G'day Guys! OK, just off the phone with Todd, our bars are at the Powdercoater as I type, and he anticipates he'll have them back tomorrow. This means we should have bars in the post on Thursday, and I'll have all the Sydney guys bars in my car! I'll be in touch as soon as I have them, and I'll organise a drop off asap. Thanks again for your patience, not long now. Cheers, Dale.

What Have You Done To Your Stagea Lately?
Daleo replied to Hanso's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I'd suggest plating the inside edges with some sheet alloy, then welding. That will give back a fair bit of strength. It will also stop them filling up with small birds etc... Kudos mate, looks great! -
Yeah, 316 is all we use.

Freely available to me, and I like working with it. They could just as easily be done in mild though. Are you thinking about work hardening? I intend to put a couple of gussets in to eliminate the flexing that would be the cause of that cracking.

Got some pics & measurements today, will be looking at doing some in 5mm stainless angle shortly.

Meh, don't matter, I've bedded new pads on new discs a bunch of times, never had any issues -

Yeah, use the old pads to bed the new discs, then throw the new pads in and bed them. -
Improving Stagea Fuel Economy/consumption
Daleo replied to 910trx's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I just don't see it as an "economy" car. Enjoy it for what it is, a brilliant tourer, with a hell of a turn of speed, when you want it. Economy is for lasers and 323's Hell, you could be driving a Magna... -
I'll have a look tomorrow, thanks for the heads up Andy. If it's similar to the mount in the pic I posted for the link (The Black 90deg pressed steel one), it'll be a piece of piss...

Soon mate I'll be running another Group Buy in February, to line up with the projected delivery date of the new Whiteline bars Wayne has been kind enough to give me access to his retail contacts to ensure we get the best possible deal . Wayne has also sent me a set of Heavy Duty, Adjustable Ball Links for the rear Sway Bar. This is a known area of weakness as Andy and Aaron (possibly others) have discovered. I'll be fitting these tomorrow, as I'll be doing about 1000km over the weekend. This should provide me with some good feedback and I'll be posting my thoughts and experience, along with some pics early next week. They are of a sturdy construction and have some very neat engineering features. If all goes well, these will be offered in a Group Buy, or in conjunction with the next Sway bar Group buy. Stay tuned, Dale.

Brake Upgrades? Suggestions Wanted
Daleo replied to Frosty's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Uses your existing caliper and replaces rotor Delivery is around $160 to Sydney. DBA list 350Z rotors at around $300 retail I believe. There is an ebay motors setup that is even cheaper, but delivery might be a killer... -

The OP was driving a friends car I believe, and WAS covered by insurance. What you're saying is pretty much what everyone else has been saying, and it's good to have the "insurance compay" view. But at the time, his treatment by the attending officers was quite misleading. They were saying he was AUTOMATICALLY at fault because he was a P plate driver; rather than for any relevant rule related fact.

Sounds like someone who knows my mate the HWP officer in the red (and now also a green) unmarked VE on the GWH, eh Terry? Add illegally parked in Everton Road (Ugg Boot Man) blocking traffic from exiting an intersection. My missus sat behind him the other day (he's parked AT the dotted line at the corner, and looks like he's about to pull out and drive down towards Springwood), eventually tooting at him, until he got out of his car and impatiently told her to drive around him. She then asked him sweetly what the minimum parking distance from a corner was. She said he went red and started mumbling... She said "speak up please" as he was muttering and walking away Nearly wet myself when she told me...

Where To Buy Decent Wheels Spacers
Daleo replied to eightsixboy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Have you been using hubcentric spacers? These have a lip in the centre to locate the hub of the rim so all the weight of the car is not being supported on the wheel studs. If not, you'll find it's almost impossible to get rid of the shake, as the wheels are not on centre. Also the lip must engage firmly both on the disc hub, And the wheel hub. When you had issues, did you return the to Just Jap for replacement? I've used hubcentric spacers a few times and provided they're machined correctly you should have no issues. (Even though spacers are illegal and the correct offset wheel is always the best solution) I've used -
Ok, brakes first; If the discs weren't machined at the same time, the rotors will not be perfectly flat and the pads will have to wear in a little to match the surface. Scorching can occur, as the full pad face is not being utilised as yet. Yes it is possible to have pad backings that aren't quite the right shape, but on the Sumitomo calipers there are little stainless steel shims that clip onto the pads (on the back and also on the front corner), these stop the clicking. they may have thrown them away with the old pads if they're stupid (which is beginning to seem like the case here) Brakes are a serious issue; not cutting corners allowed. Sort this out NOW. Oil; The tapping sounds like lifters, possibly they have too thick a grade of oil, also will explain the "struggling" at idle you describe. This oil needs to go. Where do you live? If we know this someone will be able to recommend a quality mechanic in your area. They DO exist, it's just a matter of finding them. WA has plenty of big power Nissans you'll be able to find one. Cheap is one thing; have you looked at the price of an engine rebuild lately? Pay a little more, get a LOT more. Once you have found a reputable mechanic (shouldn't take long) tell him of your experience, get him to look at everything you've described. Then, ask him to write a comprehensive report for you to take back to ***PM ME FOR NAME*** and ask that the pay for any work you've had to do to correct their potential incompetence. If they don't respond favourably, tell them you intend to go to fair trading, and let them take care of it. IMPORTANT! Be calm & measured in your response if you find they've been negligent, a quiet chat with the manager of the ***PM ME FOR NAME*** you went to (or a phone call to their state manager), will get you a lot further that yelling & carrying on. Good Luck.

That's excellent mate, smarter than we look eh? Maybe one weekend soon, you can just drop in & we'll do the plug. Only need to pull the grille back out to get at it, less than half an hours work, and you'll be on your way. -
Interesting, A friend of mine is a National Sales manager for a childrens wear company, and she showed me some pretty ludicrous numbers Was a while ago, maybe things have normalised a bit. Definitely traffic flow is huge.
