Hybrid Brand Intercooler Questions
Birnie replied to Ultimategtr's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Just chop away ! It must be the 1st and last time i ever used the chicken cutters out of our kitchen knife block If you get stuck mucking around with the fitment, it really isn't worth the worry. Just chop em, feal a bit bad for about 2 days of the slightly/un-noticable/untidy bits under the bonnet and then you'll be, what was i worried about! But you can chop em and then use a file to round off the edges to neaten it up a bit...which i should do -
I can never remember which bit is which , front and dump. Do a ring around some zorst places and ask how much to replace that piece then make your own decision.

I don't have this problem but i recently swapped mine out and sold the old one. It was working fine but had a lot of greasy build up in there. CLEAN IT YOURSELF GUYS. If you've never seen one, the actual sensor part of the filter looks so small and delicate I'm suprised these things atcually work! Get a can of contact cleaner and spary to your hearts content. Leaves no residue and heaps of crap will come off. You're safe to spray the wire sensor too. Pics here of one removed : http://people.aapt.net.au/~jason1973/Ebay/ To remove the AFM will take a good 5 mins with 4 bolts and 1 hose clamp. So even if you've never done anything mechanical in your life, this is a good place to start. $400 for a recon!!! I bet he would do the same spray i suggested, what a rip! Brand new Z32 is around $350 for goodness sake. (By the way, i sold mine, working, for $50)

Gcg Hiflow For Rb25
Birnie replied to yld_33r's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Is this an actual RB25 turbo that was highflowed, or is it just a GCG highflow that happens to suit the RB25? Pics would really help. -
That's not a 'turbo back' upgrade exhaust. You'll want to replace the front/dump pipes if yours are standard. If $$ is an issuea (which it was for me), just get an all in one front/dump 3" from flying performance www.flyn.com.au or something similar. True if you're looking at brand new althought there is/was? a 2nd hand GCG high flow in the for sale in the last few days for $1350 i think and i got my HKS2535 delivered for $1200 from Japan (plus extra expenses on that one though for line etc) For me, I'd go the 2nd hand GCG over a new Slide but that's just my personal preference.

Don't get the APEXI SAFC (Air Fuel Computer) if you're keeping the F-Con as that will already do the A/F function, and more...

....except i fotgot you blew your turbo....oops
-
You could but i'd do the oppotsite. Get your zorst/pos/fmic/ecu, that will get you to about 200rwkws and it'll be awesome. Then you can change your turbo/injectors and AFM for another level of excitement

I can't see any pics at work but maybe this will help http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...mp;hl=catch+can

Question About Bleeding Brakes
Birnie replied to SMOKE'M's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I do it corner by corner, particularly as i have to remove the wheel to make it easier. Can't do more than 1 wheel at once. And i do it as a 1 person job so use the little bleeder kit. If you try all 4 (i guess you could), you would need 4 reservoirs to hold the old fluid. ...and the front ones would be finished before the back so you would be bleeding good oil while waiting for the back to be flushed....wastage. 1 by 1 isn't too hard. The worst part is removing/replacing the wheels -
ANY ECU opens the injector at a certain percentage at a certain load point. It doesn't care what injector is there it just does the % it's programmed to do at certain loads. If the ECU works the 440cc injector at 40% at load X (approx 176cc/min) It will still open a 740cc injector at 40% (approx 296cc/min) at the same load point unless you remap/reprogramm your ECU to tell it otherwise.
-
Doesn't really sound the same as a problem i had but might be worth checking the seal around the filler nozzle. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...328&hl=fuel

You can get the turbo without getting the ECU etc..... Just keep the boost low-ish, and you will be OK. But to get the most out of it, it's recommended to get all those mods casue then your car will absolutely rip !

What Size Injectors To Go With A Gtrs?
Birnie replied to series2r33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
440 bolt ons for the R34, you can use GTR replacements can't you? or is that what you're tallking about? Well keep us updated casue if they are up to the task, the S15's would definately be OK for the R33 -
What Size Injectors To Go With A Gtrs?
Birnie replied to series2r33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Would the S15's be up to the task as a cheaper option? Although i would only consider it on the assumption you aren't going any bigger on the turbo. Seem to be 450cc (even though rated as 480cc) I'm close to getting em tuned on the HKS2535 so I'll see what the % goes up to on a 250rwkw tune (hopefully ) -
Anyone With Info On How To Clean Afm?
Birnie replied to PhilGTR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah, all of the above. I cleaned mine yesterday and did a search first and found about 10 threads which all sound the same as this one. -

I don't think the turbo will fail. Just that if you keep pushing, you won't get any gain and the turbo is considered to be choked up and out of it's efficiency if that makes sense. So yeah, i don't think wheels will start spinning off like the standard if that;s what you mean.

1. Not sure, mine seems to be the correct idle volts compared to others give or take 10mvs (about 1080 at idle) 2. Easy if your in the tuning process already, he'll say something like "that's funny, it's maxed out already?" and you'll only be on about 0.9 bar or 12-13psi with an aftermarket turbo. They do work (the dodge ones) just maz out early and it's mines a tad jumpy in the ealry revs. I sometimes stall on a light load take off but i've adjusted my driving to get past that. Still sucks though. I've seen photos of another Z32 and the mesh looked fantastic compared to mine. Looks like mine was taken off a cheap kitchen siv. I thought the mesh was OK untill i saw a good one. Anyway, i've ordered a new one and waiting for it to be delivered. When i swap it over, i'll definately take photo's of both side by side for comparison. The new one is a Tomei item although, apparently their Z32's are just original Nissan ones boxed by Tomei which is fine by me, as long as it's geniune

What's the APEXi SITC you have in your signature? Is that an ignition controller? Meaning you already have some fuel and ignition control? And you're in an auto? If it's auto, pretty sure SydneyKid does all his autos with emanage. Great looking software comes with it. There's a thread somewhere with heaps of Emanage Ultimate pics. If it's manual, you have heaps of other choices.

Thanks mate, The seat isn't a prob. I undid em about 2 yrs ago and haven't done the bolts back up since. Quick yank and they should be out. I'll see how i go when i get some time.
