I just recieved my log book, cost $60 for inspection, and $80 for cams to give me a book and cage sticker.
Waaay back in the early 90's the town stages were only cleaned by the top 1-2 (think Longford was like 2 min base time). OH&S has gotten to it since then

if you pop the shafts out, there will be a 19mm hex head under one of them. You have the option of 3 settings soft med and hard
recce is done before the event starts, ususlly in the week leading upto the event. People recceing in compition cars in tassie has been a problem in the past, as locals complain to the authorities (the ones who give Targa the permit to close the roads)
