  1. bugger its an S1 version good luck
  2. my first couple of track days earlier in the year were on nankang's...basically a really hard tyre that went off pretty quick. it was still fun, and by no means scary. just because its the track doesnt mean you have to run super tyres. the crazy r32 micolour car runs street tyres at the track and keeps up / beats cars running r comp tyres. i'd just run on the tyres you have, if you have fun. go out and get some better rubber and go from there. just remember to put heaps of air in the street tyres. i had like 40psi cold on the nankangs to stop the side wall going over. if you have the cash then go the 595RS or ku36, well worth it. (running 595RS 235/45 all round now, love em) marty (emts) in an s14 was running hankook fronts and nankang rears. iirc the hankook were pretty soft road tyre (obvious not the same compound as ku/595), they wore like crazy at sandown. still had fun, i think...ha he then run ku36 on the front last winton, was pretty happy. now has ku36 on the rear.
  3. just an update. was getting 3 track days out of the trw on the front. went looking for something that would hold up better and give better feel wen warm. got a set of qfm. pedal is much better, come on much earlier. still only got 3 track day out of em on the front. but with much greater confidence in the pedal. put some ducting in and larger 324mm rotors. have to see how they go.
  4. im running 595RS, 235/45 all round. so no huge grip on the rear. on the track they grip up 1-2 laps before the guys running r comp tyres. so your right up the back of those guys until they grip up. been to philip island twice and both times it has pisssssled down. the tyres amazed me, there is no way i could turn into turn one at the same speed with normal street tyres. done 7'ish days so far on these tyres. the center grooving has heaps on meat left. the outer grooving is wearing, to the point now were you cant really see the outer grooving. (not running enough camber and the tyre is rolling over on the fronts.). have been rotating and swapping the rubber on the rims.
  5. r33 rda's on the front and rear here heaps of track work (7'ish days) 3 sets of trw on the front 1 set of qfm on the front close enough to no wear on the rotor (though they have surface marking) 2 sets of trw on the rear 1 set of qfm on the rear close enough to no wear qfm are worth the extra $$ over the trw. trw were good but has all the bite at the end of the pedal and in the last 50m, and faded after 3 laps. qfm has better initial bite and don't fade, they feel harder if you know wat i mean. there wasnt enough brakes for me. uas caliper spacers and 324mm dba rotors now. testing this weekend. same set of qfm's and rda rotors on the rear and onto second set of qfms now with some air ducting on the front.
  6. hot earth kit ftw
  7. 2 points, its on!!!! heaea
  8. ok so ive got greddy type s dampers and springs. and to cut a long story short, ive broken the end of the stud that sits inside the suspension top. see pics. the car drives fine, no noise and it doesnt look like it has moved. the bolt on top is still tight and holding. im hitting the track this weekend so need a fix.
  9. you can generally move around the group a bit during the day, if your going much slower or much faster than the rest in the group. the class doesnt mean much for us, its more for the wrx guys. if your not out for times and just shits and giggles, then just email motorsport@wrx.com.au and tell them. ha i look forward to seeing your machine sideways out of the cleavage and onto the long track section
  10. second on the bonnet. post to vic 3199. its in good condition? not chips, scratches etc? do you think you could get it off this week?
  11. rear or the intake or front on the intake. mine is on the front, fpr vacuum.
  12. as did i catch you there
  13. yeh ok thanks. the guys at uas seemed to think that as well. but not 7mm, maybe 3mm. ill take it to the angle grinder later thisarvo then.
  14. you mean the front splash guards or the guard in the wheel arch? its two pieces. i would be a little worried (wrong word) if it was the wheel arch guard (its been pretty low), if its just the front slash guard who cares. most of em dont have them. my 1997 didnt, but the 1996 did. took them out of the 96 for brake cooling purposes. just make sure the chassis rails are straight and dont have holes in em. and that there isnt black shit sprayed on the under side of the car. extra bit on the bottom of the front bar is the chin spoiler.
  15. hrm, that sounds like a pain in the ass. im going to have to take 7mm off the rotor, which im not that happy doing.
  16. yeh have done. i was going crazy and thought there must be a simple explanation. so im not going crazy, kool. ill keep talking to john and see if we can find out wtf is going on.
  17. ive got a set of uas caliper adapters and 324mm rotors. took the caliper off the hub. took the 296mm rotor off the hub fitted the adapter to the hub fitted the rotor to the hub fit the caliper onto the adapter the top hole lined up, bolt went in fine but...the bottom hole does not line up am i doing something obviously wrong? has anyone else got some pics of theirs installed?
  18. Yes its pretty popular, so its an idea to pre-enter. but this weekend is booked out.... CSA are there next saturday though.
  19. change those over to those 5 stud hubs, with new rims and tyres. problem solved.... ehaehaea, if its snowing youll be fine.
  20. just pipped by Traverso. quick times for damp/wet track.
  21. purple 33 with a black bonnet at autobaurn chelt, sau sicker black 34 on ballarat rd, sau sticker two in one day, and i never see skylines with sau stickers....
  22. that was the same as CSA earlier in the year. you just need to get around the corners, and sideways was the fastest. go the wheel spin up the hill onto the back straight?
