R33 Gts4 Front Coilovers
Duncan replied to 33gts4's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I mate, did those shocks includes springs? it is the spring that determines the ride hight, not the shock itself. sorry I don't know if 33 gtst/33 gtr/33gts4 front shocks and springs are the same. They certainly were not in 32 series. -
Did I see that right? 2x $200 fuel pumps + surge tank for $920. fking bargain. I have an earlier version of this (and only needed 1 pump), and it has been excellent. the best thing about this sort of setup is that it's not in the boot, so you don't get fuel fumes or have to seal off the boot for motorsport. bolt on, wire in, and go

Changed Brake Pads Need Help.
Duncan replied to baysideblue14's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
great post. -
are you confident the wheels were balanced properly? hub location is not often a problem, the wheel studs, especically when the wheel nut holes have a taper, generally pull it into the correct position

R32 Gtr Tyre Placard - Picture Please
Duncan replied to Sinista32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
There is no tyre placard from the factory, anything was added here at compliance. factory wheel sizes were 16x8 or 17x8 on the vspec. -
Great work today Ben, you are 8th overall as well as 2nd EM....keep it up, hope you have a trouble free run

Well my respect for Tony Quinn has gone up a long way after today's events. Yesterday Tony and Naomi were canvassing other drivers for support in reducing speeds for saftey, and Tony said if there was another big accident he would head home. Sure enough there was a big accident, and sure enough he has packed up and headed home. Good to see someone following through on talk when they beleive in it.

from the website We are deeply saddened to report that there has been a fatality at Targa Tasmania this morning. We are currently working with the relevant authorities who will provide further information once next of kin have been advised.

Is this the best updates page? http://www.targa.com.au/tc/page_full.asp?asset_id=8653 Not much happening...although it seems Rullo's tailshaft issue are getting worse not better

Brad does do an excellent surge setup for 32 GTR, and I have one in my car. It mounts under the car just in front of the diff and has surge tank and pump mounting in one. It makes a big difference in reducing surge, especially on rally stuff where the cornering is not constant, also pretty good for circuit. It is also nice and high under the car so lots of other things get hit first if you bottom out. But you have to remember that even a 2l surge tank empties pretty quickly on these cars in a long high g corner, so looking at the standard pickup is also important. I ran out of fuel twice in the first race weekend I was using the surge tank because I did not allow for the long turns where the fuel runs away from the lift pump pickup....more work to be done on my car

lol that would be funny to watch. to be honest I think they'd be better to focus on making the event affordable to get the volume of competitors up; the start time list has only 177 cars. good luck today for everyone lucky enough to be there!
-
haha it chirps 6th! I figured there must be something wrong in the box to break 2 shafts, but maybe it just does have a lot of go. very impressive for a standard car.

hey? did wilfred get his hands on an australian driver's license? It was the Rullo/Iseppi GTR

Mra Round 2 - Wakefield Park April 14
Duncan replied to evil_weevil's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
well done, how was the view from the podium? -
The metal piece us the caliper is a tapered section so the (stock) flare fitting can deal properly. It has to be removed if you are not using a flared hard line any more, like you. I am not familiar with those brake lines, but I don't like the look of that fitting. The other common type of fitting at the brake end is a banjo bolt, and the banjo bolt has 2 copper washers to seal it (1 seal between the bolt and the brake line, 1 seal between the bolt and the caliper. It seems like that line just uses a tapered fitting, which probably is not designed to bottom out (ie sit flush). If you bought that line for a 33 gtst and it did not mention removing the fitting from the caliper, I think you should shout at whoever sold it to you.....pretty poor form not to mention such a tricky step. Unless you just ignored the instructions, in which case clip yourself on the back of the head.

Is There A Manual Box That.....
Duncan replied to Stealth400's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
yep, 32 gts4 or gtr, or 33gts4 or gtr. Or probably r34 gtr but I am not 100% sure on that. Mine runs a 32 gtr box with 33 gtr internals -
Hi mate, that is quite a series of questions/comments there, it would help if you can be more specific about exactly what you want feedback on. Generally a twin plate clutch does have more bite/ is less progressive to use....there is a reason they are not fitted by the factory. So basically, that is something to learn to live with. A clutch issue cannot be affected by revs, because once it is fully engaged it is either working (ie gripping) or slipping. So if you say it is not slipping then there is nothing further to look for with the clutch. The clunking noise when first going under power is likely to be a worn or misaligned diff centre, or stuffed Cvs (or maybe uni-joints) in the tailshaft. I am surprised none of the mechanics diagnosed that because it is quite common. The fix is to replace or recondition the tailshaft, or if it is the diff it may just be able to be adjusted. Nothing should clunk when you put your foot down, it is the sound of something moving when it should already be fully engaged. Finally, the drone is a lot harder (I'm assuming it is driveline not engine or exhaust). It could also be a diff problem (eg low on oil, or orn), or a gearbox problem, or even just noisey tyres. If it gets better or worse when turning a corner it might also be a wheel bearing. Hard to more specific than that without more clues

for those plugs, you should leave them at 1.2mm unless you are getting a miss at high boost. The bigger the gap the better the burn, people only gap them down when the spark is not strong enough at high boost. good idea to check stuff out early....can't say I've ever tried that
-
lol haven't heard that noise for a while, maybe this could be the one? BTW any truth to the rumour you've downgraded from 32 to a 33?
-
haha as well as her finely honed driving skills, I reckon the way the leaf puts the power down may have helped a little. We have shocks, springs, semis and a longer extension cord due before next texi

hey mate I'll try and get the old girl running before then, I'll let you know. this is a good little track to hoon around, and a nice cheap day.
