  1. Paul, that story is just so full of win! OT - got my car ready for dyno tomorrow - packed up parts to install and Lappy, topped off fluids, got into skidz mode and left my drill at teh workshop
  2. Must be a strong motor then! Wonder who he used to tune it?
  3. Haven't really driven any of those little 4 doors. I had a quick blat in a 22B, but not long enough to tell anything about them except LAGGGGGG. Oh, and a GT3037 Evo, but same thing, punched the throttle and got to 3500 and still nothing before I ran outta space. But really, they are a tool for going quick (targa/track) especially the Evo. They don't "feel" the same as a Nissan or Mazda. They come from more economical backgrounds- shopping trolley stock. If you are dead set serious about motorsport, then I'd get an evo. But if its a daily, or combined duties car, then you can't beat what you got. Plus all the other owners are just so cool.
  4. All the subie owners are jelly of M35's. Every time a Forrester, or a liberty wagon gets behind me, I see them lean over the wheel and squint to see whats written on the back of the car.
  5. Nice Rudi, its good that you can see a improvement in the 1/4 from your recent mods.
  6. Sorry to see that Josh, I probably don't need to tell you, but get it seen to pronto. I was a tight ass and left the boots cracked and separated for a few thousand kms on a honda. Instead of costing me a few hundred, it cost me a lot more because the uni joints went. The click on turning/accelerating sound that you get from worn unis.
  7. Lol, yeah, that's not affordable. I haven't gone inside, but would taking the covers off, and getting some round seals cut and using a little sealant to bung it all back together? Is that an option from people that have seen it?
  8. I would never say that the 25 isn't a good motor. It's a great bit of kit, but frustrated by the ecu. I wish mine was as strong as it! It's just my thoughts that Scotty has pretty much got to the end of what's able to be done. Maybe it'll creap over 350 with a 3076, maybe it'll pop. Thing is, with a 3.5, you'll get more power easier, at lower boost levels, with less lag, and still very usable around town. Diffs will be fine. The front diff works in a r35, so we're not going to worry it. Main hold back is the gearbox, which if I was going to do properly, I'd get from the states from the place I mentioned earlier. It's just my opinion, I might be jaded because I got one! just like going to a rb30!
  9. How are things in tractor land anyway Aaron? Did your Stagea ever get back on the road?
  10. Think E85, and some real boost in it- you'd be deep into the 400s for sure. Just have to find a turbo to do it- would probably max a GT35 out. I'm just trying to find some GT35r turbo numbers and sheets. Most big # set ups are twins. Flying the 3.5 flag!
  11. So here is a built VQ35, GT35r on 15psi, PULP (US 93 oct) 380ish rwkw Thoughts?
  12. Lifters and Coles brand oil?
  13. Scotty, I'm sure you'd have a buyer for your 25 setup. In my opinion, the only way forward with big numbers is the 3.5 and something like a GT35 range. Simply my thoughts are we don't have the space for a big turbo set up- like the RBs run. I don't think you would gain anything by building a VQ25 bottom end- You'll run a bigger turbo and end up in lag land. Build a 3.5, and run a good sized turbo on it, you won't need the high boost to make power, and it'll come on quicker. That just leaves the old gearbox chestnut. Posts I've seen in the states said that the build RE box expires around 500whp. Thats a bit worrying. HOWEVER there is currently a FX35 (awd) being build by a shop that are going to try and put GT35 twins through a build RE. Very conservative estimate being 800hp. I guess there is always manual, but rwd isn't going to be fun, and awd looks like a headache- we'll see what dcdc does! http://www.levelten.com/LEVEL_10_Infiniti_PTS_Bulletproof_Transmission_p/inf-g1800-9000p.htm
  14. On Saturday we'll give things a nudge. Jez will get some time to get his head around it, see if we can get a bit more timing in at 4psi which I think we're missing. Pop the high range maf in, make sure that's scaled ok. I want to run without the spacer, then chuck it in and actually see if it makes a difference. Then I've set a limit for myself that day at 6 psi. So will see what that nets with a safe tune. Have seen 9 psi make 300rwkw, and back it up with a 11.9 quarter on a G35, and still be on the safe side with torque. Wish the bugger would just send me his map! I only run to 6600, the stock limit. I think you run a but higher yeah, like 7200 or something? I'll get something with the top of 4th and Kms n it.
  15. But cool people run 3.538:1 final drives.... jks Theo! Thats what we're wondering about.
  16. I'll check it out on the weekend and let you know.
  17. What did you Rev it out to? I would have thought top of 4th would be over 200. Guess I'll see on the dyno on the weekend. Didn't look at the speedo last time.
  18. If anything Scotty, it'd be the crossover pipe to mod first IMO. Comparing the one in the HKS kit to the stock item showed some differences- mainly being the stock one has a big restriction from a press bend.
  19. Staring in my direction- must have been off with the fairies! Spot me bishes!
  20. Spotted a Silver M35 Aero going sth on the eastern distributor about 240pm I think you saw me going north at the toll booths.
  21. Spotted a black, slightly beaten up r33 gtst in chatswood about 3pm this arvo. SAU sticker across the rear window.
  22. The amount of boost doesn't matter per se, but the amount of power/torque coming from that boost. I believe Craig was running 18 or maybe a bit more PSI for his 270kw on PULP. As for the limit... no body knows. All the blow ups have been det or overheat related to my knowledge. I believe Scotty is hell bent on trying to find the limit though!
  23. There is a massive amount of development into the VQ in the states due to the 350z and G35. Small and light is a bonus. Plus the heads flow very well. Should make a great motor once the weaknesses are sorted out. They should be up near 1000hp- but maybe they will choose a bit more response.
  24. -1, just like everyone else's. Car clear of error codes?
