Perth Loses V8 Supercar Round
StealthX replied to juggernaut1's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
The proposed plan for barbagallo, not the government $5 mil up-grade, but the raceway's own plan for a $50mill upgrade (including an track extension/diversion/ new pits, new race buildings, AND better traffic flow) will bring the V8s back here, along with a big jump in motorsport in general.! I've seen the plans and they look great, the track is a great track as it is, but this new one will quick as, not to mention enjoyable, for the drivers. Still a few years off unfortunately, we'll have to settle for some safety fencing and track widening - $5mill worth of government "funding" (sweet FA). -
I Was Given A Warning. And I Was Also Threatened
StealthX replied to KEN-R34's topic in Western Australia
Complain about the prick... Use as many legal stuff as you can. i.e. quote the numbers of your permits and/or engineer's certificate with the law and shit. Good on ya for being polite and calm too, u must've bin pretty pissed off. This is exactly the problem, that even when things are illegal, there's no protection from the law! Prick cops like that can give you yellow stickers and 'warnings' for something that isn't even illegal!! -
Just don't expect it to be fast... 4drs are hot, 32s being the best of the 4drs IMO... good luck. BTW, 'conserned' = concerned 'transmition' = transmission 'camery' = camry 'econermy' = economy 'exstractors' = extractors

Turbo X-trail
StealthX replied to StealthX's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Hey guys, another update... The ex is in @ hyperdrive for a few days. Putting on an SR throttle body, a metal oil drain and finishing off the tune (finally!) Also heard from Andrew that my turbo might be on its way out too Hope its not the case but ill have to wait and see what he said after i get the car back on Monday. Ill be looking at either a GT2871r or 2860r. ill see what 1k will get me. might have to side for a journal bearing one instead, i dont really mind. only looking @ 8 pound boost and 240whp (the torque steer is crazy as it is @ 212wph!!) but for now, until i can confirm that the turbo is fvcked, im gonna leave it as is, and keep the same boost level. Stay tuned. -
Also there was a small yellow restrictor in an air line that came on all stock RB26s. that limits boost/power on a stock engine to said 280hp. when you remove that yellow thing, youll get a little bit more boost and more power...
-
okay then with an RB26, if its stock, it wont have an external wastegate. both the turbos will have their own internal wastegates. ditch the external wastegate man, you wont need it, unless your putting a big single turbo with different manifold(s) on. just use the standard internal wastegates. btw, wastegates and boost control dont make a car slower at all - wastegates are a need on every turbo car, not an extra thing that you put on. dunno where you got that from, but a boost controller and wastegate is a means to control boost. the more boost, the more power, the quicker the car. but you cant run more boost with out having it tuned of youl blow your motor. as for the BOV, dont touch it. leave the stock one in. a BOV is a valve that opens up when you take your foot off the accelerator pedal, and vents the excess air that the turbo is still flowing out. has no performance benefit at all, except maybe a bit less lag between gears. a BOV helps keep the turbo healthy.
-
The waste gate is a flap that opens to bypass some of the exhaust gas from the turbo. it has a signal line (an air line) from the intake piping, that fills with pressure when you come onto boost. when you reach the boost pressure your wastegate spring/boost controller is set at, there will be enough pressure to open up the wastegate, effectively stopping your turbo from boosting too much. If you have a 12psi spring in your wastegate and just run a air line to the wastegate, your car will run 12psi. (all things being equal). if you have a boost controller in there, it 'bleeds' off some of the air in the signal line, so the wastegate will take more pressure to open. i.e. 20psi instead of 12. but its not advised to run 20 psi (some will say even 12) on a stock turbo, especially with no tune. i see you have an R32, 20psi on a stock rb20 is a little risky too...

Turbo X-trail

just some pics for y'all... installed some bonnet spacers for a cool look and bit o' heat treatment (yes it does work to get heat out of engine bay) ripped off that nismo sticker, dunno what i was thinking... this is that throttle cable i was talking about. its from a GTi-R (FWD SR), the bracket mounts on to the firewall perfectly. and to my suprose, there was a hole in the firewall already (oh joy!) p.s. excuse the cable tie, just needed to secure the cable for driving around before the TB... [EDIT] the pics are thumbnails, click and get enjoy some fullscreen love! -
Turbo X-trail
StealthX replied to StealthX's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Hey rhys. Yeh things are all good. Ive got a throttle problem, the fly-by-wire system is f**king around, and it wants to idle @ like 3k rpm, but I'm ditching it and putting an SR throttle body on next wednesday, the last few weeks have been searching around for parts (bracket, cable TB, TPS wiring etc...) Got most of them from trust ol' Ben @ KYP lol It made 212whp on hyperdrive's rollers with a base tune and 7psi. Ive driven cars with 250+ whp and this feels soo much more than only 212, probs cos ive got 4 wheels to drive, a transfer case and, plus bigger tyres to turn. It's almost quick enough for me, i think 10 psi will be a good number im hoping ill be satisfied then. after i get this throttle system figured out, im gonna up the boost to 10, get andrew to finish the tune and wind in some more timing(providing its not pinging) + clean up the AFRs - they're all over the place... Thinking of coming along to the next SAUWA cruise if people don't mind, so hopefully very soon after, ill take it down to motorplex and hope for some low 14s or 13s... -

What Comp Should I See In A R32
StealthX replied to Alex123's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
150 to 160, each piston should be with in 5-10psi of eachother. good luck -
thankyou! geeze i didnt know it was such a big deal lol fck, shoot me, i made a bad call couldve just been like "nah man 7.5 is too narrow for any performance car" but nah, had to be a keyboard warrior and flame me etc... anyway enough of the winging... xxx200, that EMS you sold me a few months ago is working a treat! got it installed and tuned bout 6 weeks ago! thanks again!

Grumblebee Is Alive
StealthX replied to Sir Lord Van Von Vader'ham's topic in Australian Capital Territory
RB30 w/ RB25 head. great numbers mate! my car makes about the same number at those boost levels, but in HP! hahah -
oh. my. god. that machine is incredible. i'd have this in a flash if i had coin. good luck!
-
Do you guys rekon there's any benefit to putting one of these in a pressure line to a map sensor? I've got a map sensor on my car from the EMS Stinger. Anything that helps the computer get a more accurate load signal has got to be a good thing right??

i dunno man, these rims are bigger than 19s and this 'stretch' looks good (IMO) anyway, to OP... i dont think stretch would look good on rays GTVs if they look anything like this especially not 19s too. as dave said, go something 17/18 and a tyre about 20-40mm smaller than the 9" (230mm), and have a profile of like 40-50% otherwise itll look to flat.
-
just trying to offer advice mate. thats what this forum is about lol how bout something helpful rather than just trying to flame people.
-
Might wanna go a bit smaller if you're gonna stretch like drift style... 9.5" rim = 235mm, so youd need a tyre narrow-er than 235mm. a 255mm tyre on a 9.5" is actually a good fit, but wont look stretched at all. likewise for the front, 8.5" = 208mm, so something smaller than 208mm i'd suggest either going smaller wheels, maybe 7.5" on the front, and 8.5" on the back. as for tyres, if you want bulk stretch, try 190s on the front and 205s on the back (using your size wheels). good luck tho, sounds like a good plan, stretch would look mad with an s15!

Push For More Points Rather Than Larger Fines
StealthX replied to Skylin3r1982's topic in Western Australia
Yeh I've heard they are trying to increase the minimum speeding fine from $70 (0-9 km/h over) to $150. i.e. double demerit style fines, normally... Yes it's a bit outrageous, but the idea is that you shouldn't have anything to worry about if you're not breaking the law... The way i look at it, the po po and the government are approaching road safety the wrong way. We need better driver training and education, rather than just bigger punishments. But with the amount of revenue that the fines bring in every year, of course the gov'mnt are trying to raise them! My $0.02... -
My mates 1JZ has a similar thing... Pretty sure its to do with the stock boost control system, and the guy/girl before you must've put a boost controller in and blocked off that line... From what I know that orange thing is a vacuum reservoir or a filter like ^^ he said... Try tracing the line back to where ever it originates, cos it could in fact be a EVAP line/carbon canister line, which is important for emissions and sh!t...
-
Any luck with your vacuum problem bro?

boost water temp oil temp oil pressure i'd say they're the important ones, but other than that you could go: air fuel EGT (exhaust gas temp.) fuel pressure and voltage [edit] ive got oil pressure, voltage and boost. along with an EMS hand controller which shows everything else, narrowband AFR, ignition timing, duty cycle, injector mS, water temp and calculated EGT.
