete replied to RB335's topic in Forced Induction Performance
What I'm saying is the gtx and -5 rear is a bigger wheel than the -7/-9, so it's going to be laggier but have more power potential. There isno best turbo, all depends on your goals. Didn't know atp is making kits, go any info/links? -
RB26 GTX Cores in factory housings best choice?

It's not really similar, a gtx2860 vs -9s is like a gtx3576 vs a gt3071 -
A happy story about exhaust temperature pyrometers

Anyone got any reccomendation for a particular sensor /amplifier combo? Preferably something you can wire the 0-5v into the ecu so it can be logged/displayed? -
Having got my crank in the block and having seen it the spool 28 is a work of art. The 12 counterweight vs 6 design should cut down on rotational inertia despite the extra mass, so it should spin up quite nicely.

sneakey pete replied to Lithium's topic in Forced Induction Performance
Nah, exhaust is sorted and am getting 3.5" made, was wondering about the compressor outlet flange, if you hack the end off its a vband, but not all v bands are created equal, (eg one my fabricator has bulk sets of has rubber sealing rings), just trying I figure out what people have used with success. -

Where have people sourced the correct Vband and clamp for the 8374/9180 compressor housings? -

256 cams probably aren't that bad, should bring it on nice and early and not hurt top end too much -

I plan to log the crap out of mine when its done... just need to get it done first!
