Standard R33 Series Ii Turbo (98 Model)
Birnie replied to Birnie's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
...oh, and there's 2 busted bolts i need to get removed but I'm working on it. You can see them in the pics -
As above. I've moved onto a HKS and selling this might get me into an Electronic Boost controller Soooooooo. Took it off and it is rock solid! Left and right has no moevement whatsoever. In and out has less than 1mm. Great condition and just gave it a bit of a clean up too. 1998 model so has a few less years than most others. Can supply elbow and actuator if needed. Few photos in here : http://people.aapt.net.au/~jason1973/Skyline/ $370 ono Can be picked up from North Sydney or Gosford or somewhere in between. (Yes, r32 peeps can put it on as an easy replacement/upgrade)

Not hissing, but increased ticking when throttle was down. Coasting off throttle, there was zero noise. Also, check the bolts around the manifold to turbo and turbo to down pipe. They are common to come loose and are easy to diagnose, open bonnet and have a lookski. Takes 30 secs. If you're really keen, check the bolts around your Cat too, might as well. I had a small leak there once, actually...come to think of it, that caused a ticket noise that you could hear echoing off the wall....yeah...check that. Have it running and put your hand near the cat and check for noise and feal for air, look for smokey gas. Few turns of a spanner will fix that too.

It's only 4 bolts to take the thing off. Do that. But definately trace. I used white chalk to get the approxomates. I chopped the top too but the bottom bit? can't remember. Pics don't seem to be working but have a look here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...=110032&hl= Get under the and try and get the cooler in there, if something get in the way. Move it outta the way or cut it out. The horn was in the way but the just bent out of the way

had the ticking recently and it was (for me) the gasket between the turbo and exhaust manifold......also causing exhaust gasses to escape and be smelt in the cabin. Recently replaced the turbo and the gasket fell into 5 perished bits on the floor. Replacing that stopped the ticking. Make sure you get a Nissan brand gasket too as the cheap ones are exactly that....cheap..n nasty $42 from Nissan from memory Another prob i had early on in the ownership that may be related to your fuel smell, and was more common than i originally thought http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...c=72328&hl=

Yes, you need the nipple, even for stock boost. You're running stock boost now and your using the nipple. FMIC makes no difference, it's still needed. The pressure feed from the nipple to the wastegate makes the wategate open to let out excess exhaust gasses keeping the boost low at 7psi. If you don't have that feed (ie, no nipple) your boost WILL keep going up in excess of 1bar (14psi) and eventually loose blades out the back and into the Cat. ** Get the nipple ** May as well do it while it's not installed, should be pretty easy. There's a discussion about that too somewhere

I used the old Chicken Siccors out of the knife block in the kitchen.....seriously! They were crap anyway and did the trick.

Birnie replied to Nacho Vidal's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
R33 - 1998 Series II GTSt Stock Turbo - boost 12psi (bleeder) FMIC APEXi Pod Power FC (Hitman tuned) 3" turbo back zorst 194.6 rwkws (feels awesome !) Recently Upgraded to HKS 2535 but only on R32 actuator 10psi. Needs a retune but feels nice. Can't wait to hit around 250rwkws. Have GTR fuel pump, S15 injectors and Z32 waiting to go in. Yeehar ! Doing everything myself which can be slow going but very rewarding. iLEC : Looking forward to your results dude -
Got an R33/GTR fuel pump but it doesn't have the tube and sock attatchment on the bottom. Does the GTSt one transfer across OK? Or can you buy that bit seperately? Here it is : http://people.aapt.net.au/~jason1973/Skyli...Fuel%20Pump.JPG Thanks

Question About Stock Boost Controllor On Rb25det
Birnie replied to SKYHY's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Of the solenoid? I think it's the top one but just get in there and let your finger do the walking. ...hang on, the one without the T-piece is the one that goes to the wastegate -
Looks like I've answered my own question. Nulon Throttle Body Cleaner Gettin' to it now. and to quote : " Be generous and let it evaporate before re-fitting " Thanks for you help "Search Function" I think there's a lesson in that for all of us
-
Haven't even searched! Shit, not like me at all, doin that now
-
When you think of it that way, i have to agree. If i was spending the big bucks, i would throw $55 away to just know I'm going to a good place. Dump them, even for the little crap.

Hey guys, I've replaced my standard turbo and want to clean it up (the old one) and sell it. Can you just give it a spray with degreaser? Including the blades or will that upset the internals or balance? I would think the bearing are nicely enclosed and out of (spray) reach. What have you guys done/used ?
-
Have one in great condition. Will be working in North Sydney tonight if you wanna pickup. Absolutely NO shaft play, extremely tight in all directions. Just needs a clean which i will do now. $370 pickup.

S15 Sr20det Injector Details Please .
Birnie replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Just to bring up some more info i found out from 'Dale FZ1' cause he is the 1st guy I've found that ACTUALLY HAS 'EM INSTALLED ! Facts : 1) They are 450cc (as Dale used the correction value based on 370/450 to get normal results from the PowerFC) 2) JapSpec doesn't matter, as long as it was manual, Aus is OK. To be sure just check the colour. (Just to be sure, Auto S15's have the purple ones, equivelant to the standard R33's so forget them) Anymore info I'll be sure to add as i found out.. Catchya guys -
The warning light/engine will come on for levels that exceed....whatever it is set to. I actually thought the default was 60 but you can cahnge that to anything you want :sorcerer:

Might get a bit of a giggle out of a few people from this one as it must be one os the most talked about items, include bought/sold. But you all gotta start somehwere (including me who downloaded the instructions for an oil change 3 years ago...hehe) Have a look here : http://www.gcg.com.au/Catalogue_Menus/Upgr...pgrade_gtst.htm Also, if considering one, SydneyKid has a group buy going for (i think) $1750. Also seen in 'For Sale' from $1200 - $1900 depending on condition/use etc.... Benifits are that it bolts up to ALL standard water/oil lines and NO other modifiactions are needed to get it on and running. I've just done an aftermarket HKS2535 and it was a royal pain in the arse! Mainly cause i was stuffed around by Pirtek causing my car to be of the road for 2 weeks instead of 4-5 days..but anyway...Thats another story. Do a search and you should find what you want.. Cathcya..

Everyone knows NRMA is the best. Well that's what that chick on TV keeps telling me and I can't get that pensioners one yet or I'd definately go for that !

Also, R34 intercoolers are suppossed to be an option for the R33

Just found this on the Jap Yahoo auctions. Translated it seems to be a quitening Cat Converter that drops noise by 10db Wouldn't mind one myself. Commuting noise an hour each way is getting a little annoying Slidewize should be able to get you one. http://page15.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/t29306014
