  4. I can either put high comp pistons in my DET engine, this would give me piston oil squirters, and a stronger engine. Or repair the DE head, and replace the piston and rings. The pistons would cost $1190, and the machining cost is going to be the same either way I go.
  5. After a chat to my tuner tonight, we have come to the conclusion that the plug was the wrong heat range (too hot), and the long pull along the straight overheated it and killed it. The exhaust port was probably clean because the valve was busted and raw e85 was going through the port and cleaing it. I have also discovered that the valves on cylinder 5 wern't seating properly, hence the clean port. I'll get the injectors checked regardles.

  7. not sure yet, still adding it all up, and trying to work out why it leaned out. after i got the exhaust off, it was obvios that cylinder 2 & 5 were lean, as the ports were white, and all the other were black

  10. The nismo diff oil is just Motul. I run Motul FF LSD in my Nismo 2 way
  11. We quickly tested injector 2, and it didn't seem to spray correctly. It wasn't a definitive test at all. But Cylinder 2 melted the plug, so it makes sence that the injector was playing up.
  12. 5 looked like it had been hot, but no deformation. The other 4 were fine
  13. apparently my tune wound another 5 deg into the engine as a test on the dyno, and it didn't ping with that. EGT was only ~750deg after the turbo
  14. The tail wind at symmons is worth some speed. Got the engine open tonight. Looks like all the damage was caused by the tip of the spark plug that was missing. piston is full of dents the size of the missing piece, and the side is smashed out of the exhaust valve. Still need to work out why the tip came off
  15. I think the low down torque is what makes it pull so well in 5th. All the other 20's i've driven strigle to pull 5th cause it's so high

  17. Top speed was a big surprise. It's done via GPS, and is was getting data off 10 sats at the time. I'm pretty comfident it's accurate, the rpm vs gear calculates pretty close, and the lap time would indicate a good top speed since i stuffed the first corner so bad. i'll have the engine out and head off tonight, but it looks like it might have been a clogged injector, as we test spreyed it at the track, and it didn't mist properly. #1 injector looked heaps better. I've been over the logs, and lambda was .71 at full noise, fuel pressure was 65psi, EGT was ~750 deg, and I couldn't hear it pinging (i've watched the video heaps of times to listen to it too). So i'm confused on what caused it. What gearing do you have Ben? mine is a std RB20 box, and a std diff gearset (4.3 i think). unless a 4.11 got in there before I got it
  18. First and last hot lap for the new engine, seems i have a high flow #2 piston It was a rubbish lap too, I left the buggered tyres from Targa on the rear, as it always used to push. But it appears i've fixed the front end grip.
  19. some of us don't have cams log books yet. If you have one your fine. Dad's subie got knocked back by CAMS because they didn't accept an FIA spec cage from custom cages. But when he rocked upto High Country he got one, as the car ran under AASA Targa. Gotta love consitancy
  20. I'm planning on logging mine as a sports sedan. Dad's GT-R was log booked as a 3E...but that was back in 99 Tassie championship looks good, i'll be keen to do it
