  1. Thanks Adam. All 4 speakers *sounded* OK. What do you mean exactly by checking the polarity. I assume neither the negative will have 100% continuity to earth/chassis, nor would the power have 100% 12-14v when measured to chassis/earth?
  2. you said nipple! we need pics
  3. Thanks for all the advice guys. I hit repco's 30% off speaker sale and bought 6"x 2way pioneer for the rear, and 6"x 3way pioneer for the front. About $150. The 6" rear fit straight in with the 4 screws on the speaker into the factory plastic mounty thing. Just needed to join the 2 wires up to thee factory plug. The front was a pita. The factory speaker is built into the plastic framey thing which meant either bolt the new speaker straight to the door, or cut up/modify/re-use the factory mount. I did the latter because I figure nissan knew more than me about speaker mounting and design. Took some stuffing around and use of self tappers to mount it....at least no-one will ever see that butchery. And the wiring was also a pain because I wanted to retain the factory wiring plug which was built into the mounting frame - more stuffing around with the soldering iron. Does polarity matter in speakers? I wasn't aware it did, but the kit mentioned + and -....so I connected the blackest wire in each pair to the speaker (-). All works fine. As for sound quality....I can conclusively confirm they sound better than 4x 20yo factory speakers (including one rooted one).
  4. Unless your cooling is already a problem in street use, I can't see this causing a problem - there is still a big fan and heaps of places for air to come and go. Don't forget most cars have large undertrays these days, 32 gtr certainly had one, i am not sure about 32 gtst.
  5. how did you come to the conclusion that the xfer case is stuffed? what are the symptoms.
  6. which category does the car race in, or is this for road use only. In either case, assuming it doesn't seal the whole engine bay, I can't see it being an issue. I guess it would be too thin for rally use at 3mm.
  7. lol maybe it is even slower than Dec bookings...they gave the club a good deal for the Dec day. Can someone convince Neil to take Cheryl to Marulan in late Jan?
  8. lol this thread is as regular as xmas.
  9. talk neil into being the gineau pig. cheryl needs a surge tank to deal with those 150 mighty kw.
  10. yeah, that is another bonus. My race car was never complied so no bloody restrictor. I don't think they are required now days as leaded fuel is long forgotten
  11. +1, that has ben the cause of every "fueling leaking out the cap on the track" that I've seen.
  12. Yeah I run one under the car that looks stragely similar. It's the only sensible way to do it....why would you want fuel lines running around the boot, especically in a targa car where you might be throwing spare wheels/tools/etc around in there. Dirt cheap because you just run a standard or 040 or similar pump in the tank and an 044 or 023 under the car. The only thing I forgot is you still run out of fuel with a surge tank if you empy the fuel tank . It made it much further without surging though
  13. I've often had a squealing/high pitched screaming noise from the front passenger side
  14. For a different perspective on life.....when Flame cam became Fail cam.... And finally....how not to overtake at turns 1 and 2....no names to protect the guilty
  15. Need a radcam Ben! Mick, this tyre is narrower than when I bought it, can I have warranty replacement A lap of Wakefield with Flame Cam
  16. John needs to charge a big margin so he can line his engine bay with gold.
  17. In every series I've seen they interpret coachwork as the original (or replacement) body panels. Otherwise there would be no limit on how wide a car could be if anything you add to the coachwork is coachwork. Canards and splitters generally are narrower than the widest point of the car's body.
  18. well....I don't know who's event it was at EC yesterday....but that is why most clubs don't run under CAMS rules, they can be a PITA. In any case, Brad can help you out with the catch can and all other schedule A and B requirements. Unless you are racing a cage is not required by CAMS but some clubs might require them when you are on slicks. I'd never want to discourage a motorsport competitor, but there are plenty of events where a cage is not required - a cage is that key decision where your car is no longer a reasonable daily optio, and if you are going to go that way there are lots of other options worth considering.
  19. lol...it will leave one day....just need to finish the damn house first! If you are going to get rid of anything, get rid of that shitbox pulsar. Jeremy...why the need for CAMS compliance? Are you thinking about getting a logbook? If so, a cage will be the big change. If a logbook is not important I can't see why a 3l catch can would be any more appropriate than a 2l one. If your breathing is under control 2l vs 3l is no big deal.
  20. c'mon Mark....share your oil experiences and get Jeremy to just kill himself in despair. Did you make any progress after last weekend? Or did your car co-incidentally catch fire on sunday morning?
  21. wow. all the grumpy old cun7s are out tonight.
  22. as tempted as I am to make this difficult Jeremy......just drop it at Brad's with an order for a 3l catch can, and then pick it up 2 days later with a 3l custom catch can at an excellent price. Your car can sleep next to my race car while there if it will make it feel less lonely.
  23. I don't think we can blame the NSW panel for the time attack section of the regs, I'm sure they come from $uperlap regs.
  24. can't be too careful! motor looks good though....getting all the right bits and done properly.
  25. I see Steve-o....I assumed from the thread title "SAUNSW - Club events" that this thread was for SAUNSW club events. My mistake.
