you havnt mentioned how much boost you were/are running. do you have a boost gauge? are you sure theres no adjustments on the EBC? and that it makes exactly actuator pressure before it bleeds any air off? my moneys on its making more boost and your going R&R or too lean @ 5k rpm also just one of those misfires etc when you first had the EBC on, would've fouled your spark plugs, now they are struggling to fire. so new plugs as Nismoid said, then see how ya go...

Hey guys, due to other things taking priority (uni etc...) I need to sell my remote filter kit and oil cooler. It is everything you need for a remote oil filter and oil cooler set-up, except for the lines, which will need to be custom made, so mine are useless anyway. The oil cooler is a 10 row 75 tall x 255 long x 50 wide with -8 fittings on top. It's brand new - bought it from a member here new but as mentioned, I don't have a use for it right now. The relocation kit has -10 fittings and has 2 external ports for senders/oil feeds. It will fit most Jap cars (Nissan, Toyota and Subaru) and comes with an adapter for two different size oil filters - the most common two sizes used for said cars. Comes with steel mounting bracket and all o-rings. Again, its brand new, only came out of the box for a photo or 4. I'm asking $70 for the cooler and $90 for the relocation kit. If you want to buy both, I'll do it for $145. Willing to post anywhere in AUS at buyers expense. PM me or call/msg 0424 438 501 Thanks!

Cd Player Cuts Out When Headlights Turned On

Hey all need some help with my new turbo. Its a water cooled disco potato and I need to make water lines up for it on my X-trail... 1st question: What size lines are required? my guess is -6? Also what size are the fittings that go into the centre housing of garrett turbos? 2nd question: Can I just tap into the heater lines (one for feed, the other for return) and is that adequate? i.e. do heater hoses have flow through them enough for turbo cooling? Anything else I need to know for water lines? Thanks...

Hey guys, little problem has popped up of late in my X-trail. Just happened out of nowhere the other night, i was driving along and suddenly my CD player cut out, mid-Jimmy Eat World. Nothing else, lights didn't dim, didn't loose any voltage, (volt gauge still reads 14v). Is this a symptom of a bad alternator? or is it more likely the CD player on the way out? FYI, its the stock 6 stacker that comes with my x-trail... Wat do ya rekon could be the problem?

Nah dogey mate. That 'agent' thing is a dead give away, ive seen a heap of bad sellers do this thing. Dunno what their strategy is, but with the amount of bad sellers using the same line, i seriously doubt its validity. Just say youre unwilling to sell to an overseas buyer... Good luck!

What ya mean whens the world gonna see it!? Ive bin boosting around for the last 4 months! I'm planning to rock along to the next SAUWA cruise, im keeping an eye on the events section! As for whoop ass wednesday, im not too sure... I just dont have the money to replace things if anything goes bang... having said that i have been giving it a raping on the street and apart from the turbo, it hasnt looked once like its gonna give up! So it should be ok for a run or two at motorplex, ill just have to wait till the new turbo is on, tuned and ran in etc... -
Turbo X-trail
StealthX replied to StealthX's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Hey guys. Took the car back to Andrew for a touch up tune. My car was cruising a bit lean so he put a bit of fuel in those load points, then took some out under load cos it was a bit rich. As normal its not accepting much ignition timing at all... This is prob cos of the heat that this crappy turbo is generating. here's the maps of the boost vs power and AFR and power: *note the wastegate that cant control boost, the wastegate is set @ 6psi, but it rises to 11psi! its not an issue though cos its tuned for 11psi and never spikes more than that... So I'm still making 190hp with a blown turbo! haha I've lost about 25hp from the initial run of 212hp. The important thing is, its making 140kw at the wheels, where stock it makes 80kw (tested by some guys in sydney) thats still a 75% increase in power over stock RE: new turbo: I've settled on a GT2860r -7 commonly known as the great disco potato They are rated @ 180-310hp and ill aim to run 8psi and make 220-230whp or 170kw Should have it in a few weeks then I'll go back to Andrew (again!) and have another power run Stay tuned! -
Yeh its the same like that... Just undo the 8mm nut then turn the screw...

did you loose anything on the compressor side? i.e. from the bearings shitting themselves? maybe a bit of compressor wheel has damaged a cylinder and youve lost some compression in affected cylinders? +1 for taking off the exhaust from the cat, give that a boost around and see what that does. other than that, maybe have a look at your MAF, it might be reading wrong cos its damaged (from said compressor fins), and its not reading your engine is under load which is causing only 5psi. good luck! this ones a mystery!

Hey guys, I'm looking for a Garrett GT2860R -7. Any guys with two of them using them for RB26s, I need your help! Give me one of them! Any luck, msg/call me on 0424438501 or PM me here (preferrably) I'm looking to spend up to $1200 for a newy, or $1000 for a lightly used 2nd hand one. Thanks in advance! Cam. P.S. I'm open to suggestions for similar turbo if you want one sold, I'm looking for about 220-250whp, and I want something similar to the 2860 -7

Yeh put a bullet up the ass of the engineer or the DPI, threaten them with ACCC action. The engineers have a duty to provide that certificate to you, and they havnt... Hassle, hassle hassle... Keep making phone calls untill they get their asses into gear...

Hey Stao, I'm looking to upgrade to a TR43 G1 with a .63AR in the next month or so. What sort of wastegate actuator options do I have? I know you don't typically make them with anything less than like 10psi for skylines etc. but for my X-trail, i need a low boost setup to work off before i raise the boost with a controller. If I was to order one, can you include a 5psi actuator? Thanks!
-
hmm yes and no. They are not the best computers in the world, but they do work... If i was you, I'd spend an extra few hundred bucks and get a PFC or EMS stinger. depends how crazy your build is. situation one: stock or similar turbo, <12psi and <200rwkw --> greddy e-manage ultimate will be fine. situation two: GT3076 or similar/bigger, bigger injectors, fuel pump, intensive mods, >10psi, >200rwkw --> go for a decent standalone. engine computer isnt something you want to skimp out on, go for the big guns like a haltech, EMS, PFC etc... you wont regret it...

R34 Gtr Clicking Noise From The Boot
StealthX replied to TuLaLiT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
No idea about why its keeps turning on and off (clicking noise), but it would dim your lights because the solenoid is using power. That leaves less power for other things like lights, radio etc... -

The carbon canister has rubber lines coming out of the firewall, dunno if they're on the intake or exhaust side but have a look around (and under the car) for any hoses/lines that aren't connected. The actual carbon canister is in the rear of the car I'm pretty sure, you'll just see the lines.
